- THE BRAND NEW STIHL HSA 100 HEDGETRIMMER/HEDGER
This summer I was fortunate enough to get an early look at the HSA 100 hedge trimmer. The hedge trimmer will be for sale through your local dealer in 2023.
I hope you enjoy this first look at this new Hedge trimmer from STIHL.
Always a enjoyable watch. Stihl definitely know how to make what professional gardeners need 👍
Cheers buddy.
It’s amazing how much R&D goes into their products.
Thats wonderful moment when you realise another fully charger gardener episode is out !
🤣 Cheers
Yes a grease port well done Stihl 👌 another top piece of kit 👍
It has some nice changes compared to the HSA 86. Metal gearbox housing and as you say, the grease port. The safety switch is on the inside of the loop handle.. and of course. THE TWISTY HANDLE!! 😀
Thank you for watching 👍
Such a professional video. Love it! And that garden is awesome. The hedges are pristine.
I think the HSA 100 is next in the Stihl collection I need, particularly with that twist handle. Game changer.
Thank you very much
Best review I’ve seen on the HSA 100
Thank you for watching
Nice one. Like the hedge cutting jiggle at the end 😁🤣
🤣🤣🤣 Bet you didn’t know I could moonwalk and cut hedges at the same time
@@TheFullyChargedGardener a great skill to have
@@hectorgrowsveg 🤣
Looks a very interesting machine, grease port 👌
A nice upgrade from your 86 😀 Some nice little upgrades.
Great video mate and nice trimmer i must say 👌🏼😍🍃🍃
😀 Cheers 🧡 Thank you for watching chap 👍
Braw bit of kit! Definitely upgrading from my hsa 86!
😀 COOL! - Thank you for watching 👍
Nice One Thanks again 👍
😀 Always great to hear from regular viewers! As always - Thank you for watching 👍
Great skills, great work, great video.. All Pro
Thank you very much 😀
This is going on my shopping list when it gets to New Zealand. At the moment I have to run the trimmer attachment on KMA 130 or 135. Gets a little interesting to manoeuvre on smaller hedges.
It will make a great addition to your tool kit. Very cool that you are watching all the way from NZ. Are you in North or South Island?
@@TheFullyChargedGardener I am in Hamilton. It's in the north island. About 1 and 1/2 hours south of Auckland.
I started a full battery powered lawn mowing business in Feb this year. I use all stihl products as they seem to have the best back up for battery equipment where I am.
I have never been to the North Island - Have been to the South Island a couple of times. NZ is Bootiful!!
Battery kit is an absolute game changer! 😀
@@TheFullyChargedGardener I never even considered going gas. There is a big outlay at the start. But it makes up for itself. Only cost me $3 a week to charge all 9 of my ap300s battery each night.
I don't have to worry about oil, Spark plugs, air filters. No gas cans and pre mix in my van.
@@TheFullyChargedGardenerI got around to picking up an HSA 100 last week. Got some jobs coming up that it will be very useful for.
Brilliant video! Cheers!👍
😀 Thank you for watching 👍
I’m so tired of paying $32.00/gal for TruFuel, I’m seriously considering going electric with all my equipment. You bolster my confidence that it will work for me!👍
Ta for the video mate .. we appreciate the information
😀 Thank you for watching! Hope all is well with you chap 👍
@@TheFullyChargedGardener all good here ..
After watching your previous video advertising the HSA 94 R I ordered one, £430 Must have been a year ago! Yesterday it eventually arrived I was so happy 😊 I've found using it with the umbilical cord a bit of a nightmare especially using it with my henchman ladders. Yesterday you put a new hedge trimmer on your channel 🤣🤣🤣 and now I wish I'd waited for that one. Probably will be another year before that one arrives 🙄😡
By way of consolation (!), I'm sure you've not wasted your money, despite the slightly irritating cable. I've felt the quality of the HSA 94 and that machine is definitely built to last and deal with tougher stuff than this new 100 model. Some reviews have said the 94 is the best hedge trimmer ever built...period. But then it all depends on personal requirements. This one is basically an improved replacement to the HSA 86 (that I've almost worn out despite fussy maintenance). The 86 is rather plasticky and designed for lighter jobs, but it's been a great, handy machine & no doubt this 100 will be much better, but it'll still be aimed at a similar work-level.
Nice trimming dude
There is a newer version HSA 100.1 without the thumb lock-out lever, but it’s not yet available in the US.
Nice one Andy. It’s a very nice tool and a great addition to the AP range. Keep up
the great content 👍🏼
Gotta love a twisty handle!
As always - thank you for watching 😀
Nice and finally a pivoting handle in the ap range
There has been a pivoting handle trimmer in the AP range for quite some time, but now there is one that takes the battery directly in the unit.
@@TheFullyChargedGardener yes that’s what I was meaning finally one that takes the battery itself
Looks like a nice addition to the range. I would like to see the 94r with a battery built in.
And a 94T too 😉
@@TheFullyChargedGardener the 94t is a beast machine! Love mine.
