Helix spare tire Sub woofer programming. 2018 GTi Mk7.5 SE. Today my dongle came in today and i finally programmed 57 into the Helix DSP and I'm a audio snob. I must share this is night and day so much better than out of the box. Highs became sharper and the mids were cleaner bass was fuller. out of box highs and mids were so much harsher. Do not believe the VW info of pre-programmed for the GTI and Golf R. I called 4 dealerships to program and none would take the time. I purchased DKS-051-419A from E-bay. I used high bit rate SD card music and Pandora on High Quality Rate through Android Auto. This system sounds just as clear as my Mini countryman Harmon Kardon system with Subs under the front seats, but with more low end feel. Thank you for the collaboration with Mark (Last Humans garage)
Glad you found it helpful. Your note is worth pinning to the top! It's good to have a programmer, not only to avoid the dealer, but it's nice to help others, too. Thanks for visiting.
@@StealthGTI I'm in Middle Georgia so if any Vw Helix buyers need programming id gladly program. Stealth you're a bit too far for the 30-45 seconds it takes to program for me. Keep up the great post.

Update of Helix Spare tire Wheel install: Recommend along with the Helix sub woofer and OEM door speakers, Install Crutchfield 150Hz bass blockers on all 4 door woofers (Easy install. Pin to pin between OEM harness and woofer, white to red black to brown on front doors and same positions on rear door) with the sub still programmed at 57 sound is even cleaner and full even at default Bass, Mid, High settings. I tested and calibrated tone at half volume setting to my liking with the BASS Mekanik Sonic Overload CD. System goes all the way down to 20hz. the system will not reproduce low freq below 20hz - 01hz. But those are competition freqs . this make this system better than Dynaudio and Fender systems. Strong Recommendation for GTI owners that are also audiophiles and want the clean stock appearance without heavy modifications. Thanks Again StealthGTI
Thanks for the update! I had 150Hz bass blockers on a previous car. They were effective. But I wouldn't do it on my current setup because my sub is only processing
👋🏻Had I known you guys were getting together I would have driven down and showcased my Helix P6 DSP MK2 upgraded setup as well. 😂 Great find on the programmer! That's why I have been telling people all along to program it (Hit the button) even if it said it was already programed to your number, because it makes a big difference! Clearly it is NOT programmed from the factory. Or at least not correctly. Since I upgraded my setup, I have donated my Helix Amp/Sub combo to my wife's 2019 MK 7.5 E-Golf SEL. I am currently mid-install due to a missing clip 😂 If you have the programmer I would love to borrow it. I'll pay for shipping both ways, LMK, thanks!
Sorry, Kevin. I prefer to keep the programmer in my possession. I'm not far from Williamsburg if you want to meet for a flash sometime. Thanks for visiting.
Thank you sir! I would want to stay mostly stock so it still fits under my load floor in my spare tire (your setup is sweet but a bit intense) so I've been looking at Helix for the future. This rounds out what I needed to know.
There's also the possibility that the Helix IS pre-programmed and the Dongle has a fixed dial that stay on the last used setting. In order to find that out you could use a second dongle and have the 2 dongles flash 2 different settings after another. Then see what the first dongle reads after flashing the second? I'm not sure I buy that. But, to be honest, I'm not interested enough to find another dongle to prove it. ;-) Regardless, we proved that Helix is not pre-programmed, which was our goal. Thanks for visiting.

I recently purchased a VW polo vivo in South africa it came with the helix subwoofer and DSP. At the moment it destorts when volume is above half way. Where can I purchase the dongle to program?
VW dealers won't sell them to you, not here in the US, anyway. Try online resources such as eBay or online dealer sales sites. The part number is DKS051419A. Good Luck!
Quick question (at least I hope it is) I have a Helix Subwoofer waiting to install into my ‘18 GSW, and I picked up the programming dongle. My question is, how do I know what to program my helix sub to? Is there a master list of all the program numbers and which one I’m suppose to select?
Thanks for visiting, Louis! There is a master list. I don't recall where I got it, perhaps with the programming. The short answer to you question, though, is you need file #60, which is for the Golf 7 Variant (GSW in NA). Take Care!
Hey StealthGTI appreciate this super informative video! Just thought I'd ask you may happen to know, I have a 2021 GTI SE with the new MIB3, would I still want to flash to #57? Thanks in advance!
I don't know if the Helix system is compatible with the Mk8, not yet, anyway. It may connect and it may work, but the latest data files do not reflect having files for the Mk8 platform. Do you have Helix installed already?
@@StealthGTI I live in California, so my 2021 is the last Mk7.5 version but it happened to come with the new MIB3. I haven't pulled the plug just yet, as it seems they may not be compatible. Might just have to go to the dealer and find out.
