  • Known for its crisp, on-point designs and admirable in-house watchmaking, Germany’s NOMOS Glashütte has blossomed in recent years. Today, its collection takes in watches suitable for the variety and pace of modern life in all its formats, flushed through with pleasing aesthetic details and robust engineering.
    In this episode of About Time, we assemble a three-watch wardrobe with a trio of NOMOS’s most versatile and characterful timepieces. For work, there’s the urbane styling of the Metro Date Power Reserve; for kicking back, the breezy Club Campus with its “California” dial has us covered; and for getting active, it’s the bracelet-bound Tangente Sport Neomatik, a watch whose rugged functionality takes nothing away from that unique and ineffable NOMOS charm. As we discover, it’s a true strength of the company’s skills in design and concepting that each watch could itself cover the work-rest-play remit on its own.

    Junghans and Nomos. I'm not a watch connoisseur but when it comes to design, nothing beats those brands imho. Just a different breed of watches. Beautiful.

    Awesome video but politefully disagree that the Tangente Sport is not a big watch. Sure, it is thin but at 42mm with an all-dial design it wears even larger than an Omega SMP or Oris Aquis 43.5

    Love Nomos but wouldn't wear them all the time not sure it is a work rest and play brand , even the most WR and solid Nomos would leave me feeling uneasy in many settings. But I do love Nomos and own an Orion.

      @@davidbellamy1403 I have the 180, and yes there are different ones, you don't need to proove it :-). I still think most of the nomos collection is too similar. Compare it to breitling, their different lines like the navitimer and super ocean have nothing to do with each other, they're so unique, you can easily buy one and want to go for the other, nomos's pretty much all belong in one line / collection.

    Unfortunately, the Nomos look is...boring. Always seeming that something is missing, that it lacks personality, originality. I understand minimalist design, but this is not "it"...

    • @lipinglin1994

      It feels cheap. That is the problem. People can be all hyped about this brand with its marketing and influencers, but you are right. They are boring in design and feels like a clock that is sold in IKEA.

    • @togo7022
      @togo7022 Рік тому

      The watches don't hold their value so you feel a bit of a dunce having bought into the marketing. Opt for a vintage Rolex or Omega instead-many nice options

    • @davidbellamy1403

      It's a niche watch, it appeals to some and not to others. For those of us who like the Bauhaus style and the amazing quality for the price, they're superb. For those who don't, look elsewhere. Bill Sanders of WatchArtSci favorably compares each of 3 Nomos watches to vaguely similar Rolex at three times the price.

      @@davidbellamy1403Just bought one after reading all the hype these years, with the DUW4101 Swing system that is supposed to be groundbreaking and a breakoff from Swiss dominance in escapement. But was quite disappointed by the accuracy. Its gaining 15 seconds fast a day. My Seiko Springdrive is zero seconds/absolute spot on for 3-4 days then an occasional +-1 second and then back to spot on zero gain/loss again for days, its almost like atomic, my Omega 8500 is -1 sec a day, another Selita in a Sinn is +5 sec a day, they are all way better.

    • @davidbellamy1403
      @davidbellamy1403 8 місяців тому

      @@antonc108 I don’t think you understand the differences in these two types of movements. Perhaps you should watch a video or two on the different types of watch movements including mechanical, quartz, and spring drive. Spring Drive is basically a quartz regulated watch with mechanical gears and a spring to drive it. Comparing the accuracy of spring drive with the accuracy of a normal movement is inappropriate at best. As for the accuracy of your Nomos, like any watch, they can get out of calibration and this one sounds like it’s overdue for regulation. Mine is running about four seconds fast a day, which is excellent for a mechanical watch, but not so good for a Nomos.