@@karlitobergkamp8082 Me too - best Buxus trimmer on the market 😀
Very Professional content and one can see that you love what you do. I like the part from 4.30, you move along the hedge like one of those KUKA production robots. 😂 And great trimmer anyway, the moveable handle made my decision for this one instead of the hsa66. Keep trimming and all the best to you from Germany. 👍
Great video once again put my order in today
Thank you for watching
I've used the Pellenc, Stihl 94R and now the Husky 520ihd60. I feel the Husky is is on par with the the Stihl 94R, but I would run the Husky with the belt setup, but choosing again in the shop I would go for the Stihl. Pellenc is in a other league it's much more nimble in the hands, but the backpack I had was to heavy, I didn't need power for several days.
Have you tried the 94T? It’s frikin awesome!!
Hey it looks nice How’s it still holding up ? I need something with torque which can handle thick sticks . Nice video
I returned the machine to stihl after making this video.
I did test it on some quite thick laurel branches whilst I had it and it handled them really well. stihl have a good balance of torque and cutter speed with this unit.
@@TheFullyChargedGardenerWhy did you return it back to Stihl after this video?
Just wish they would produce a hedge trimmer with the performance of the hsa 94t with less weight, its still to heavy . Great informative videos .
Hi Andy great video as always is that a grease point i spotted underneath 👍🏼🍃🍃
It is indeed a grease point 😀
Looking forward to replacing to my Milwaukee hedge trimmer with this model. I'm Also running a HSA94T but only use it for fine cutting.
😀 Cool. Thank you for watching
Do you prefere the hsa94r or the hsa100 ? And which one has more torque ? Thanks for the vid 👍🏻
I personally prefer the 94T - I have not used the 94R.
I would assume that the 94R has slightly more torque that the HSA 100? But from what I experienced when using the 100 it is a very capable machine, as I hope you could see from the shots in the video.
Thank you for watching 👍
Hi everybody! Can anyone confirm does it have variable speed trigger or it runs at fixed 3000 strokes per minute? I have hsa 86 and it does have variable speed, but I'm not sure about this one
It is a variable speed trigger.
@@TheFullyChargedGardener Thanks for the reply! Friend of mine got HSA 100 and it works only at fixed speed, so either his machine is faulty or Stihl released some units without variable speed... Not sure..
My HSA100 is a fixed speed. I still prefer the HSA86 with variable speed, batteries last much longer and it’s lighter. HSA100 has much lower vibes though.
@@TheFullyChargedGardenerJust ordered the HSA100 and you say that it is variable speed but some say it is a fixed speed. Will mine still be variable speed?
hsa 100 or the hsa94 which would you rather use
I would always choose the 94 (130) T - I don’t mind the umbilical cord and find the machine a pleasure to use. If you do lots of ladder work the 100 is a better option
Looks good, I'm a Tree arb has well jet washing driveways, but I do hedge maintence ( not has much use to ) I own the Msa top handle chain saw and a Makita one. I can see in the next 5 years a lot of the hand tools will be battery . This is something I might be interested in has I would rather have the battery in the unit then out side.
Battery is definitely growing in popularity. It offers so many benefits to the operator and the customer.
This machine has a great feel to it, comfortable and well balanced.
Thank you for watching
@@TheFullyChargedGardener I have one large hedge job I do 2 times a year that would put this hedge cutter to a really good test .
Looks good but happy to keep my 94t which I love.
The 94T is a fantastic bit of kit. By far the best hedge trimmer on the market.
Thank you for watching 👍
So Is it single speed? Does it have a variable speed trigger? 3,000 strokes per minute seems on the low side but I'm guessing with the wide blade gap and high torque motor it's probably geared more towards the thick stuff? Seemed to cut the Buxus nice mind 👍🏻
It has a variable speed trigger, so acts just like a petrol machine. It is definitely geared up for a balance or torque and speed. It did a great job on the Buxus.
Thank you for watching.
@@TheFullyChargedGardener certainly looks a nice bit of kit!
@@joshuabush2569 A nice upgrade from the 86
@@TheFullyChargedGardener do you know if the STIHL hedge trimmer blades are hardened steel? And the other battery long reach trimmers etc? I know the blades are very nice quality but I couldn't find anything about them being hardened on the Stihl website...
Where can I buy this in Canada. They have all models except for this one
I’m not sure when this unit will be available in Canada. Best to ask your local dealer when it will be launched in your area.
Thank you for watching.
Heeey, finally a successor to the aging Stihl HSA86! The ergonomics with the rotating handle is much better, isn't it? how is the number of strokes per minute compared to the HSA86? According to my taste, it could run a little faster, especially with Thuja. Great video! Greetings Steven
Hi Steven, definitely some nice updates over the HSA86. The strokes per min are the same as the 86 - it seems the machine is geared for torque over speed.
Thank you for watching
When will this be available to buy in the UK?
It will be available next year.
Looks a cracking machine, i will be replacing it with my HSA66 which ive had for 6 years its never let me down.
@@leonball5132 😀 Cool
I thought English gardeners used only professional hand shears, trimming the evergreens rapidly?
My uncle a horticulturist taught me how to shear by hand, I remember distinctly “ keep the shears moving! Don’t stop!”
