    I never knew how much I needed more memes in my instructional videos.
    I have ADHD and this is the first time I watched a video like this and took all of the info in on the first watch.
    Thank you

      Yeah bud. #trolllife. Or is it #trolllyfe. Plus they are probably trying to solder with a $10 Weller soldering gun and can’t figure out why they are melting the connectors. #illdoitagain

      @@ChrisHouseHobby oof, I feel called out haha. Did my first connection today with whatever gear I've had for years (nothing to clamp it lol), warped the connection a bit with having to struggle with one side because I'm a fool with no gear haha.
      What soldering gun/solder and stuff do you use?

    Cool video. I've been using Dean's since the 90s. I'm just now switching over to XT60. The XT60 seems like a much better plug.

      Yeah xt60 are the new deans. I still remember when Tamiya connectors were the standard. Awful times lol

    I learnt a couple of great tips watching this despite already soldering my own connections for a while now, but goddamn you stress me out having those wires flap around so closely to each other unsheathed 😂 I get it though, you've been doing this for so long it doesn't bother you 😂

      Hahaha yeah. I feel I should do another video that’s edited with tape on the wires. Lol. Thanks for the comment

    Wow rule number one is don’t bare both wire at the same time well that’s what my grandma said when I showed her this video and she is 82 and knows nothing about soldering but she knows more than this kid obviously

    Hope you answer this. My spektrum ic5 plugs on my SonicWake boat melted together with my ec5s on my 2 batteries. I'm gonna have to cut them off and replace all 4. Do you recommend me using ec5 or xt60? Thanks. Great video!!!!!

    • @ChrisHouseHobby

      Ec5. Xt90. Be careful. Make sure nothing else got damaged

    What is the temp your your iron? I always having trouble with these IC connectors melting

    • @ChrisHouseHobby
      @ChrisHouseHobby  Рік тому +2

      I use max temp and I get in and get out
      Truck with ic3 especially is to be quick and efficient. Too much heat for too long = poopy connector. Practice makes perfect The ic5 larger connectors are much easier. Lots of heat use high grade solder and make sure everything is “wet”.
      Good luck. Take you time and have fun Soldering takes time to get good at

      I used to solder plugs with zero issues. Now years later I’m having serious issues. I tin the connector and the wire but when I put them together it seems to take forever to get the two to melt together. By the time I get them together my finger tips are burnt and the connector is starting to melt. I think my soldering iron isn’t up to it. It’s a brand new benzomatic butane soldering iron from Lowes.

    Complete noob question…no harm in snipping the old connections in preparation for the new? Thought I read the length of the battery wire should not change. I realize if you do it correctly the overall length shouldn’t change much but just looking to verify. Thanks for the vid!

    Is solder just a bonding agent or does it actually act as a connection it’s self or do you have the have the wire touching the copper on the ic5 connector? Just curious, never thought of it. Just all you gotta do is just look at it! Lmao ed bassmaster is the best.

    Informative video, but you are using the easiest plug out there to solder.

    • @ChrisHouseHobby
      @ChrisHouseHobby  3 роки тому

      Negative.
      They are all easy when you solder 100 plus a year lol. But yes easier than traxxas or deans. However traxxas doesn’t sell separate plug anymore. Also we picked the plug that was the most requested. Also I love soldering. Subscribe immediately:)

    Isn't that an IC5 connector? You said EC5?

    • @ChrisHouseHobby

      Same plug standard
      Interchangeable.
      And yes I know they have the center pin
      And yes everyone removes the center pin

    It's making me cringe that you have both positive and negative stripped and close together. I'm liking your videos but this is not safe. This isn't good in ANY situation

    • @ChrisHouseHobby
      @ChrisHouseHobby  2 роки тому +2

      Sure it is. Just like wiring most things in life whether it be 120 volt home wiring or working on cars. Be conscious and be safe. Also you can use electrical tape or some heat shrink if you feel it is safer for your skill level
