The reason I watch others react to this song is exactly what you said: "I'm sad because now I can't hear it for the first time." Yea. She is everything in this performance. She kills it. But that's the genius of Scott Bradlee's arrangement - you can tell it was written for her talents specifically - it drops away to give her the space to be soft, anticipates her when she builds up some power, and then supports her when she really lets loose. Everything about this is amazing.
Well I know you've reacted to her before but dam, welcome to Haley's world. But before I go, please raise a glass to Scott Bradlee for being able to take these contemporary songs and retro arrange them into such wonderful pieces (and to the outstanding musicians he assembles to play them).
The first time I heard her voice, she sang "House of the Rising Sun" on American Idol. I was hooked from that point. But this song? It still brings me to tears.
Don't be sad not being able listen to it the first time again. I've been repeatedly listen to that version and still blown away with shivers each time!
PMJ was in the middle of their Euro tour and had a 2-3 day break. They traveled to Switzerland, recorded this in one take, while Haley was fighting off a cold. It is a masterpiece.
One more item of the day PMJ recorded " Creep" in Switzerland, Scott Bradlee looked up in the sky after the recording and saw a comet. He called it "Haley's Comet". It is in his book he wrote about Post Modern Jukebox startup.
She was not fighting off a cold. Not sure how that got started. Based on Scott Bradley, Haley was worried her voice would be tired from touring and they had just recorded Seven Nation Army and All About that Bass that same day. He convinced her they could get it in one take. And they did. But contrary to rumor she was not sick or getting sick. She was simply worried about her voice since she had been singing so much.
Why do you ppl feel the need to race to repeat other ppls comments. Without fail on virtually every great performance of an artist come sprinting the white knight to make excuses for something that doesn't need an excuse. I go to work all the time feeling like shit, will you call my boss for me? For f*co sake ! It gotten old
I predict the most used word in this comment section is going to be "Finally!" ;) We have all been waiting for you to hear this one! This is master level stuff. This is something that belongs in the archives of the best musical performances of all time IMO. And (as I'm sure many others will tell you) Haley was sick that day, and did this in one take! Don't be sad that you can never hear it again for the first time. Be happy that you have now discovered this gem and can listen to it all you want without having to wait for a request ;)
Maunalee : 'I'm now sad because I cant hear that for the first time again.' Me : Well, there is never going to be a last time to hear this, so put on your shades, cause the future is bright.
The only video to ever give me goosebumps multiple times from head to toe. Spectacular performance! Perfect arrangement, awesome band, then combine that with Haley's incredible voice and what you get is one of the best covers on UA-cam period. I'm glad you finally had the chance to experience this.
If you like Haley Reinhart and nostalgic songs, you will probably like the PMJ video of her and Puddles the clown (the clown with the golden voice) doing Mad World. It's one of my favorites. It's cute and also very good. The mixture of their two voices in the duet is magical. Plus, it will make you smile.
That's how I was first introduced to Haley. I really enjoy Puddles and was bingeing some of his music when I encountered that song and immediately started listening to Haley and PMJ
I still cry at the unequivocally and arguably best rendition and female vocal of this song. Haleys voice is sent from the heavens. She sure knows how to please a crowd ❤
I've listened to this song & every reaction to this song at least 100 times (maybe more?) FANTASTIC!!!!!!!! Haley is one of a kind & the best singer I've heard in years. Have NO idea WHY she's not #1 on the charts all the time????? Fell in love with her on American Idol & am stumped why she came in 3rd?????????
I have listened to this perfect reaction a dozen times. One, to listen to the song. Two, to watch your reaction. The moment you fell in love with her singing was worth every minute of my time. It is my "go to" feel good reaction. Wow.
Haley has perfected that little sex kitten persona, so I love watching guys react to this performance. And you can't deny that her vocals are killer. She has such great power and range, and that, along with the little breaks/cracks in her voice and those growls and rasp! That makes this performance just sheer perfection!
Finally a reactor that listens to the song. You realize the songs are the stars and not the reactors. Bravo young lady, you just got yourself a new subscriber.
Ok, you say you really like Haley Reinhart and you like 40's and 50's. If that's the case, you should really love this - Jeff Goldblum & The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra feat. Haley Reinhart - My Baby Just Cares For Me. It should tick all the boxes.
