- Predator 224 Exhaust trumpet vs RLV muffler vs header pipe
Tested an exhaust trumpet, an RLV silencer, and a header pipe to see which would perform best on the Predator 224 powered Coleman cc100x minibike.

Good job I injure your videos I learned a lot from you I like the way you explain and show the things you do
Love your passion for these bikes man keep up the rnd.
I love the way the trumpet end sounds
Very interesting 🤔
Love love the vids😍
Very cool seeing the comparisons. I love the sound of the exhaust trumpet. I remember ordering a 3 stage bugler straight pipe for a go cart from Jegs almost 30yrs ago that was shaped like the exhaust trumpet on the end. It made a big difference from the old stock Briggs exhaust. Brings back some good memories bro. I raced a couple times. I live about 30mins from Madison NC They have one of the biggest fastest dirt ovals on the east coast. It cost a boat load to even be competitive though. lol
Awesome content keep it coming 🔥👍✌️
Thanks! I hear ya. We raced flat head Briggs with Horstman parts back in the day. Fun times.
Sweet comparison! Surprised the rlv silencer did better then the straight pipe…Funny i just installed that same header pipe and silencer on my coleman cc100x bike today. Put my hemi 212 back on. Love the sound.
Big fan of torque tubes and trumpet end tips Flat heads rule!!!
Love the Briggs 5 horse
I really like these tests. I'm searching for a more silent muffler that still performs and was wondering if there is anything like a Honda Grom muffler that you could test? I need more silence for the neighborhood and camping.
Subbed and thank you so much.
I'm gonna try and find some alternative mufflers to test, thanks!
maybe repeat test and do in reverse order. see what happens. maybe engine being warm made those differences
what is the header on the 224 at the very beginning of the vid i cant find it anywhere
Do you let the engine cool down before runs so they all are running almost exact same situation man?
Black 66 can u do a comparison of the Tillioson 212r mk ll vs the predator 224 are the wildcat 223.... I have the Tillioson 212r mk ll... With a stage 2 but with the 🔥 265 cam I had a 26mm now a 28mm nibbie carburetor flat side...I'm beating ppl with stock 225 Tilly motors.26lb springs stage 4 header pipe . stock pvl flywheel.. billet rod.. but I'm finna to upgrade to a billet flywheel real soon.
I would like too. Ill get to more comparisons soon
I wonder if things would stay consistent if you ran straight pipe again after all those runs-it might have just been warming up the engine and clutch.
Maybe...Check out the 224 playlists. I use the engine on a few different frames with different exhausts. while testing different parts. ua-cam.com/video/y3pl7KiSTmY/v-deo.html
I just wonder if after all three test u then do the first test over just to see if the numbers have anything to do with the engine being warmed up.
I drive the bikes around to get them warmed up before I start testing. You are right, it does make a difference in 0 to 30 times if the engine is cold on one test and then warm on another.
Sick vids bro what’s the rear sprocket on that thing 💪🏼💪🏼
Thanks! 59
I'm confused. I added a RLV mini to my straight piped ghost 212 with VM22. I went from 3.7 & 56 to 4.1 & 51. It sounds great, but feels way Slower. Can that be fixed with jetting?
I had a similar issue and jetting it did help it
Love the side by side comparisons. Valuable info. I'd love to see what a total seal top ring would do against a regular top ring.
I have not measured the bore of one of these 212 engines. It's listed at 2.76 but I need to use an inside mic and check it out. I believe installing a gapless top ring would make a big difference in these little engines. I'll send cash, if you'll test it!
Predator or wildcat style motors?
Hey man do you like the predators motors? Are they reliable? Or would you go with something like a 223 wildcat?
I like Both. The New Predator 224 has a Ducar block and a 58MM stoke. It is a great foundation for modifying.
@@Black66 Awesome, thanks a lot
What size is the trumpet end. gps has two options
1-5x16” for this header pipe…
I know you might have said this before but where did you get that gas tank
Found it randomly on Ebay . Made the mounts out of angle
That's weird i wouldn't have expected the Trumpet to be any different than just a Header Pipe alone being it's basically just a short extension on the header pipe that's just more hollow tube. Guess that little bit of flaring at the end really does make a difference.
Ya, and the longer pipe.
@@Black66 I just found my mini 91' RLV silencer laying in my driveway lol. Lastnight i shot up the driveway and guess i didn't notice. If it continues to blow off when i accelerate even though i had it screwed on as tight as i could make it does that mean the engine is too powerful for it ? Should i just get myself a Trumpet or a bigger silencer in hopes it can handle the pressure it puts out ?
the shape of the trumpet does weird stuff with the air flow i dont know the scientific term but air blown threw a straight tube verses it curving out like the Trumpet changes the airflow
I did an oops and bought a hemi 212 instead of a non hemi. Is there any cheaper parts you've found for these ?
All and all they cost about the same to build just have to clearance the hemi unlike the non I prefer non hemi just because it easier to build and males tad bit more power
@@heathenprojects2639 yeah I was looking for a non hemi but the guy at harbor freight said they weren't sure what engines they get during shipment (I only realized I got a hemi after I checked out lol)
@@heathenprojects2639 what rpm do you run billet parts at ?
@@thefishingchannel3192 honestly anything over 3600 but that said I've ran 7k on stock bottom end it's a at your own risk kinda thing I don't advise doing it long period for 250 you can buy a good stage 2 kit from about anywhere arc cost little more 300 but ARC is kinda of more a name brand like Nike
@@thefishingchannel3192 ya I've bought non hemi got home and got a hemi in the box lol the code and picture on box is not always correct I don't really mess with predator as much as I use to I've moved to the Tillotson on my main bikes but I'm a die hard fan of old briggs and Tecumseh I've got a pretty hot little Tecumseh on my 61 bird duck mini bike
It looks like the, exsaust,clarinet😊
im in the process of turning a paint can into one lol
Whatever works!
@@Black66 badazz right ?
Pretty much no reason not to run the RLV muffler and your neighbors will thank you.
