I was essentially Scout. Biggest tomboy you could find. I lived in the 70/80s in school & Mockingbird is one of my favorite books! I’m finally seeing the play next week in Atlanta!
I read the book in school and cried all through it. Then the movie came out and hit all the major points of the book, but I still cried all the way through it. It was such a truth, both the book and the film, to life.
One of the all time classics. Loved To Kill A Mockingbird. This was an exceptionally interesting interview. How delightfully humble is Mary Badham. Craig's questions and captaining of this conversation is exceptional.
I read that book as a young teen and I was so excited to know there was a movie too. I loved the book best but I also really enjoyed the movie. It’s crazy to think woman had to have their father’s signature for a checking account if they were unmarried. Thanks for sharing.
Wow I am glad she still alive watching gnit now. On TV love the book and movie im 64 hope she knows she was a great part of that movie my fav character❤❤❤❤
The movie was and will always be a "classic" you were so good and natural with and Mr. Peck, so good in this beautiful film. I can view this film over and over. Glad you and Mr. Peck had a good close relationship. Wonderful film.
What a sweetheart! I saw the movie many times while growing up, and of course it is one of my favorites. I have to say I didn't read the book till a few years ago (60 now) and it was wonderful with all the things it brings to life that the film did not. Her story is amazing to listen to. I'm happy to hear that she goes around and spreads the word on the sadness of racism, and how we can all play a part in working on it's disappearance. ✌️🌎 ❤️
What an extraordinary film and what exceptional performances, among the finest I’ve ever seen. Timeless, inspiring, beautiful. We all want to have a dad like Atticus. Thanks for the wonderful interview. Always wondered what happened to Scout.
This is absolutely stunning. A classic movie with meaning, and such a classy, respectful and learned lady is Miss Badham. A magnificent interview, yet again. Am a big fan of Mr Bennett’s approach and intelligence. 🙏
Just saw this incredible interview. You guys really do a darn fine job bringing viewers here interesting celebrities. Mary Badham has such integrity and commonsense. Many thanks
@ ~ 18.57 I was @ tale end of that. You couldn't buy house by urself w/o husband's permission 1964. Couldn't go to nice restaurant w/o being escorted. Even 20 yrs ago young women are surprised by that.
Short of the Bible and a study of the life of Jesus Christ, To KIll A Mockingbird affected my life more profoundly than perhaps any piece of written material. I have both taught it and written materials for teaching purposes on it. Mary, you have done a marvellous job on this interview.

Interesting about Redford. All people say he's good actor, some people say he's difficult, whatever that means.
Scout was like the girl on Fried Green tomatoes tomboy