I like her improve with Irvin Mayfield, doing "God Bless the Child" better. It was Irvin's introduction to Haley . He, his band and the crowd were blown away.
So happy to see you finally did that one. Few performances can make me smile and cry at the same time (because I'm awestruck), and it looked like you were about to do the same. Take it from someone who's listened to it a thousand times - you will hear it for the first time again...and again, and again. There's just sooo much going on there. Cheers.
the sentence "I am sad, because I can not listen to it for the first time again" got you my subscribe :) ... and I am totally going to steal it! (maybe that is why reaction videos are so popular, because they actually allow you to listen to it again for the first time through someone else's ears...)
Haley is spectacular, but it is all there because of the brilliance of Scott Bradlee. His arrangement and recognition of incredible talent is amazing. I feel sorry for those who might not get to know hos work, as he won't sell out to a big music label.
Not sure how Yahoo brought me back here but I am glad it did. I saw this when you did it 4 yrs ago and it's just as fun to watch again. On a side note I finally got a chance to see Haley do this song live here in Atlanta. She was of course amazing. She sounded almost exactly like she does here. No autotune used for this video. That is her voice 100%. She is amazing.
I have known about this song for a while. I just got into watching reaction videos the last few months. I love watching people listening to this song for the first time. Your is by far the best reaction I have seen. You listened all the way through. Being a woman, you got in to your heart and soul. Trust me, you will not tire of listening to her over and over. I get chills and teary eyes each and every time.
I’m glad you reacted to this and discovered Hailey Reinhart. Her voice is possibly my favorite right now, and she has a ton of great songs of her own, but when she does classic versions of a song like this, she blows the roof off the place. I knew before listening to the reaction that you would love it and it would surpass your scale of greatness. Definitely heck out her other stuff, which is all great, even if it can’t top this.
Maunalee - Thank God! I finally found someone who loves it as much as I do! But guess what? If you are like me.... well.... I have watched it about 50 times in the past couple of months and it still gives me goosebumps, elevates my heart rate, and leaves me with a gasp at the end and I felt like I was with you on the ride with each of your facial expressions. It is a vocal masterpiece.
I feel in LOVE with this cover and you! Love the way you FELT it! I had the SAME reaction! 😎 SUBBED!🤗 Oh, and the Frampton poster reminded me of the 1st album I won from the radio station (with a house phone 🤣🤣🤦♀️) Thanks for the memory! 😎⚘
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Maunalee! This is my favorite song and have waited for you to react to it. I am glad to see it did not disappoint!!! I have always loved Haley's voice, but have even a greater appreciation after hearing that performance.
Haley has really transformed. The best way I can express it is that I've been a working musician for a long time. Back years ago I was in a twelve piece band with horn section etc. I remember auditioning female vocalists. Most sounded like they were trying to sound like singers as opposed to being one. I didn't know where Haley came from. It turns out she was on American Idol. I looked at a couple of her performances and wasn't impressed. I got that same vibe of her imitating singers. But with PMJ she has found her voice and it's incredible. So is her performance attitude. Sometimes just being around the kind of talent that makes up PMJ can force you to step up your game.
Post Modern Jukebox is a large music production Company. They have multiple groups on tour. September 22 they are playing Cambridge United Kingdom and Sioux Falls, SD. I saw one of their groups in PA last year.
I love your reaction video for this song. At 2:29 and more intensely at 2:37, I had the exact face-scrunching as you and realized that the song had reached me emotionally, and had tears and goosebumps for the rest of the song.
Every time I hear her voice I think of smokes, absinthe and New Orleans. Her voice takes you on one of those journeys that means long nights and half recalled memories and a tattoo you didn't have when you started.
