      Paying attention in class doesn't mean less energy on the basketball court, nor does it justify his anti-intellectual sentiments. He doesn't need to study super hard. But a 2.0 GPA is a matter of basic effort and attitude. To be honest, I am a bit worried as a Philly fan regarding his realizing his full potential.

      Joseph Tedros I'd be the same way to be honest. I hate institutionalized education and their busy work "assignments". If I knew I'd be going to the league I'd do the bare minimum in the classroom to remain eligible. Maybe it's just me and don't get me wrong I absolutely love learning, but I just like learning only what I want to know. I feel like college is a titanic waste of money, teaching subjects that can be googled and learned by anyone that has a passion or interest on any given topic. Hands on experience and solo learning are my go to methods. Those are all just my humble opinions and you don't have to accept them. I just wanted to voice that point of view.

      Why does it matter whether or not he knows physics? A large amount of the facts we are taught are derived from some sort of STEM field. Now, of course you won't be able to learn all the information from these fields, so it's quite common for the average man to rely on people who work on these sorts of STEM fields for their information.
      Unless you're saying that the world is in fact flat, in which case my above statements don't really matter as you wouldn't be able to comprehend any of them.

    I expect Javale Magee to have an almost unlimited ceiling based on this. People with high IQ are often attempting to synchronize more incoming data than most people but over time as connections are made the many loose ends this approach produces resolve into competence with proper application and practice. When Javale starts to look really confident on the court look out.

      Pretty sure you can be accepted to most community colleges, but to get into an actual University, especially the prestigious ones, you need good grades and SAT scores.
      It's a bit different here in Canada but still similar, way easier to get into 'college' but if you want to get into 'university' you need to do above average in secondary school.

    Eh I really question the general intelligence of a lot of athletes, especially student athletes. They're on the road so much for games and tournaments, where is there time for meaningful lessons or teaching of legitimate courses like math and English (not supposedly made up bs courses that the UNC men's basketball team has been accused of offering their athletes over the last 20 years. I don't think any ruling was made regarding that, but it's still disturbing. Also 1996-97 University of Minnesota men's basketball, another student was being paid to basically do their college work so they could play, thereby vacating their best season ever. I'm sure this happens elsewhere too behind closed doors, these instances were just brought to light)
    Also, Intelligence is not how good you supposedly were in school (grades and gpas can be inflated by taking easier courses or just completely made up), it's what you do with what you did learn, and also true that you get out what you put into school. I'm almost certain many athletes, especially those going pro, do not put in the effort to learn about life should they not make it to the pros or if their careers end.
    With that said, there are many athletes who are smart and prepared for life after sports, and that's great for them. While I won't say athletes are not smart people, I don't think grades, gpas, or colleges attended are always very good indicators of how smart they really are.

      That's why their high school and not just college scores were given. Also intelligence and education level aren't necessarily proportional. The video also listed the actual majors of most of the athletes and even mentioned how Jaylen Brown for example was taking grad classes as a freshman. If you were paying attention or had as high of intelligence as you seem to think you have then you would've realized your comment was an actual big waste of time.

    JR Rider was another guy that was said to be very bright. For anyone who remembered him playing in the NBA, he was most known for making a promise the win the slam dunk his rookie year in 1994 when the was drafted 5th by the T Wolves in 1993. He was also remembered as someone be who always let his emotions get the best of him. When he played for the Hawks, Dikimbe Mutombo said that he is one of the most intelligent people he ever known and that says a lot, especially from someone like Mutombo, who has a PhD in medicine.

    That's a very hard comment right there. I don't think Javale has low basketball IQ at all. Most of the things are just memes and influence of shaqtin a fool. I believe he had reasonable basketball IQ, he just has mental lapses sometimes which is very different... or just plainly trying too hard.

    • @Mastaace
      @Mastaace 6 років тому +4

      Na but without all the Shaqtin a fool stuff when Javale was younger he CONSTANTLY blocked shots emphatically...into the stands. That kind of stuff is trying to make highlights rather than gain possession of the ball which = low bball IQ. I think that was actually one of the main things he got the bad rap from BEFORE Shaqtin a Fool was a thing.
