Most badass music in a SW game. Don't know why, but some tracks genuinely made me nervous playing. You feel really immersed in larger battles when things open up.
This brings back a lot of childhood nostalgia for me. This mission and Rogue Squadron was my first experience playing a Star Wars video game! Love this series!!!
I saw on Discord that you were playing Republic Commando and hoped for that. Oh well, I never played these starfighter games so I'm gonna learn something new!
So glad you picked Rogue Squadron as your next lore play game! I spent countless hours playing this as a kid. I would love to see you use some of the cheat codes and go into detail on all the vehicles in the hanger.
This game was my introduction to Star Wars. I got it for Christmas after I had played and loved Star Fox 64 and I think Aerofighters Assault, but that might have come later. This is also why I am a big fan of the space combat scenes in Star Wars and other such series.
I loved the Rogue Squadron games. I wish they had remaster versions of these. I remember my Game Cube couldn’t handle 2 player rampage mode when me and player 2 went crazy with the sonic charges
I remember playing this game when it was recently released. I was too young to have enough money to actually buy games, so I actually borrowed it from the public library. The nostalgia is indeed real :) I bought in on Steam last year. If you play this version I suggest you 1) Use the first-person view for most accurate aiming, 2) Turn off the cockpit overlay in the options (it's insanely bulky and takes up half the screen) and 3) Use keyboard-only controls 'cuz the mouse is a bit unwieldy :)
YEEESSSSSSSSS ALEX. YOUR THA MAN!!. By the force, I remember grinding away hours at a time back in the day on my N64 to get all gold medals on every mission to unlock the secret missions and be able to use every ship on every level. Oh the nostalgia, it lives. Oh BTW if you wanna use the falcon the cheat code I think is farmboy. The tie interceptor is tiedup. Naboo starfighter is HALIFAX?(yes the ? Is part of the code) than right after that type in !YNGWIE! There's loads of other cool and helpful codes that I'm sure should still work with steam.
Ahh the memories. So many fond memories of this game. Looking forward to seeing you go through the rest of the game. By any chance will you cover the bonus levels at the end of the game too?
I enjoyed the "shadows of the Empire" Lore play N64 game .. this is another good game to add to the Lore play series.. love the rogue squadron series and Its gonna be intresting to see your take on this Game/lore.. i want to learn more about the backstory now ..because as a kid i didnt appreciate the canon as much than i Do now.. Starwars explained is the best place to go for ALL knowledge STARWARS
It may have been a short one, but I always wondered what reason the Empire would have to bomb Mos Eisley... and now I know! So thanks. I always figured it was out of spite.
This will be interesting to watch considering it took me a year to beat this game. I'm curious to see Kasan Moore (Sorry for butchering her name) explained.
I could only get to Level 7 without cheating, although I might be able to do better now. I especially hated the Sullust level, as the only way I could ever figure out to get past that one even with the cheats was to keep firing off the V-Wing's cluster homing missiles while nearly constantly dying.
Fest tended to make me pull out my hair. I could never bring down the AT-ATs quickly enough, then there was tank droids, and I soon ended up with only one rebel walker left. That was before bombers came in...
I remember playing this game as a kid. I had to use the IGIVEUP infinite lives code to beat the levels towards the end of the game. The Fest level was the worst.
So excited for a new Lore Play! Never played this one either. Rogue Squadron II was a Gamecube exclusive, right? I did play a little of that on a friend's Gamecube.
Thanks for playing this!! I remember playing it in my schooltime but I never managed to get past the Corellia-Mission, I recently got it on steam but it kinda keeps crashing so I still haven't finished it ^^;
Kept curious to see if any medal was awarded 😆 Curiously, 1 of the 3 unlockable missions is a race in Beggar’s Canyon against 3 diferent difficulty levels: Zev, Dak and Wedge.
Flight based 👍 Will you ever play X-Wing, Tie Fighter, X-Wing vs Tie Fighter, or X-Wimg Alliance. I know even one of those is a huge undertaking, but those games are in a league of their own!
God I was looking for my Gamecube a couple weeks and found it with all its games but when I opened the case for rogue squadron 3 it wasn't there and I'm honestly so sad, I need a new copy
Dont know how much you read comments, but how do you play the game on PC, the controls with keyboard and mouse were really janky for me and my xbox controller was recognized by the game, but the buttons are all mixed around and i cant rebind them... Would be great if you could mention which controls you use :)
That's the problem with most star wars games, they are not that accurate and often bring more inconsistencies to it's universe. If they wanna do it at least do it right and with heart. Anyway some star wars games are just for fun as they should and do not necessarily need to fit in canon or legends. I love Rogue Squadron series, especially Rogue Squadron II. Good video =)
Well, they have to balance consistent writing with good and balanced gameplay. I mean, real X-Wings start off with Homing Proton Torpedoes rather than having to capture the upgrade technology somewhere, right? Plus, any level based on destroying the first Death Star has to have the trench run souped up like they do in this game and the sequel in order to be entertaining and challenging enough.
