here in Philippines we're happy when our neighbor's mango tree is flowering because sooner they gave us baskets of mango fruits after they harvested... 🥭🥭🥭😋😋😋
i know this is an older video, but at 14:55 you can see the neighbor who wanted the tree trimmed walking around with her hands over her ears in complaint over the chainsaws being used to do the trimming she wanted. gotta love it haha
🤣🤣🤣
Showing the before and after shots definitely emphasizes the improvements made!
Awesome job! Hope you got to enjoy Hawaii!
Hi, So lovely to see Honolulu, Hawaii again. I've visited three times, but quite a while ago. Hopefully I'll be able to come back some day and staying in the sun, while the winter is everything Hawaii isn't. Cold, dark and snowy. Yours, Ann
Love your videos! I died at the certified arborist part & the to be completely honest idk what tree it is! Lmao 🤣 keep them coming brother & be safe! If you get a chance come down here to South Carolina to the beach and see how we do the pines! 🤯I hate pines tbh! But we sure do have a lot of them and some big oaks & gums! 🌲📸🤦♂️
Hey man I'm in the Florence area, pretty cool to see local guys around with the same interest.
@@thomasyoung8234 definitely bro send me you info spme how Instagram or whatever and you could come out for a rec climb with the buddies. We do one every other week for practice!
Nice. A bonsai mango ! Or commonly known as the Wango de Mango. Love the humour and comradely. 🤙
I love Mango Juice with Good Irish Whiskey 😋
so this is the art of bonsai mango
Thank you for all the wonderful videos 🔥🐝👍
It is good to see your videos again Jake. I have been missing them. Hope to see more dude !
Gorgeous spot to work.
Cool ideas for the camera angles! Loved the “looking up” view as the crane moved into place! Keep up the good work 👌🏻
Mango trees remind me of the old video with a certain guy who had never experienced “non” dried mango before 🥭😂😂 back in the tube salad days!
Haha 😂
Yeah the good ol days
@@kevinwatson5076 here he is! 👌🏻😉😂
Island Boys 🤣. You should add Fake Arborist ID’s to your merch. Another great video Jake!
😂
Imagine going to work with your best friends and just telling stories and laughing, wow that’s the perfect job I say.
Mangoes in my part of the world Northern Australia don’t get much bigger than that, but they also present a few more challenges;
- Sap is caustic and can cause severe reactions to some people, also high levels of exposure can sometimes trigger a reaction in people who have never presented with sensitivity to it before (this can also effect there ability to be able to eat mangoes into the future)
- Where I’m from every mango tree is home to “Green Ants”, these are a large arboreal ant which weaves nets from the leaves, they aggressively defend the tree and there nests and react to any disturbance ...... which makes working in mangoes much more challenging experience.
- I thought this might have been a good opportunity to talk a little more about proper techniques for pruning fruit trees, cambium collar, promoting future fruit production, mangoes especially benefit greatly from thinking out canopy (higher quality fruit is produced when ripening fruit are exposed to sun and get a “blush” - better colour and sugar production), etc....
- I really thought you should have stopped at 29:00 mins
- Some of the issues with mangoes in my part of the world is if a tree gets that big it is difficult to manage, fruit are a favourite of a couple of things, fruit bats/flying foxes, possums, rats, cockatoos and lorikeets ..... fo if you don’t pick early most of your fruit will be damaged. Late picked and fallen fruit is not favoured cause it will not only have bruising but also likely have animal damage.
- Mangoes also attract fruit fly and if you don’t pick ripe fruit or clean up fallen fruit then you increase the chances of fruit fly infestation which also effects fruit quality. This also increases fruit fly populations and effect surrounding crops.
I totally understand you are not experienced in tropical tree work ...... just the same, there is a lot more than what I have mentioned here. Maybe you will get another chance in the future to cover some of the other issues.
Always love your work, hope you share many more amazing opportunities and experiences, cheers
blimey it's not just bugs, even the trees want to kill you in australia
@@cliveramsbotty6077 The additional risks are real …. But I wouldn’t say life threatening. For the rabid biting ants you just need to take a tea spoon of cement in the morning and harden the F up. I find like with a lot of things the more you struggle against it the worse it gets ….. (the more you attack the ants the more they attack you).
