Great video. I do have to correct you regarding a few statements you’ve made. So, it’s V16 engine was made out of the two Lamborghini Urraco V8s. The P300 ( P111 on the US market ). That is why, like you’ve said, it has two crankshafts ( that are not holding the engine together ?!). Claudio Zampolli, father of this Cizeta did however create the uniblock for the two of the V8s in a T formation with the transmission. Therefore V16T name. Your prototype has the side difusor with horizontal gills and that was done on the first and second prototype ( white and blue ) and one more red car. Basically till 1994. That year and a year later Cizeta finished 8-9 more cars. Final production numbers are still unclear. Two cars were purchased by Sultan of Brunei, one of which converted to a V12 from Ferrari 512TR. In 1998 Pininfarina bought two completed models. 3 more cars were made in 2003, one of which was convertible. Some say total of 12 were made, other sources state 19+only one prototype....honestly, not sure who can give us exact number. Now, what this car represent is an original Lamborghini Diablo design that Marcello Gandini did while working for Lamborghini. When Chrysler took over the Lamborghini they’ve decided to tune down the design to meet Americans eye. Marcello ended up in a disagreement with his new bosses, left Lamborghini and took his idea to Cizeta. Even though Claudio had his own design and first prototype about 70-80 percent done, he decided to accept Gandinis design. There is so much history behind this car an I am very happy it is not being forgotten. Thanks for sharing this incredible video with us.
the older supercars like that and 959s and dino and m1 sitting there have so much more character than the new ones and id take any one of them over the p1 sitting there . i dont care if there so much slower or less technological i just prefer them
DtRockstar1 todays supercars or hypercars like the veyron or laferrari there no more harder to drive than a family car . pop stars at 20 odd year old are driving veyrons just an example . try throwing an f40 round a twisty road with not much experience . it would kill you . older cars demand more respect there simpler driving machines 4 wheels 2 seats engine manual gearbox and thats it . there driving tools nothing else . the new ferrari 812 ? virtual short wheelbase? now i could google that to find out what it is but i really dont care. theres to much computer technology on cars tjese days that takes the mecbanical enjoyment away from them . my all time dream drive . ferrari f50 roof off straight pipes on an alpine pass through tunnels with the v12 bouncing off the walls and no computer aids at all so if o dont learn to drive it properly ill pay the price.

Yea im trolling the youtube for videos now. The car looks so much better with the boomerang gills. CIZETA V16T engine start up!! jjjs1730 the car is Red.
Wow, what a place - Multiple 959s, M1s, and a Cizeta. I need that in my life! I'm planning on visiting AutoSalon Singen in Germany this summer/fall - should be some cool stuff there, too. Thanks for the vid!
If I remember correctly the thing about the twin V8 is that it was based off two v8's that were mated together, hence the twin cranks. similar to the "LS12" is based off the chevy LS, or the radical V8 is partially based on a Hayabusa engine. I could be wrong, but it's pretty amazing either way.
The truth is in the gray area between the two assertions. Yes, the Cizeta 16-cylinder unit is cast as a single block, but without the gear set at the center of the block the two halves would be autonomous V8s; they have their own distributors, fueling, ignition coils, and there are four separate cylinder heads. In fact, the two V8 halves of the engine share their design with the Lamborghini Urraco V8 -- bore, stroke, and bore centers.
Man, I remember requesting a Cizeta video like this on your video with the pop-up headlights testing. You sure did deliver haha! 😂 There's also a video that came out in January of a Cizeta starting up and moving for a photoshoot in Japan. Maybe 2017 will finally be the year for more Cizeta footage! Thank you for this video!
Thank you, Max!! I just saw the video of the red one starting up a couple days ago, it gave me the chills. I am working on doing a video shoot with an operational Cizeta, and I'm making headway!
I wonder if any parts are shared with the Diablo? The glass (especially the windshield) looks like a direct swap. The hood looks like a direct swap also. Great video! wherever your at looks amazing. 2 M1 cars 959. I'd love to tour this facility.
thanks for posting this rare beauty! The only ever produced Cizeta "MORODER".. i always thought Georgio still had this prototype in his garage. So he is still the owner? (German Georgio Moroder Wikipedia entry says he still is..)
Thank you for the Video! This car is nearly forgoten. I can remember, when it hit the market. It was awesom - a V16 in the back. The most Detail - and that has no other car - the four popup lights. Looks strange but a "one of a kind" Thing.
Thank you very much! And you are right, I booked a flight the moment I found out that this car was there. I just KNEW I would regret it if I never took the opportunity to see it!
I remember seeing this car in all the cool car magazines back when it came out. They even made a yellow Cizeta spyder that was shown at Concorso Italia in California. The reason this car was made was because Chrysler completely redesigned the Diablo. The Italians didn't like this. This is what the Diablo was supposed to look like. As you can imagine the designer used to work for Lamborghini. Thanks.
"The reason this car was made was because Chrysler completely redesigned the Diablo. " Actually Claudio Zampolli had left Lamborghini in 1985 already and founded Cizeta the same year. He was looking around for business partners and knew different musicians and actors who liked Lamborghinis he had specifically tuned and trimmed for them. At one point actor Sylvester Stallone was approached to be his business partner. It fell through. Lamborghini knew they had to try and replace the aging Countach and asked Gandini to pen a replacement. Mind you this was 1986 so the suggested shape looked like a "modernized Countach" with the typical sharp angles of the 80's still present. You can look for it by searching for Lamborghini P132 (1986). Lamborghini's just newly appointed owner Chrysler didn't believe Gandini's design had potential and rejected it. Claudio Zampolli on the other hand decided the shape would do for his car which would become his own "Super-Lamborghini a la Zampolli". That being said he ALSO wasn't satisfied with Gandini's design and actually made several alterations of the rear in order to make the car wider - to be able to fit the transverse V16, something Gandini never had in mind when he penned the car. If you look at the Lamborghini P132 prototype you'll see that the rear of the car actually resembles a Diablo much more than a Cizeta V16T. It appears as if the rear *did* end up being kept for the Diablo, but was completely redesigned and widened by Zampolli. Fact is only the *front half* of Gandini's Countach replacement remained on the Cizeta-Moroder prototype. Zampolli made his own alterations so the idea that this is how the Diablo would have looked like is false.
Thank you so much for posting this, very interesting video on a very rare car. I had always heard that this was 2 V8 engines. Thank you for setting it straight
very interesting car. ive always been fascinated by it. i do think the diablo is a much more attractive design. from my understanding chrysler played a role in modifying the diablo design (not to marcello gandini's liking) or it might have looked even more similar to the cizeta. thanks for sharing this oddball stuff with us.
Claudio Zampolli actually altered Gandini's design too. Especially the rare saw some changes. Zampolli made the rear much wider to accomodate the transverse V16
Takes up less space length-wise. There are two crankshafts because the power is taken out of the middle, from between two banks of 8 cylinders. The engine and transmission form a shape of a "T". That's why it was called the V16T.