At the 5:30 point where the bassist looks over to the booth and nods as she does her little high note run... this arrangement and performance is absolute fire. And was done in one take
This song only gets better each time i listen to it... and i discovered this beautiful cover years ago and heard it countless times.. goosebumps are still very common for me to get when i hear Haley sing this (and other songs). Her voice is.. for a lack of better wording, magical, she's the complete package of voice, sultry, looks, moves, performance, presence, storytelling and captivation for me, she is simply unique. And to think that there are 3 major factors at play here, first.. this was after a long night performing, when they came back to the mansion Scott felt there was time for one more recording. Second would be, as mentioned, after a long day performing Haley was dead tired, and hear say tells she also wasnt physically feeling well. And finally, they did this in 1 or 2 takes, debate on that is still ongoing if its only once or twice that they did it and called it a job (well) done. Regardless if its one take, or the second take.. she slayed it while being under the weather and tired as can be from a long night on stage... she still has this when not being at 100% capacity, she is amazing. I am new to your channel but have recently been on a binge of Haley Reinhart reacts so your videos started to show up in my recommended, and ty UA-cam for having an algorithm that actually works, so i could find this (for me) new channel to sub to. Ty for the lovely react Maunalee (love that name btw, never heard it before but it fits you perfectly)
Freakin’ WOW! Maunalee where in the hell did she pull that from... I mean WTF! Haley just moved to a whole new level; not just awesome but it was even sprinkled with some sultry sauce and a touch of nasty (the good kind) you know what I mean. Just WOW!!!!!
I have been waiting for you got get around to the most amazing and original version of Creep EVER. I love the original version and I love the version that Pau from The Warning just released, but Haley takes is to another level in another dimension. I knew that you would love it.
Thank you for not interrupting the music multiple times to comment on it in a pedantic fashion. This sets you apart from most reaction videos in a satisfying way. Cheers!
I’ve watched it countless times and still have the same tears of joy, visceral reaction about when she does the mind blowing run that ends in the scat. She pours everything into it.
I think that in addition to your reaction, very good indeed, your beautiful eyes, along with your smile, is the most captivating. you are a charm in my eyes. Greetings from Argentina.!!
This version charted on Billboard's digital Jazz charts for over 50 weeks. You have stated in the past that you auditioned for America Idol, what year was it? Haley was on the live shows summer of 2011. so I don't know if those initial auditions would have been fall 2010 or winter/spring 2011. She ended up in third after starting off as one of the lower ranked vote getters. She had no chance really, as the eventual winner was a teen boy country singer with a deep voice that got the tween girl and granny vote. Many women/girls were turned off by Haley's sultryness, some commented she was not appropriate for a family show LOL, she was very tame compared to many today. Haley toured with PMJ for awhile back in 2015 and 2016. Her version of I Can't Help Falling in Love with You was used in a gum add and went viral, probably her single biggest money maker to date.
Thanks for the great information on Haley's American Idol experience. As for American Idol, don't trust the voting process for the winners; there's a lot of manipulation there. Pentatonix lead singer Scott Hoying auditioned for AI three times and was rejected all three times. Their goal is ratings, not necessarily talent. Now that he's famous, they'd take him in a New York second because he would attract many viewers.
I saw that season and rooted for Haley. She obviously wasn't going to win but I love how she kept surviving each week even though she was constantly in the bottom. Nobody expected her to finish 3rd but she did it with her sheer talent. Love her.
Scott Bradlee (at the piano does all the arrangements) also works with the singers such as Haley Reinhart here and Morgan James from Postmodern Jukebox, both sing in a great rendition of "All About the Bass". Then look up Morgan James by herself.
You have to appreciate the boss level talent the musicians, Scott for the incredible vintage arrangement, and Haley for owning this song so much they have the deed to it. One take to record this. When Haley was sick. This is sheer greatness. This group is one of those I would do almost anything to go to their concert live if they were anywhere near me. I have exactly 3 groups I would do that and pmj is one. Pentatonix and Homefree are the other 2.
LOL. I L-O-V-E hearing, watching, seeing anything I've loved for years and years, only to realize that I've never understood it, heard it, absorbed it before until a new light, a new angle, a new voice reveals what's been hiding in plain sight for however long. That's what her rendition of this masterpiece does to me, again and again. I never felt the delicious yearning and surrender of the lyrics until I heard this, the realization that sometimes you're just never going to get something you've dreamt of your whole life, assumed would one day come, until that bubble pops and your hopes and desires vanish, forever, and it's OK. If not you, someone you love (or perhaps will never know) will have it for you. And your heart explodes. BOOM! Gone. So THIS is Nirvana! Astonishing. To how many things in life does that word TRULY apply? 💥💖🔥
Her hip and hand movements, touching her hair, and the little head flip all add to the picture she's painting. Also, every chorus is different the way she sings it
yup...Haley is one that gives me hope for the current generation of music... and though always good, on this performance she was a beast of a whole different level. a Gift to us all was this performance no more need be said IMO
We told you you would absolutely die and love it! My favorite! You have to check out more of her but creep is definitely my all time favorite! Black hole sun is beautiful, 7 nation army all with pmj but even her stuff on her own! She is so talented! 10 out of 10 for sure! Thanks for finally reacting to her! Cheers!