Mangoes belong to a group of plants Sapindales which include many plants that people have toxic reactions to I.e the cashew is a member of this group the fleshy coating around raw cashew nut can produce a more severe reaction …. Just helps to know some of these risks before you plunge head first into it, I would hate to develop a sensitivity to mango sap that would prevent me from enjoying mangoes.
Despite what people think Australia isn’t really all that dangerous
What an excellent video, the way you guys work to perfection to achieve excellent results no wonder that you’re in the top 10 of tree surgeons in your county.
Great job 👍
I love the banter between all of you, it makes your videos fun to watch! Great job everyone!
Beautiful wood
excellent work. With a team like this, it's nice to work. keep it up!
Great video!❤
You are really lucky to go to theses places Enjoy
Beautiful scenery!
there was a recall on some serial numbers for the rope runner having safety issues with the spring. you have to send it in to have it taken care of. be safe and thanks for all your vids.
Awesome episode. Happy to be part of the Patreon group. And look forward to the next one
That's a pretty thick chipper 😮 SHE THYICK !!BOI!!😅😂😂
Jake, it says in the manual for the rope runner that around once a year you need to oil the pivot point on the bird.
Could not wait for another video Jake and I ordered a coat that you wore when you were with Ham's tree care it didn't come yet so I called them and they said they designed a new style and I'm getting that one instead I'm excited I guess your signature is on it so is Kevin's can't wait till it comes
“I dunno, it grabs sometimes…”
“I like those odds!”
😂😂 Glad you guys enjoy yourselves. Dangerous work needs to be offset by humor; I know you all take it very seriously, but you just have to laugh to keep doing it. Always great videos, Jacob! Thanks for bringing us along.
love these vids so relaxing, could watch them all day.
Love the video! You guys are hilarious!!!
Great. Enjoyed this video while sipping my Red Stripe.
I specifically looked up this video because I was really curious how you would handle it.
I wish there was a mango tree without a crane. I will be dealing with that soon and it will be a DYI situation island stylee.
Bless
Loved bruddah!
Good to see your videos again Jake. Good job bro ! )
I wish I lived where too many mangoes dropped into my yard!
I know.. I'd love that..
You came to honolulu!!! Crazy!!!! i always watch your videos. Nice to see you out here, and yes you cant come to hawaii without cutting a mango tree.lol. Keep up the good work bruh
Trees aren't conscientious of property lines but people can be when they plant them
"You can't come to Hawaii without topping a mango" 👊🤣 welcome to the Hack job club Jacob🤙
@guiltyoftreason It's a fruit tree I wouldn't sweat it....you can always come to kauai and hack shower trees if you really want to lower your I.S.A standards 🤣🤣🤣
Awe Jake you made the tree bleed! That’s crazy! Be safe and have fun!
Awesome video
Wish my neighbor would agree to cut off the major branch over MY BACKYARD ! 50% less raking every fall. Nice Vid !
If it's not a palm... it's a mango!
The amount of trust needed with the boom operator.... Major. Have you ever been on a job where you or any other climber demanded a change in boom operator?
Looks like a fun job:)
"you always want to thin a tree after you top it, You wouldn't want to cut too little." Genius!! lol
Nice 😊
at least the guy next door didnt cut the roots lol
i love the hawaiin videos man!
Love the video.
We’ve been on the island boys kick at work!..lmao
It's funny that he mentioned the airline pilot part, as a couple years ago a south African man was arrested for flying commercially without a license for almost 2 decades.
More topping/pollarding please 🙂 greatings from eastetn Europe
amazing weather, a stunning view...nice job
Love the videos
If you get a chance I’d love to see you up in the northeast. ME and NH have some huge beautiful trees that are so different from the northwest where you’re normally working
Something I’ve discovered with knuckle boom picks is you can set them up like a GRCS lift vs a balanced pick. That way the crane can pull it up and away from you. When I try to balance it it seems to get sloppy. The knuckle booms don’t have scales on them so they don’t really know exactly what they have on it unless they can do percentage math in their head :)
Hi Jake!
I grew up in Africa. It's hard to watch someone chop a mango tree down to size. But I get it.
Basically a pro hack job 😂
Looks like you really miss your own saws with the Inbred Jed square-filed chains.
