@@GamingTutorialswithJohny I have to say the dual sword reaper build is SO amazing! I am able to dang near do whatever I want with this build. Super awesome job like always!
Just want to throw in and say that I grabbed swords and never looked back. I think that they can drop onto whatever power Reaper build you have so you can play to get their feel and then easily tweak to suit your playstyle. They are just that simple to play. I have a spare Reaper who I will probably gear up per Johny's build just to have more fun on swords.
I’m definitely going to try this build. I just started playing and right now I’m running a thief and once I complete the main story I think I’m going to make a necro.
Thank you very much! I don't think they will, and if it happened, it won't be by much. However, I expect them to improve the functionality of the second channel skills Swords, as they're not worth losing health for in open world.
I'm very glad to know it worked well for you! For this specific build, I think the Blood Fiend is a better option because: 1- It will help a little with taking aggro away from you. 2- It will help Siphon even more health than usual due to the Blood Magic trait line. So it will stay alive longer, and will heal you for more
Thoughts on using death magic over blood (1, 1, 1 OR 1, 1, 3) ? I tweaked the build a bit and went full Marauders with Rune of surging and I am really enjoying it, I keep swapping around utility skills around increasing / decreasing how many minions I wanna bring. So far I've narrowed it down to 2 builds. Exactly what you have, except with all Marauder gear with 1 Diviner ring and surging runes. I swap Blood fiend and Flesh Golem to Shouts. And then exactly what you have, except with all Marauder gear with 1 Diviner ring and surging runes. Death magic over blood, and using shadow fiend instead of spectral grasp.
I tried the build was Death Magic while working on it and I found it to work just fine. However, for me it felt like the whole build synergized together in a better way with Blood Magic. Good job for the changes you made! I highly encourage theory crafting and changing things around to fit your own style. Just keep in mind that with full Marauder there will be times where you may not be able a very hard boss or bounty.
Once again a great, easy to follow build guide. I've only just unlocked the Reaper Elite Spec but I'm stumped in how I can unlock the Sword Proficiency! I unlocked the Weapon Mastery Training on another Profession a month and half ago, so I'm stumped. Do I now need to complete the 'Astral Ward Arsenal' Achievement by collecting the 5 items needed via the Soto Storyline? @TutorialsWithJohny, Thanks again for another quick & to the point build guide And Tia for any help you or your subscribers can give me on the above question.
Yes, that's what you need to do to unlock all the new weapons for all classes, including the swords for Necro. You need to finish the "Astral Ward Arsenal" collection. That can be done during the "The War Council" Story Chapter in the new expansion, or you can buy them in WvW from the Notary vendor
I was already pretty much finished getting the build "low intensity unstoppable for all pve" done, how does this one compare to it? I'm a new player and don't have much gold to throw away buying builds, which one do you think is the strongest and the most fun? i appreciate your help :)
This build is better because Swords will increase your damage AND sustain. If you already had the gear from my other guide, just use it for this build and it will also work fine. The difference won't be much at all. So, use whatever gear you bought for the other build, and then finish whatever you're missing from the gear for this build. As for traits, skills, and how to use the build, follow the ones in this guide. I hope it makes sense and it's not confusing
When you dodge you apply some bleeding, which isn't very reliable. But on the other hand, the other 2 options are not useful for solo open world at all. While "Blood Bond" can be beneficial if ended up fighting a Champ or a Bounty with a couple more people. Basically, it's the best of 3 bad options
Hey Johny! As new player who just unlocked the full reaper traits, I wanted a beginner build for all pve content, would you recommend this build for open world and group pve or the low intensity reaper build that you posted 4 months ago?? 😅
I love this build, dual swords are so much fun, just a question, do u have an alternative for the trinkets stats? ive been struggling trying to find commander's ascended trinkets, and i need ascended because of the AR
You can use Knight Trinkets if you want. The best way to get Commander Trinkets is to get stat selectable ascended trinkets, then choose Commander. Check this guide if you don't know how to do that: ua-cam.com/video/ZRFwUT31ceo/v-deo.html

The bonus of doing 3.5 more SOTO chapters gave me several mastery points that I used to complete flight magic which ended up being quite useful in completing Chapter 14. -- I was warned that Chapter 14 works across a big chunk of the map so I ported in before starting the chapter in order to fly around, grab waypoints and see where things are. That really made the actual work of the chapter much faster and easier. -- While I flew around, I made sure I grabbed all the orbs of Latent Magic I saw because they reward you with Calcified Gasps (currency needed for the Chapter 14 progression). The orbs can give you up to 300 gasps a day but only 150 are needed for this collection. I also grabbed treasure chests for more gasps and loot. Easy peasy. I got all the currency I needed in short order before starting to collect.
