One of the first movements I learned when I started taking Taiji lessons, and the one exercise that made feel like I was actually DOING Taiji! Love it, 谢谢,老师!

The end of learning is the beginning of understanding
We learn one step at a time when we are young
We dance without thinking when we are old
The routines become the effortless dance

Watch how he moves his hands and practice that or watch how he moves his feet and practice that. Take it one little part at a time. One little part and practice that. You can do this!!! ❤️

I had some recent injuries and was finding it difficult to exercise but I saw some video of tai chi and thought I’d have a go to my surprise it helped a lot very quickly this one seems to be something I could do to help myself regain strength control and balance therefore it will help with the ones I have been doing thank you very much

Find a class and dive into it! I took up taiji about 25yrs ago to try to heal from a back injury in the Army; after about 6mos the stabbing pains in my legs were gone, and I was almost as flexible as before. Because I kept with it, now at 60 I'm fitter than a lot of guys I see 20yrs my junior, and the only time my back gives me problems is if I do something dumb (like spar with my teen son lol). A journey of a thousand li begins with a single step....take the step!

I practice Wu style and there is something very soothing and calming about this ‘walking meditation’ as my old teacher used to call it.
We alternate between slanted forwards (gong bu) and upright (xu bu) and I think that constant alternation creates a gentle rocking feeling that allows peace

Very good Master, thank you. For those of us who do not have too much time to practice, one movement helps calm the mind "faster" and pumps up your energy. With all due respect, I practice preparation and beginning just by itself, coming back to the center. By 10 minutes I feel like I am about to take off from the floor, and the body starts to move by itself. I have not found advice on a single movement of the form like this, at least to my recall.

I come with Understanding of all. When you understand masteries, end up with giftedness and you release understanding in the midst of misunderstanding. I also am internally disabled, in the incurable, recovering from the worst internal injury given to me from the whole world, thankyou for your gift of injury.
For you, you begin to now want to understand, for me its resting understanding and have it turn into something else because it wasn't wanted but was rejected by all.
What is missing in Tai chi and everywhere else the absence of care. That care is essential to healing. That which comes out ftom Tai Chi a careless movement, void of healing. The masters in the earth are so rude, too rude can't make time for the disabled or hurting. Can't touch or hold hug or embrace the healing that is needed called life that comes out from understanding.
This exercise I needed another exercise with it, that is with a simple twist leg behind. To do the two exercises together in a rhythm, brought focus. That focus is needed and is missing in the young and at times the aged. It didn't take a thousand steps. If I were to do it 1,000 steps all at once, I will hurt myself. Better to do 1,000 days one exercise at a time for a small amount of time. Slowness is always best for learning and understanding in days and minutes.

At the beginning, I have a same your thinking, but after listening the Master Eu said to pay attention to feet, hands, eyes I just recognize that about nature movements of our body.
For example, when you push your hand forward: exhale, your same side feet and hand straight forward like you pushing your car. You may be able to do it in 15 minutes. Of course it is not smoothly like the master, but you don’t need to remember much.

Mainly because they know 'Master' Gu is a fraud. It's basically a money making scheme between him (a former school teacher with very little experience) and George (who to be fair doesn't know any better).
His Academy banks on what is called the 'Wudangshan revival' in China. Basically after the cultural revolution (which was a truly sad time for the mountain) nothing really remained. The mountain used to teach Neigong and a form of martial arts that aren't a large departure from Wushu (at Shaolin). You will see something closer to this if you look up [wudang academy] a group from the same place as Gu but teaching in Europe. They demonstrate the sorts of arts that were actually from there. Taijiquan (or Tai Chi) if you like, was never taught at the mountain. Master Gu has a very poor grasp of Yang style and a few other aspects (who knows who taught him that lol) - but ALL Taijiquan originates from Chen Family. Which you can look up on Wikipedia. Not the best resource at all but if you look up Chen Wangting the Chinese officer who created it, you will note that they do say [historically agreed by scholars]. So much so that we also hold the same view in Taiwan. And you can imagine how much of a strain that is with the politics!
Anyway. In my small experience ( I am a student at the sports university and train at Olympic level under Bi Ying Liang) his form is almost completely wrong. Way too unstable in movement. If you go and compare to some of the competition Taiji on UA-cam you will have a better grasp than what I can write in English).
So just be weary. He communicates ideas fairly poorly at the Academy and lacks any real depth or understanding of the philosophy he claims to teach. It's ok for a grandma in the park or a toe-dip into Taoism. But if you take even a moment to compare his 'lectures' with what I learnt from Professor Ziporyn and others - its a HUGE difference. I don't want to intrude on people supporting what they want; just bare in mind that Gu is being dishonest. Our texts are NOT vague. They do have a Religious component (which many aren't comfortable with). He's creating a bad precedent by claiming that they can be separated from the philosophy. They can't be. We consider the Huang Di / The 3 pure ones to be essential, for example.

    • @ErraticFaith

Mainly because they know it isn't legitimate. It's basically about money making between him (a former school teacher with very little experience) and George (who to be fair doesn't know any better). It keeps erasing long replies for some reason, so I'll stick to that for now lol!
Edit - ok, it seems to just be hiding the messages but they are there when I change to 'new messages' at the top. So that's odd. Hopefully the longer one I've left will remain.