Though I have yet to do so in 15 years of climbing , I think it would be amazing to climb with a crane removal. I've had a few 80ft. bucket trucks drop me off as high as they could get me , and then top things out over 120ft. up ,
Hawaii man, what's not to love!?
Island boys 😂
I like that guy haha
Great videos brother…. You should keep up the great work also if you can make some more videos on different types of ties like your old videos.
I’ve never heard of that company when I worked for a tree trimming outfit on Oahu during the 90’s, we had two stick boom cranes and 6 bucket trucks, I had suggested knuckle booms instead but the bosses and owners didn’t see the advantages in knuckle booms, the stick booms has the capacity but they have were too long.
I sure hope you are not allergic to the mango tree, I am cannot touch the leaves the peels or the blossoms, and they bloom for 6 months, good luck!
Wet mangoes!
Just call it reduce and shape 😆
Look Kevin!! That's where baby wet mangoes are born, not supermarket bulk bins all dried out and sad.
I like the dried out sad mangos best
The tree was really pretty before it was trimmed up, and now it looks more like a bonsai. It looks nice, but I am not an arborist. 😉 Did the birds nest and eggs survive?
I know you eat a lot of mangoes at home, so, how do they compare to fresh Hawaiian mangoes?🥭
haha I do love mangos! yes they are better in Hawaii for sure and yes the nest and eggs were perfectly preserved!
Hopefully it's not a tripping tree!! Lmao
MonekyBeaver speedline slings, if I'm not mistaken?
That juice is from the dried mangoes
Hi jake
Not understanding the mockery of the top 10 tree crew in north Oahu .... at least sounds like a blast.
It’s just funny because it’s a really small region
may be there is only 2 business doing tree work!
Would have liked this video but only the thumbs down was showing. Never have seen that before, Good video!!
I wonder what type of mangoes this tree bore ? THERE SO MANY TYPES OF MANGOES, 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
👍👍👍
😂 I don't even know what kind of Tree it is 😅
Love your videos! What is the name/brand of the handsaw your using, looks super sharp.
Jake question on the long sleeves, is that for sun, sap alergies, or something else? Seems like the whole crew is wearing them
Is that a wet mango tree or dry mango tree?
Haha 😂 definitely a WET MANGO!
Nice vid. Loose the beard. You so handsome without it! 😀
And by Osha standards you're not allowed to hook up to a Crane's Hook it used to be a shackle above the ball but no longer it's Not allowed unless you can prove there was no other Safer method to do that.( A lot of haters out there don't give the Ammunition Stay safe).
Won't that severe of pruning kill the tree?
better get Kevin to get his dry/wet mangos
Pecans can be stumped as well and grow Right back. The house next door to me had some really big pecan trees that were 80 ft tall and the crazy lady that was my neighbor who lost it and the bank sold it to my new neighbor anyways these trees would drop pecans in my yard my dogs would eat the shells and then I would end up in the vet with blockages or some kind of internal tear and she would not cut them back reasonable enough to where they would stay back is in a week they'll grow a foot the new guy I told him you can take that thing down to the crotch and it'll grow right back in a few years so he did and he was maintaining them at a short height until he took a job out of town and the house is selling again in the trees and once again grown out of control also down the street and they were stumped an
American elm because it was too close to the paraloids and there's already a tree growing back out of that stuff
Did you get a new harness?
oh only realised it was a crâne jab at 2;30
Do you guys ever put nets/tarps under the tree to minimize cleanup?
@Guilty of Treeson, Mango 🥭 R Us! Gonna watch this with the Mrs. on the 4K TV!! Edits/cuts are well thought out! Hahaha Island Bois....hehehehe The Mozart of Tree Work! Question: is spiking a Mango tree harmful to the bark? Almost looks like a Giant Bonzai tree with a long trunk.
Mozart? More Cho,pin
Is it just me or does John look like Parker from gold rush 🤔😂
They don't keep chains sharp in Hawaii?
They must not get thier chains from Sappy Supplies?
hey Jacob I was trying to ask you about those defenderpros u got from clogger, ur the only one I know who wears them but u were mislead I believe thinking they are heavier for the fall, they should be even lighter than the zeros. what you think after having them a while?
Funny that he doesn't want the tree cut down but there are only limbs over his neighbors house not his. By design i'm sure.
Hey, do you have a favorite brand of climbing boots?
