As an American expat living in Brazil I was emotionally moved by your video. I have seen many reports about the flooding in the south of Brazil, but your video was the most heart wrenching one I have seen. The pastor of our church here in Macaé, RJ is there helping coordinate relief efforts on behalf of our church. As you said, the need is MORE than the government probably can handle.
I was curious to know why you chose this part of Brazil to live and set up a business? The infrastructure is terrible compared to the south, where foreigners usually settle. How did you end up there?
Thanks for your feedback. Yes, the infrastructure here is terrible, however the climate is perfect. Also, there are basically no natural disasters here. I’m a surfer, and the northeast Brazil is surfers paradise 😊
I visited Porto Alegre in June 2023 and I enjoyed it there. I wouldn't want to live there but it sure has it's charms and excellent Gaucho barbecue. I feel so bad about what has happened there, for the people, the animals and just how long it will take to rebuild.

In regards to the paint on your property. Try switching to a rubberized paint, there are several companies on the market selling them now with warranties of years on it and the most you would have to do is pressure wash them. Stay safe brother!!!
I feel for the people, but this last happened in 1941, it makes me wonder if it is a 75 year or 100 year flood plain. I'd be interested in hearing more about history before that to see how frequently it has happened historically. If so, perhaps it should be a protected area rather than a development area.
The point you mentioned about Brazilians people being spenders is true. My ex wasted all her savings, which she got from the government since her mom died when she was young, in 2 years, partying, eating out. While my American ass is saving every penny I can.

My friend lives in Porto Alegre and yeah the situation is pretty bad. It is crazy to think I was there 2 years ago and now it's in such a situation...
Yes, we landed in Porto Alegre several years ago, and now the entire city is flooded, and the airport closed.

It's not climate change as a result of human actions. That's what they want to sell you. The globe has gone through Cycles all the time for millennia.
