When I first saw this game when it was initially revealed, I was at least somewhat intrigued by it since no other company was attempting what Splatoon did in terms of a shooter. While I was probably never going to play it, just seeing gameplay from your stream and even learning more here tells me all I need to know. Foamstars is really lacking a sense of soul and identity. It's like Square Enix took the basic concept of Splatoon and just added their typical nonsense that people criticize them for and called it a day. There is so much Splatoon nailed from its art style and gameplay to its music and content distribution. The fact that this game wants to drop real money is crazy to me, Splatoon pretty much gives you everything you need with free content updates every few months. I don't want to see this game fail cause I genuinely think it's a cool spin on what Splatoon brings to the table, but Square seriously needed to take their time to understand why people love Splatoon and apply that here. Especially since we're in a situation where companies are dropping live service games, they don't do well, and the cycle just repeats until they get a hit.

@@von4297 One skin actually cost about $10. All items in the bundle (except for the bubble beastie skin) can be bought separately. $45 for a bundle is mad expensive though.
People that are enjoying Foamstars reminds of Stadia fans. You can enjoy the game all you want, but this is a live service game that almost no one is playing, with a terrible image from the gaming community. Don't be delusional about this game future.
I never knew their were people who were optimistic about stadia and I do remember how aggressive the marketing was for it.
To be honest, i have only played the single player mission mode so I can get use to the characters, and i enjoyed it. I must say I like your video and you are right about the music. Keep up the good work.
Shame to see the game's such a mess. Do all the stages look as boring/samey as this? Or is there actually only one level? Looks like this game misses on a lot of the finesse points Splatoon's been iterating on for three titles now.
There's only like 3 stages in the whole game. It's really that barren.

I really hope this sends a message to square. Thanks for making it free for a month, because that was the only way I was even adding it to my library but after seeing those egregious character cosmetic pack prices, nah I'm staying away.
I KNOW a game needs to make money but THAT is insane pricing. I can spend that much and get like 3 games that are on low sale for even more gameplay. I could just go buy Helldivers 2
When I read a article on this game having microtransactions and basically false advertising a "free game" I unsurprisingly knew that the game wasn't going to last long and i think square was thinking it will be a instant success
I disagree with the music take. I can understand it not being your thing or maybe you took it personally because someone was comparing it to splatoon’s music, but I actually think it’s quite good. Granted I’ve only heard about 4-5 tracks, but I enjoyed 4 of them. I also think the visuals and art direction taken in this game is cool. This is from someone who has no interest in this game or cares if it succeeds. I am a complete outsider to this genre and have discovered this title by hearing its OST. I am essentially unbiased.

Therefore my opinion isn’t biased based on me loving the game and wanting to defend it. You’d know that if you read what I said and didn’t choose to leave out what you didn’t like 😘
Not a single track in this game is memorable. To sit here and say that soundtrack is good is disingenuous.
@@Shadicstick The main theme is pretty memorable. You not liking it doesn’t make my argument disingenuous because I’m not the only one who thinks that. For a niche game there are plenty of uploads of the OST and views on those. People wouldn’t be doing that if they disliked the music. To try and discredit the argument based solely on personal bias and ignoring that fact shows that you aren’t even open to hearing the dialogue. So there is no point on arguing any further.

For me, i'm having fun playing this game, the music are great! The gameplay is 🆗, the chara design is cool, the game mode are fun, i hope see more in the future, the only bad things is the monetization for me! Beside this the game is very well and it's not dead yet 💪🏾😙👍🏾
How’ve you been enjoying p3 reload? I assume your playing it since your using the dorm as the background music though it is the og version of the dorm but still

I just want Square to do a better job with this game because I think it has a good base. He obviously commented before watching because not once in the video did I discuss player count. I even stated that title was hyperbolic at the beginning of the video. Again, watch before you comment.

