P-18-2 VHF Radar

The mobile ground-based VHF P-18-2 radar is designed to detect and track air objects (including those made using the Stealth technology) in circular and sector surveillance, measuring coordinates (range, azimuth) and determining nationality. The station has a high accuracy of coordinates measurement, mobility and noise immunity.

As I was a officer in Eastern germany we have the older Version 1RL131. The resolution was not so high, but the efficiency was phantastic. The black bird we can see at a range of 300 km by a very low power. In 1989 we became the new identifacation system PAROL. It was a really powerful piece from the future.
