Miss Philippines gave the worst answer of all and Miss USA was just okay. NZ spoke so well and was the most elegant of the finalists. She deserved the crown or at least First Runner-up.

Why so? The first-runner up in 1975 was a black woman from Haiti, as well as Miss Universe winner 1977, black and gorgeous, from Trinidad & Tobago. Philippines had already been winners by then twice, and Peru, Colombia and Venezuela had already won a MU crown each. I don't see the racism there!
