..wow, this jam really made my day Elliott!..hope you are well..vibes from New York..I noticed you mentioned that you and John Tropea studied with one of greats, Sal Salvador, I was lucky enough to study with Jack Hotop for awhile, and my friend Chieli was already a student..thanks for this man..stay safe and stay strong..New York July 30, 2021..
May I say that I am honoured to have you as a Friend. Love you're posts. Don't ever change apart from not Reacting to some of my Posts:) keep smiling. It suits you.
These two guitar gents played on Laura Nyro LP's. Elliott was also in the same high school class with Laura. Sorry! But I love my music history, or any kind of history : its fascinating and it enhances understanding and appreciation of life today. Now I'm philosophizing!
and would love to hear more of Lou.....gotten to know him pretty well over the past few years.....and besides the great talent he is.....he's a wonderful human being and a great guy to hang with....looking forward to more vids...
That was just so good. What a tasty groove, everyone finding their spot, no ostentation. Just a few mates getting together for a cuppa and a groove. Too cool !!
Man! That's sweet and beautiful. Here we are, getting old. But the muse, the desire, the creativity doesn't go away. Very special things are regularly done by the long time veterans. The ones who stayed true, who never let anything prevent them from caring about making new music. New recordings. Can someone here confirm that Lou Marini's "Song For John" is for Coltrane? I mean, it must be. Sounds like it. Bob Belden in support. But I've never seen that confirmed in print. Sorry, I'm probably way behind on this... What's that guy's name... the leader of MJQ? John Lewis? Seems there might've been something for him... Strange to remember this the same day that the civil rights proponent with the same name, John Lewis' funeral took place.
...love Randall's chord at 2:57....how perfectly how Randall Elliottly it lays over Tropea's steady groove...what is the high note? A 9th? 11th? I am clumsy at theory still...
I met Blue Lou Marini on the street outside The House of Blues in New Orleans in 95. He's a really nice guy and an incredible talent. He's like Coleman Hawkins with his foot deep in Lester Youngs ass.
LuvLuvLuv!!!

I think the relevant words are 'oh' and 'wow'...
