Thank you so much for mentioning the adjustment layers! I am a graphic designer so I'm very familiar with the (very necessary) adjustment layers in Photoshop. I didn't realize that Premiere had them! I've been applying effects by hand to singular clips, which has been a real PITA. And thank you for this video. I had some older footage (pre-removal of the auto-white balance feature on my camera). This video allowed me to use it in my channel intro!
Excellent! So glad it helped you out! I agree that layers are crucial, especially when you have multiple clips all recorded with the same settings and lighting. If you have an outlying clip, it’s easy enough to cut your adjustment layer at the clip’s in and out points to fine tune that portion. Here’s to happy channel intros!
Thank you! this is was very useful! I film with my phone and unfortunately if you lock the white balance you also lock the auto focus so the colors are shifting
The search bar is a much faster way of adding Lumetri Color to your adjustment layer, and if your stopwatch is activated, changing the value of the effect will automatically add a keyframe where your playhead is. Just letting you know since you seem to be one of the good ones who cares about efficiency in workflow!
@@AkintayoAdewole I haven't even played around with color correction in premiere pro because I wasn't sure where to start- your video made it look easier than I anticipated! People ask me about it all the time! If I get hung up I'll definitely let you know!
Lindsey Hazel Fixing the type of dynamic color shifts experienced in my first video is a tiny part of color correction. It’s how to save something that’s gone really wrong and you don’t have the option to re-record. It can be totally avoided with best practices, like turning off auto white balance in the first place! Overall, color correction is still not complicated. I will be doing a video on color correction in the near future. But please also note that color correction is just the beginning of color grading. Before you start grading (stylizing) your footage, you want to make sure you have accurate colors and that you are white balanced (i.e. color corrected).
Hi Jhie! In the project panel (lower left corner of screen), there is a row of icons at the bottom of the panel. Click the one that looks like a piece of paper with the corner folded. You'll get a drop down of options... one of them is to add an adjustment layer. Hope that helps!
Okay so... I have to edit every point that shows a shift in temp? What happens if I have a 20 minute clip where this happens every 30 seconds? Is there a more automated process?
Hi, what about video white balance on iPhones? I never had an issue with my 5c or my 6s, but my new 11 has been a different story. Will suddenly jump to cool blue hue without any notice, and for seemingly no reason at all. I see no ability to use a manual white balance on iPhone 11. Any thoughts?
Hi @B3burner. The best way to access manual controls for the iPhone is to use another software app such as FilmicPro. You can control shutter, aperture, ISO and WB. The upgrade also has some cool features such as recording LOG profiles for more flexibility with color correction and grading in post. Check it out at www.filmicpro.com
Thanks! I found this clip while recording a colleague remotely. His camera had auto white balance on.
Glad it helped!
Thanks Tayo! Exactly what I was looking for! Please keep videos coming. Love from home🇳🇬

Thanks man! Great info. Plus good work in using your own outro phrase! Not another Peter Mc knock off! 😀🤩👊
Glad it helped Brad! I like the outro phrase too 😀
Great job on the vid - love your flow and step by steps
Thanks Alden!
Very helpful. Thank you

Key thing: Use keyframes for White balance
Not supported but I wish it were
Thanks for this! I was getting really scared. I had a green screen shoot and without this it would have been a nightmare
Glad it helped Nigel!
Wow I’ve wondered about how to fix this! Thank you so much for sharing this! I’m going to try it with my next video edit!
Excellent Lindsey Hazel! I knew I wasn’t the only one! So glad it was helpful.

Akintayo Adewole ahh gotcha! Thank you for clarifying on that!!
Amazing!!!
Wish I remembered this before I did a studio shoot, one click of a button wouldve saved so much hassle.
Great content!
great vid, thank you sir!
Thanks Nathaniel! Glad you liked!
Hi, may I know how you get adjustment later from the very beginning?

I recently accidentally shot my short film on auto white balance :( so hopefully this helps
hey cj64films! If your color temps were consistent in your scenes, AWB may have yielded a consistent result. If not, I hope the tutorial does help!

Wondering the same thing