Haley's PMJ Creep is my Favorite Video on youtube. I listen to it at least once a day. and she did Don't Speak with PMJ perfectly, which should be your next video. This video is the reason I started listening to Reactions on youtube because of it. Had no idea what Reaction videos were until this video.
Overall I like Creep better, but the last 2 minutes of Black Hole Sun are my favorite 2 minutes on youtube because of her singing, and also how much she seems to be enjoying it.
Easily my top reactors' video on UA-cam, and one of my favorite performances of all time, so I know I'll be watching this reaction of yours many times over the years! The gob-smacked expression of awe and amazement on your face, plus the delight when Haley's scat skills kicked in, were pretty much exactly what I was hoping for you! Hope your weekend's as great as this reaction!
She blows my mind everytime I hear her, every since I watched her first auditions on tv years ago. Such a unique talent. Can see why she was cut early from whichever talent show she was in... 😒Cuz she's not mainstream- she's a whole lot better!
When I hear this, as a musician I tend to get overwhelmed. The control of her instrument along with the arrangement are simply spectacular!
I cried the first 40x I heard it. LOL Still get goosebumps too.
You probably dont care but does any of you know of a method to log back into an instagram account?
I was dumb forgot the account password. I would love any assistance you can offer me
@Reece Pedro Instablaster :)
I think the sweetest moment of this video is when you said the hostess with the most is said I think she has one of my favorite voices and then that little voice in the background said why I beg to differ 🤣🤣🤣 that was your little one in the background
I've heard this a zillion times now and it does not get old. It is a lot of fun to watch reactions and yours was great.
The reason I watch others react to this song is exactly what you said: "I'm sad because now I can't hear it for the first time."
Yea.
Actually it was originally recorded with a different singer. They just recorded Haley later on because she adapted and killed it on tour.
Well I know you've reacted to her before but dam, welcome to Haley's world. But before I go, please raise a glass to Scott Bradlee for being able to take these contemporary songs and retro arrange them into such wonderful pieces (and to the outstanding musicians he assembles to play them).
The arrangement is just genius. Scott does it again. The musicians are perfect, and of course Haley, just wow!
The first time I heard her voice, she sang "House of the Rising Sun" on American Idol. I was hooked from that point. But this song? It still brings me to tears.
The first time I heard this I was absolutely blown away and in tears.
Same
Don't be sad not being able listen to it the first time again. I've been repeatedly listen to that version and still blown away with shivers each time!

yup, also don't forget, this is the first take of the song they did that day.
Exactly! Finally took ya long enough!
I agree and another performance in this ‘category’ in my opinion is > Lara Fabian ‘Je Suis Malade’ live from ‘Lara with Love’ concert
Just putting this out there for the universe to consider: a PMJ collaboration with Angelina Jordan.
@@odball75 PMJ does them ALL in one take . . . that's just what they do.
Yes... I know it was 4 years ago but I had to react to your reaction!...
Beauty actually exists, doesn’t it?!....
Thanks for the reaction.
'Without a Doubt' 8-ball knows!! Thank heaven this was captured for the ages to savor and share.
I knew this girl was special after seeing her performance of I Who Have Nothing on American Idol and the fact that she did not win confirmed it.
Maunalee : 'I'm now sad because I cant hear that for the first time again.'
Me : Well, there is never going to be a last time to hear this, so put on your shades, cause the future is bright.

That's a great version by Haley, showing such huge mastery of such different genres.
@ Glenn: I had not seen that video. It's very good! Nice to her having so much fun.
Wonderful. Watched it many times
I am probably one million of her 80 millions views. She's fantastic.
I have another million!
And I have another million . . . . does that mean less than 100 people have watched this video? 😉
same! lol
So happy to see you finally did that one. Few performances can make me smile and cry at the same time (because I'm awestruck), and it looked like you were about to do the same. Watching your reactions to this song was so worth the watch. Your face summed this performance up wonderfully.