Of course Compucles and that's what I've said in my comment, most games are just for fun as they should, what i don't like is when they want to fit them in lore. Or if they do, then they should make it fit right without causing inconsistencies overall. Example: Force Unleashed is a good example. In the game we are told that Starkiller had a pivotal role in creating the Alliance. To my knowledge, all stories before that game pointed out that the founders of the Alliance are Bail Organa, Mon Mothma and Garm Bel Iblis.
And they were in the game, only with two of them having their involvement exposed early to the Empire. I still gather they had intended to form a resistance anyway, it was just delayed or something. Still, I don't feel too attached to that game...
Chris sonoPear they were all exposed yes but, in ANH, both canon and legends Bail Organa is never mentioned or confirmed a traitor much less the entire Alderanian people. I think you got the point of what i'm trying to say in general. IMO if a game is supposed to be in the timeline that's fine as long as it doesn't contradicts the overall story, otherwise, don't fit it anywhere, it is just a star wars game with a story separate story.
Yay, I love this game! By the way, have you ever done treasonous actions either by accident or on purpose and then failed the mission (without using up all your lives)? General Rieekan will call you in for a private meeting to discuss your "tactics."
Maybe some rebel cells had started? Luke ended up going back to Tatooine a LOT in Legends stories, at least for the first few months after Yavin. He met up with friend/rival Fixer, for instance, who first tried to sell him out, then later helped him.
Most badass music in a SW game. Don't know why, but some tracks genuinely made me nervous playing. You feel really immersed in larger battles when things open up.
The Wayfarer I had the same feeling!
Me too!! 😃
I LOVED this game, Still play it on occasion. It's a shame it never got a HD re-release or even a a re-make.
The Steam version looks nice and crisp. It may not be an HD remake per se, but it looks pretty sharp.
It is getting a fan HD remake.
ottoandnibbles where'd you hear that?
ua-cam.com/video/pVtbbB7iEFU/v-deo.html
It was gonna be re released on the wii along the other two but never happened
this brings back memories.
i played this on the Nintendo 64, when i was young.
looking forward to this playthrough.
So happy that Lore Play is back and that you picked this game to return with.
Rogue Squadron is my favorite series of Star Wars games. Man, I miss Factor 5...
This was one of my all time favorite games!
This brings back a lot of childhood nostalgia for me. This mission and Rogue Squadron was my first experience playing a Star Wars video game! Love this series!!!
Glad to see Lore Plays return, especially with this game (and hopefully the whole series)!
And how to beat Fest - using chase view for tow cable perhaps?
Oh my gosh, I just streamed the whole game last month XD Glad to see it's being done for the Lore Play!
I saw on Discord that you were playing Republic Commando and hoped for that. Oh well, I never played these starfighter games so I'm gonna learn something new!
So happy to see you cover Rogue Squadron. Can't wait to see more out of this series.
So glad you picked Rogue Squadron as your next lore play game! I spent countless hours playing this as a kid. I would love to see you use some of the cheat codes and go into detail on all the vehicles in the hanger.
Rogue Squadron is my favourite Star Wars title of all time so seeing a Lore Play of it is just bliss. Keep up the amazing work SWE!
Alex !!!!!!! You're the man!!
just watched you lay the smackdown for the belt!!!!!!!!! Congrats
So glad you play this. It was one of my first Star Wars games back on the N64, great game!
Woohoo! Rogue Squadron lore play!
My favorite Star Wars game and series of games. They seriously need to bring this series back.
This game was my childhood. Thank you so much for starting this! Can’t wait to see the game again :)
This game was my introduction to Star Wars. I got it for Christmas after I had played and loved Star Fox 64 and I think Aerofighters Assault, but that might have come later. This is also why I am a big fan of the space combat scenes in Star Wars and other such series.
Yes, finally the lore play i wanted to see. This was one of the first games I played and i still play it
This game is awesome and I like the lore in this game. Great video
Man one of my all time favourite games... so many great memories!
I love the roots this game set down for both its own sequels and Battle for Naboo. It just works.
Nice to see the Lore Play again.
YESSSSSS!!!!!!! THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE STAR WARS GAMES!!!!!!
I loved the Rogue Squadron games. I wish they had remaster versions of these. I remember my Game Cube couldn’t handle 2 player rampage mode when me and player 2 went crazy with the sonic charges
Finally. I hope you can do the other 2 rogue squadron games too.
Yay! Lore play is back
I was able to breeze through the Super Star Wars games back in the day, but this was the first Star Wars game I officially mastered. I really miss it.
Alex you should lore play the old Star Wars clone wars game!! It’s amazing. Story telling! May the force be with you!
This is one of my all time favorite games!
I have been waiting for this
This game was one of my favorites as a kid!
I just replayed this game yet again a few weeks ago!
Yay, new lore play!
Oh the memories. Think I'll go grab it on STEAM to play along at home.
I remember playing this game when it was recently released. I was too young to have enough money to actually buy games, so I actually borrowed it from the public library. The nostalgia is indeed real :)

The N1 is automatically unlocked from the beginning in the PC version.
FARMBOY
Ooohhhh. Imma watch this all the way through
Yesss, Rogue Squadron!