When is this coming out?
Sometime in 2023
Thanks for the video, can’t wait to get one. Does this also have a stroke rate of 5000?
Is this just like my HSA94T but without the tether?
No, 3000.
So it's more like the 94R
@@janwoelker oh that’s lame. I guess I’ll give this one a miss. Dam, I really wanted to finally get rid of the backpack battery.
This unit has a stroke rate of 3000. It is geared more for torque rather than speed. Much in the same way the 94R is.
Rather have a husqvarna, far stronger but a little bit more weight. I'm happy to see that stihl finally adapted a twisting handle. My employer works with stihl but when I work for myself in private time I love my husqvarna tools, far stronger and ergonomic! ✌🏻
Thank you for watching 👍
Nice attention to detail with the box hedge - kudos. But all you showed was fine finishing work - no cutting deep into a neglected hedge. If the machhine's constantly reversing because it's not up to cutting the material between the jaws, then it maybe won't damage the motor...good!...but it won't get the work done either....bad!
So why not show more taxing jobs?
I did show it cutting some long thick laurel. I make these videos in my own time - fitting in around work and family life. Sometimes it is not possible to cover every scenario, with every machine.
Thank you for watching
Are you still putting videos out now ?
Hi, I have just posted a new video.
There as been a lot going on the last few months. I am going to make a video to explain :-)
@@TheFullyChargedGardener Already liked it 👍
Run time?
I did talk about run time in the video 👍
Mine’s just jammed just cutting a box hedge. Never had that before! Even my wife’s ‘toy’ Bosch hedge trimmer has coped better than this. My old petrol Stihl never jammed either. What’s going on?
Have you spoken to your local Stihl dealer about it?
@@TheFullyChargedGardener loosened the bolts and managed to prise out the twigs. Just unlucky I guess that so many caught along the length at the same time. Hope it’s not a regular problem. I thought it had some kind of reverse action if jammed?
Always a good idea to wear loose fitting shirts whilst using a hedge trimmer!!!
4:07 👍
Very annoying tip protector, mines in for repair after little use , yours rattles more than it should listening to it , does it have s vibration? If it does take it back for repair 👍
This was a pre production demo unit from Stihl, so only on loan.
Not bad if you can get the batteries for them, so I hear
I think it is safe to say that with everything that has happened over the last couple of years, and current global issues. All manufacturers have struggled to keep up with consumer demand. As frustrating as it might be, we all need to be understanding.
@@TheFullyChargedGardener Agreed, a shame though all the same, I was set on getting an electric strimmer a month or two ago but had to go petrol again due to the wait time on the batteries
@@starboy832 That is a shame. Hopefully you are able to make the switch over to battery sometime soon. 👍
ONE THING I'VE FOUND WITH THE 100 VS THE 86 IF YOUR CUTTING SAY BEACH OR SOMETHING LONG THE BLADE TIP GAP GETS LONG BITS STUCK SO DOESNT GLIDE THROUGH...IT CAN'T CUT THE LONG BIT AND PREVENTS SMOOTH GLIDE. ..ANYONE ELSE NOTICE THIS? APART FROM THAT IT'S SMOOTH AND QUIET BUT I'M FINDING THAT BIT ANNOYING AND DON'T think it should be like that the 86 isn't
Da braucht es erst einen Briten für ein vernünftiges Video. Thank you!
Errrr...the cost?
Prices will be published in next years catalog 👍
Short hedge trimmers are no good. I use mine a couple times a year. I use the hla66 on everything 2.1 or 2.3m machine cant remember exactly. Much better and fast. Stand up straight. Cut all the straps off and move the rubber handle all the way forward.
I wouldn’t go so far as to say that short hedge trimmers are no good. I guess it all comes down to personal preference.
The long reach trimmers are definitely very versatile 😀
Thank you for watching 👍
@@TheFullyChargedGardener They are good against walls ect where you can't get a hla6x, some shaping of trick maniquered foliage, or one your knees to cut back something really thick and stubborn to ground level. All of which I have managed with a HLA. For long knee height hedges it's all about speed and fatigue. I don't think this would be quicker. Not for a beginner who's not strong and has to bend. I mean personally I could probably do it just as good if I got my hands on this vs the HLAs. All day would be hard. Maybe I'll buy one (the short one I've got isn't very good and not stihl but i dont really use it) and test the difference. I suspect it would be night and day.
You created art with that hedge trimmer, mad skills, great video but PLEASE shorten your intro it’s far too long
😀 Thank you
The new ECHO dhc 2800r / 2200r battery hedge trimmer is a better machine than this. Not cheap, but it feels more solid & less “plasticky” than the STIHL. And the ECHO’s twisty handle system is also far better. Why STIHL didn’t make a more professional-grade tool with a similar handle to their (petrol) HS 82 model seems strange. I realise they have their own “pro” battery machines, but they have a slightly annoying cable connection. The new ECHO is impressive.
Thank you for watching 😀
Only 3000 rpm....
I think stihl have chosen a balance between cutter speed and torque, which allows it to cope with thicker stems. a great all rounder. thank you for watching.
