Damn this little gem just came up in my feed.. you evolved very well in making car video. Funny to see how it all started you have way more flow these days. Keep up the good work. I love your reviews.
Thank you for doing this review as I am considering purchasing one in the near future. I have watched several reviews on these suv's and your review was the most thorough i have seen yet hands down. Great job!
The evoque had a version of Ford's 2.0 engine which Volvo and Mazda also used. It has been known to be pretty reliable, so you'll have different things to worry about, like the electronics.
As I said the camera exagerates the tint, and the tiny changes based on UV light so the don't really get very dark in the car (again, it looks darker on camera).
You know that they have different modes for different terrain... so you should be able to press on one of the buttons on the dash that is meant for gravel or rough roads wich makes the shocks a softer allowing for a smoother ride.
It's funny you mention that. I own a 2007 Jeep Wrangler with standard transmission, and frankly I'm sick of how rugged feeling it is and sometimes I'm actually embarassed about how wonky it handles on a FLAT city road. This Evoque model is bloody amazing for the price tag and the miles per gallon is miraculous compared to your "proper 4x4".
At this time all Evoques have the 2.0L four cylinder in America. There have long been rumours about alternative engines but none have happened yet. The new 9-speed automatic should be offered soon so I would probably wait for that model before you dive in.
Got my Evoque in 2012, it's been a darn good whip and fun to drive. Not as practical for long trips as I would like. Looking to trade up for something a little bigger soon. My advice for anyone looking to buy. Do not get the Summer performance continental tires, you will be replacing them often. Great in the corners but expensive to replace. Also please opt for the extended warranty. 4 years/40,000 miles go by really quickly and these Rovers are not cheap to maintain.
Personally, I don't see it as a huge problem. Yes the reliability reports typically show the Land Rover brand as below average but the delta in terms of the number of problems isn't that large. If you're leasing a vehicle or only plan on owning it for about 5 years it doesn't really matter to me. But I'm probably more accepting of problems than the average person.
True come at the same could be said with any car, the exteriro has aged gracefully, I'm a car enthusiast and I can't tell the difference between the 2nd generation and the 1st Gen. Sometimes from a ways away
@@ynwa6d many people here say it breaks down often. However, a friend of mine, owner since 2 years, says otherwise. Still happy? Not a high maintenance car?
He gave us valuable insight into the product as a whole. There are some major flaws with this vehicle. I've tested it myself and do not consider it worth the money at all. There is to much competition in this market for me to consider laying my hard earned money down on such a haphazardly made crossover no matter how grand the name.
you mentioned that this Range Rover Evoque is a based option. Do the surrounding cameras come with the based option also? I went to rangerover website and tried customize the vehicle but I couldn't find surrounding cameras on based option like you're showing in this video.

Chuck W Absolutely unreliable and very expensive... current models are powered by Peugeot diesel engines... those engines are fragile and easily breakdown
I dondt give a shit if they think the Evoque might bie for someone who sticks to the city. Alex, love your car reviews! Any plans to review a newer model year of the Evoque? I'm trying to decide between this and the Lexus NX as I prep for my first child. I miss your car seat review for the Evoque and wonder if newer models have improved some of the infotainment system features. I really like the look of the Evoque, but from a safety and reliability standpoint is it really the right option?
Melissa Arredondo buy a mercedes glc. We have an evoque and it is really cramped, but lovely to drive. The nx is dreary and boring, drove it 400 miles and it was terrible. No feel, twithcy and bad suspension. The evoque is a very good car to drive, but not practical at all. The glc seems to be a good compromise
@@subtitledEN sold it almost 4 years ago so telling from memory. For your use case it should be perfect, the front seats are spacious and good. The backseats are cramped and the baggage room is kind of small. What I say applies to a 2016 Evoque with the ingenium diesel engine without dynamic pack. I would test drive one properly before hand. The cars suspension is kind off harsh according to me and on the car is very noisy on rough asphalt so bear that in mind if the roads you are going to drive on arent in the best condition. When test driving also focus on the gearbox, the 4 to 5 shift is very rough often on ZF 9 speed gearbox and its sluggish to respond to sudden throttle input. I value comfort and smoothness highly in my cars so it was an issue for me. Also note the vibration in the steering wheel when the car is in drive but not moving (like a stop light). You will feel vibrations in the steering wheel that subtly increases (most prominent on the diesels) and is said to be normal for the car. Its mostly small stuff put all together it was a bit much for me and I decided to sell it. I would predict you'd be fine, but I would be concerned about leaks with the snow melting. I am a fellow New Englander although we don't get too heavy of snow here in Ct
I love the convertible Evoque concept car they created. Does anyone know what the status of it is? I have heard conflicting reports--some say it's coming out in late 2014, others say it's not going to be made.
Hey Alex, I really like this car and I was thinking of buying it. Is it a good idea? I cant waste money on any car just like that. My budget is somewhat low. I live in UAE, and we don't have snow or other kind of obstacles/weather that might make driving difficult over here. Im still in High School, so I would most probably use my car for driving to HS back and forth, maybe hangout with my friends or go to malls. Should I consider buying this?