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron on N64 was ahead of its time. I played this game more then Star Fox 64
Ahh the memories. So many fond memories of this game. Looking forward to seeing you go through the rest of the game. By any chance will you cover the bonus levels at the end of the game too?
Happy 20th Anniversary Star Wars Rogue Squadron!
Do you think now that Viper combat droids were introduced in Solo that game developers will stop using Probe Droids as enemies?
It may have been a short one, but I always wondered what reason the Empire would have to bomb Mos Eisley... and now I know! So thanks. I always figured it was out of spite.
Good video. Love ur vids
YEEES!!!! my favorite star wars game ever!
Oh the memories! ❤️

Compucles - That volcano mission made me rage quit
Fest tended to make me pull out my hair. I could never bring down the AT-ATs quickly enough, then there was tank droids, and I soon ended up with only one rebel walker left. That was before bombers came in...
Chris sonofPear - For the longest time I never knew how to use the tow cable lol
IT’S A TRAP
Admiral Ackbar I'm sorry Rian Johnson killed you off.
One of my first Star Wars games. 😀
What about the TIE attack on Mos Eisley?
8 bit intro ftw
I JUST finished this game for the first time yesterday
I love this channel 😍
wife is gonna love this! she loved Rogue Squadron
I remember playing this game as a kid. I had to use the IGIVEUP infinite lives code to beat the levels towards the end of the game. The Fest level was the worst.
NOSTALGIA my lord it's been an eternity since I've played any of the SW Rogue Squadron gamesI can't wait for the rest of the the series.
I loved that game!
"also dewbacks explode, who knew?" see im learning new things every day
I loved Rogue Squadron 2! I wish we could get a new Rogue Squadron game :(
So excited for a new Lore Play! Never played this one either. Rogue Squadron II was a Gamecube exclusive, right? I did play a little of that on a friend's Gamecube.
This entire game series should be remastered for the modern consoles.
Thanks for playing this!! I remember playing it in my schooltime but I never managed to get past the Corellia-Mission, I recently got it on steam but it kinda keeps crashing so I still haven't finished it ^^;
Miss this game
omg a Rogue Squadron Lore Play. I love you. I really need a Pilot Book in canon. pls ;_;
After you finish Rouge Squadron, try doing either Jedi Knight 2 Dark Forces or Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy.
No Jedi Outcast?
Congrats on the Schmoedown!
Best Star Wars Game =3
I hope another one (or remake, at least) for the Switch someday
Kept curious to see if any medal was awarded 😆
Curiously, 1 of the 3 unlockable missions is a race in Beggar’s Canyon against 3 diferent difficulty levels: Zev, Dak and Wedge.
I played the hell out of this game as a kid
i grew up with this and Shadows of the empire on n64
You will make Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy Lore play?
Nostalgia trip lol
woo lore play
Its been years I played that game
This was a great game
Looks fun, is it possible to blow up the Sandcrawler? Or is it just some indestructible background object?
Are you planning on playing X-Wing Alliances? That would be a fairly long series, with somewhat ok Lore too.
YES...my very first video game!
My dream is to see you lore play through one of the Star Wars Galaxies emulators.
The poor dewback.
Flight based 👍
Will you ever play X-Wing, Tie Fighter, X-Wing vs Tie Fighter, or X-Wimg Alliance. I know even one of those is a huge undertaking, but those games are in a league of their own!
My childhood!
Darklighter is a sweet last name
You should do Star Wars Dark Forces 2 Jedi Knight after this lore play
God I was looking for my Gamecube a couple weeks and found it with all its games but when I opened the case for rogue squadron 3 it wasn't there and I'm honestly so sad, I need a new copy
So apropos - I just picked this up for N64 a couple weeks ago.
YES! YES! BY THE FORCE YES!!!! BEST STAR WARS GAME ON 64!! BEST STAR WARS GAME ON 64!!
Dont know how much you read comments, but how do you play the game on PC, the controls with keyboard and mouse were really janky for me and my xbox controller was recognized by the game, but the buttons are all mixed around and i cant rebind them... I always had trouble with that scene. Broad strokes at best, in terms of fitting.
It's my favorite of the bunch :b
I have all Gold Medals on Every Map
Also there's another Begars Canyon map :)
Yay, I love this game!
By the way, have you ever done treasonous actions either by accident or on purpose and then failed the mission (without using up all your lives)? General Rieekan will call you in for a private meeting to discuss your "tactics."
Nah man, this is totally geographically accurate. You're just flying at such supersonic speeds that you're seeing everything at once.
Will you do X-wing series later?
HYPE
The UA-cam channel Thanaclara is making an HD remake of this game with Unreal Engine 4. I'd advise y'all check it out, it looks amazing!
but why did they bomb mos eisley?
dai to get Luke out of hiding
Maybe some rebel cells had started?
Luke ended up going back to Tatooine a LOT in Legends stories, at least for the first few months after Yavin. He met up with friend/rival Fixer, for instance, who first tried to sell him out, then later helped him.
Chris sonofPear oh ok
It's just kind of funny that so many authors took Luke back there. Last was this Brian Wood guy in a comic series a few years back...