Your heart broke at the scat, didn't it? Your reaction is mesmeric, and Haley's performance is of another world. She is a gift to us all.
Haley is spectacular, but it is all there because of the brilliance of Scott Bradlee. His arrangement and recognition of incredible talent is amazing. I feel sorry for those who might not get to know hos work, as he won't sell out to a big music label.
"I wish I could hear this again for the first time" is something I've only said about two songs. This one and Disturbed's "Sound of Silence".
100% agree.
Haley, Morgan James, Ariana Savalas, PMJ European Tour Version “All about the Bass”

Blown away over and over and over all through the song. A++++++++++++++ 10!!!! Loved your reaction is also 10 😝
Mesmerizing voice...very good surrender of such a beautiful song.
Your facial expressions said it all, great reaction and thank you for not pausing

this version is beautiful and perfect
plus the sultriest sexiest warmest vocal of all time

I seen Haley on American Idol some years a go and her voice was great back then, but now she has surpassed that a 1000 fold...

One of the best voices ever! And, boy, can she sing Jazz!
I've been waiting for this one! Great react! And I agree 200%!
You are absolutely right, she is my favorite female singer now, take care of yourself and your lovely family
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Maunalee! This is my favorite song and have waited for you to react to it. I am glad to see it did not disappoint!!! I have always loved Haley's voice, but have even a greater appreciation after hearing that performance.

I like the bluesy voice -distinct and unique. I like some of the growls and cry’s. She pours her soul and emotion into the song. Really good dynamics
When I remember correctly this one was recorded after a concert in Europe while she was sick. I even heard it was a one take session.
Well, one camera one take but they did do a smidge of rehearsal before recording it.
Yes one take but also the first take.
Oh and Haley was a bit under the weather too... First take... Mic drop... 80 million views later!!!!!

This was probably the best reaction I've seen to this song. Thank you!
I have been waiting for you got get around to the most amazing and original version of Creep EVER. I love the original version and I love the version that Pau from The Warning just released, but Haley takes is to another level in another dimension. I knew that you would love it.
Haley takes everything she does to another dimension... What I find curious that she's not an international superstar...
Loved watching the expression on your face! Great reaction! Going to check out more of your reviews!
Haley is so very special in this!
Sometimes... rarely... god blesses us with perfection. A genius creation never to be repeated. That what we just watched.
I think that in addition to your reaction, very good indeed, your beautiful eyes, along with your smile, is the most captivating. you are a charm in my eyes.
Greetings from Argentina.!!
YES, LOVE LOVE LOVE
I just noticed that Charlotte gets the same look on her face that you do, when the music touches your soul. Amazing.
That season, the whole top 10 were killers.
Love her.
Everything and I mean every single song that postmodern jukebox does is fantastic.
Just special person and a special singer to be able to express herself like that
Momma, momma, momma ,momma. Special . I was smiling she was demanding momma. Ha. Loved her voice also.
Never saw your channel very genuine reaction. And better than 99 % look forward to seeing more
Her hip and hand movements, touching her hair, and the little head flip all add to the picture she's painting.
Cheers!
"I am just sad, because I can't hear it for the first time again" EXACTLY how I felt.
She's amazing. Thanks!
PLEASE PLEASE PMJ Haley singing " Black Hole Sun" another beyond 10!!!
Overall I like Creep better, but the last 2 minutes of Black Hole Sun are my favorite 2 minutes on youtube because of her singing, and also how much she seems to be enjoying it.
7 Nation Army too! My fave between that and Creep depends on which one I'm listening to at that moment.
Haley is so incredibly talented. She's got it going on for sure and has that jazzy, funk going on.
I know this is forever long ago, but what a GREAT reaction!!
She blows my mind everytime I hear her, every since I watched her first auditions on tv years ago. Such a unique talent. Can see why she was cut early from whichever talent show she was in... 😒Cuz she's not mainstream- she's a whole lot better!
I adore you! What a great reaction👑🙌🏾❤️
Haley's voice is out of this world.
I really think you’ll enjoy her original Honey Theres the Door! Vintage outfit Vintage Sound Vintage vibe and treatment
We've been waiting! Loved your reaction to the best song ever! Can't wait for their next tour stop in CO!!!