I have a job, games cost money plus I don't have the time. Not a hard concept to grasp if you have responsibilities outside of playing video games.
$45 for an alternate outfit is absolutely wild. And here I thought Ninjala's $20 outfits were going too far
Im also surprised the game is a PS exclusive. Its a bit of a limited market especially sense you have to pay for PS+ just to play it.
A free to play game needs to be free and on many platforms as possible.
Simple solution, port the game to PC and watch the playerbase explode.

Couldn't agree more about the fact the matches are overwhelming and chaotic that you don't know who you're with majority of the time. A map would probably be a good QoL imo.
I don't play Splatoon but this game isn't close to being its clone, I find Splatoon to be the better of the two. Foamstars' gunplay felt like you're using Grenade Launchers. The game also punishes you to the core if you reload mid-fight which is more atrocious if you get team fight.
Ranks are the worse. I got matchmade by a group of teams almost all the time and ranking up are just so bad, kinda left that mode out after I got my Trophy.
Monetization is just as bad as the other live service games I have and still play so I ain't going there, to each their own. The music is fine.
Is it dead on arrival? Depends on where you are I'd think. I live in Asia and I switch between Singapore and Malaysia and the playerbase is still healthy much to my surprise since I just played this week, it might come to a point where I will struggle to find one match but I haven't gotten to that point yet.
as a die hard Splatoon fan Splatoon 3 right now is in a really good spot right now. The Meta has a huge variety of good options there's at least a couple good weapons for each weapon class (except for the bows, those weapons are garbage.) Also Side Order comes out in a couple days as of typing this comment. But yeah I suggest Splatoon 3

@reuben6483 even fresh season 2024 with the weapons has a lot and I have read a lot of positive feedback on the weapons despite the fact pro gamers like Chara and Ken knows blowing up anything negative about the upcoming season like it's no tomorrow but I have trouble trying to find what comments is coming off as being blind bashing or constructive criticism

@Shadicstick just thought I correct you. The character skins aren't $45. That's the bundle price that comes with the skin and a bunch of customizables like the board, your bubble friend, and etc. But yea, they are still charging a lot for skins, though, lol.
It's $11 for a skin, $9 for a couple pallette swaps. Still outrageous, it's not even a free game! This game makes me miss the slightly less greedy days where you could unlock costumes without additional charge. They can't even give us a unique skin with the season pass.

When I first saw this game at the state of play I knew it was gonna be a disappointment. Mainly because the game wanted to be a copy & paste version of Splatoon and didn't really try to innovate are do things differently in its mechanics and gameplay like what palworld did. It's just a cash grab at the end of the day and that's just sad.

Aside from the gameplay foamstars just looks like they took splatoons concept and stripped away most of what gave it a unique identity through what I've seen of the characters and "story mode" I dont think I could find myself being attached to any of them like in splatoon. It's a shame really 😭

It's sad cause this could've been more than a shitty Splatoon clone but they REALLY dropped the ball. They can honestly turn it around but it's just disappointing in all honesty.

@@HighkeYFoxYFortnite skins and skin sets do not cost that much. Fortnite is known for it's "bang for your buck" cosmetics cause most skins come with extra cosmetics or are sold in packs with v-buck. $45 for cosmetics that are ultimately character locked is insane.
They're going to fumble the bag with this one just like Warlander. They make awesome gameplay but they cant get their shit together with management

Not having fake in game currency is a MAJOR positive. Having direct money purchases is way more consumer friendly and having fake credits is super bad. Weird take to disagree with this.
In a game with a battle pass, I believe it's needed. It would be one thing if things in this game were reasonably priced and you could earn stuff but you can't. There is no VC to give away. I'm typically against VC but after being a long term Fortnite player, it can work.
$10-20 for a cosmetic pack that typically includes multiple skins with currency you can earn through gameplay (even if it's very little) is better than $45 for character locked cosmetics with a singular skin, no?
@@Shadicstick the only way this currency would be ok is if you could not buy it with real money. Any time you start creating fake currencies that have zero real value and manipulate players into thinking they do, thats a bad thing.