Still is one of my Favorites, from when I was younger.
I am working on a 1/24 scale model of the Cizeta V16.
wow. Great to see this car again. I remember it so well. What a find, thanks for sharing!
Very unique car and what a special place Canepa Motorsports is...

I totally agree. Cars of that era just had something in them that is hard to put your finger on.

Yes sir!! One of the best collections I've ever seen, and this car was took the cake for me.

Cool and interesting video. I've never heard of thar car before. I really like the deep gray paint on that Ferrari behind you.
Thanks Gino! It is a car that should have been. :)
Is it still produced on a built-to-order basis or have they already stopped making it?
I'm pretty sure you can still order one. They are currently working on a new model.
DtRockstar1 you can still order a cizeta? That's crazy
Thank you so much for posting this, very interesting video on a very rare car. I had always heard that this was 2 V8 engines. Thank you for setting it straight
You bet my friend! Thank you for your support and checking it out. There's not enough coverage of these cars, and it's time to change that.
Awesome car. Those 959's in the background with the P1 though wow! O___O
And this is a true unicorn.
I'd give you $200 for a 30-minute tour of that garage! Thanks for the excellent video
Haha! Well, it's not 30 minutes long, but I did do a tour video of the whole place which you can see here: ua-cam.com/video/Eayp26JqlDI/v-deo.html
Bring it back to Italy! :)

if I win lotto that would land in my garage along with isdera commendatore, lagonda, detomaso Pantera and vector...God I love rare supercars.
MotoTrucker You are my new best friend, lol. You just named my favorite supercars.
DtRockstar1 there is something mesmerising in those edges and unusual curves isn't it? ;-)
oh yeah! And the fact that you don't see them in 1,354,854,332,109 other youtube videos! lol
DtRockstar1 oh, its only because I don't get to film them, otherwise it would be even more videos:-D
i would buy an Isdera Imperator, Bugatti EB110 SS, Vector W8, Bizzarini P538, Detomaso Mangusta, Lola T70 (converted for road use).
The mechanical designers who designed the mechanics and the chassis of the cizeta, worked at bugatti eb110 few years later.
Dtrockstar1 how old are you man?
Old enough to remember when Terminator 2 came out!
DtRockstar1 dude terminator 2 is the shit I used to love that movie and terminator 1 come on man how old are you
DtRockstar1 I used to love that movie tho they used that Guns and Roses song when he's on that bike shit was legendary
DtRockstar1 dude pls respond
Cool car but that Dino behind DT is gorgeous
how teh fuk do you mount a v16 transversely
Takes up less space length-wise. There are two crankshafts because the power is taken out of the middle, from between two banks of 8 cylinders. The engine and transmission form a shape of a "T". That's why it was called the V16T.
Imagine that as a transformer
i think it looks more like a testarossa than a diablo
Made in Italy... 😉 come le donne , le più belle del mondo .
that wing is awful, was this originally designed to be the diablo, but was considered to wild to go into production by lamborghini and the diablo was redesigned into what it is now. This ended up going into production as a cizeta anyway.
