  • Doc talks about adding carbon to soils in the fall and winter.
    Product Links → www.howtowithd...
in the late fall and winter we can start improving our lawn soils. The first step is a good quality soil test. next we can add carbon via HUMICHAR and make adjustments to our lawn soil PH. The best time to adjust the lawn PH is in the winter months. Adding carbon to the lawn all winter will get the soil ready for the spring and allow us to use less fertilizer.

@@Hondasonatta My lawn in Texas is a beautiful dark green, and it keeps getting thicker. I put down Humichar once per month (4+ lbs per 1,000 sq. ft.). I put down a light coat of PGF Complete once per month, as long as the temperature will be 80+ for the next 2 weeks (3.6 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft.). I use the Super Juice as needed when I feel like the lawn isn't as dark green as it should be, which isn't too often.

    Hi Doc,
Put my HumiChar down last week for the first time. I’m driving my husband crazy because I’m ordering all of these products for the lawn and watching your UA-cam channel. Working great on cool season grass!
But he is impressed with how the lawn now looks now after two applications of pgf complete. He’s all in now!
    Thanks!

I found your UA-cam Channel in late May 2020 as I sat on my front porch having my morning coffee, and wondering why my yard look so bad. So I called my lawn care company and fired them. I then ordered a McLane 25” mower, super juice, Humichar, and PGF Complete. I have been putting Humichar down ever two weeks, PGF Complete every month, and super juice every month. The transformation was almost instantaneous. I have the shortest and greenest grass in the neighborhood. Then the cooler temperature hit northwest Georgia and my grass started turning yellow. The I received my shipment of PGF Balance, put Humichar, and PGF Balance down just before we had a rain storm Monday night and Tuesday, my yard is back to being as green as it was in July. I am a hard person to impress, but these products are amazing!!! I am so glade I found your UA-cam Channel.

Hi Doc. I put down my first bag of Biochar on my new lawn the end of August. The sod was put down at the end of March. I have been using PFG Complete with Humid acid all summer. Lawn looks great and I have received many compliments. I will be taking a soil test soon. Our soil is not the best in the area and I plan on continually to treat with BioChar. Hopefully over the seasons, the soil will improve.

Yep I have now realised I could wing it without a soil test. But, so much of my seed come up thick and green. And then other spots are patchy in other areas.
Some areas in my backyard are really dark soil and some is dried up clay soil.
I Gotta stop and do a soil test, and rent a aerator. Time for me to find some of this humichar too. And do it right.
    Thx Doc! Always helpful.

You've convinced me to do a soil test. Doing this stuff during the winter makes a lot of sense. I'm guessing it will take a good amount of rain to work the lime or sulfur into the soil.

I have a question that I hope someone can answer. What is the difference between humichar and humic DG? Are they the same or does humic DG just have more humic acid. It's difficult to find what the difference is. Currently I'm using the humic DG. What additional benefits does humichar provide? As a reference I'm in PA and using this on tall fescue along with pgf complete. A lot of this lawn care stuff gets very confusing for first timers like myself. Thanks in advance.

The Barricade/prodiamine is working for me in Texas. I put it down at the heavy rate (7.2 lbs per 1,000 sq. ft.). I split it up into two treatments and I put them down with a few weeks of time in between. I missed a couple spots at the edge of my lawn, but I just pull the weed and sprinkle some more prodiamine on top of the spot by hand. Good luck

    • @connorbnjgg67754
      @connorbnjgg67754 4 роки тому

Low rate is 1 lbs. / 1,000 sq. ft. Medium rate is 2 lbs. / 1,000 sq. ft. High rate is 4 lbs. / 1,000 sq. ft. I do the high rate once per month, you really can't overdo it with Humichar. It's a long term investment that will help reduce the need for fertilizer and irrigation.

Hi Doc, I live in southern Ontario Canada. I bought Scott's fertilizer for fall. When I opened the bag it's no longer granular but flecks they just run out of the spreader. I don't know what to do. My lawn this year has so much crab grass, creeping charlie weeds, and other stuff. and clover too. I spray or get on my hand and knees to put. My neighbours have given up doing anything with their lawn but I refuse. 3 days after putting the fertilizer down on my lawn we got a rain storm I figured it would go in the grass...it flowed out with the water. Nothing went in the grass and in some areas it never desolved. It's cramp. I want a green lawn, thick, no weeds or crab grass. Can you please help me. Before my grass looks like everyones on the street.

Ok so does this mean the company level lawns that leveled out my lawn early this summer was a bad idea? being that they use 100% sand and not a 50/50 to level out my turf? Will this make my existing soil worse to hold in nutrients from turning it from clay base to a sandy soil? 6:42
