Today people die of obesity, virus, disease, drugs... Alot more than car accident. Government should stop mandate so many safety on cars. They should keep cars simple like during '90 years.

You can thank everyone that keeps voting for "just" more big DADDY gov't. That's led to more "safety" and with "safety" = heavier more expensive and more complex vehicles. So now we have everyone texting while driving in their "safer" land-whale SUV's, all while wages have remained flat after adjusting for inflation = less disposable income after paying for the "privilege" of driving. On a positive note, there's a lot more remote work out there these days, so atleast there's more options to not be forced to commute, but, insurance costs and everything else has increased to takeup any savings that one would have had. Inflation is what gov't wants to have so they do not have to be fiscally responsible, thus all of the federal reserve QE and debt monetization games. All of it's designed to lower living standards for those whom are in developed nations, and for the top corporations that now physically control gov't = you lose.

I still long for these vehicles. This or a 92-93 CB7 with a 5 speed would get me through the next 15 years. I just miss everything about them. I wish America would fall in love with cars like this again. I sure would if I could find one. Listen to that valve train. Sounds like a fine Swiss watch, only more precise.

I currently own both generations and love both but yes, the 90-93 generation was peak material and build quality by far. 94-97 had clear cost cutting in noticeable areas like plastic headlights instead of glass, and plastic instead of metal door handles. Also the door pans were cheaped out on. Overall the 97 drives and rides better than my 90 and feels more modern but the 90 just feels more quality.

As long as a Honda is a manual and well-maintained, 400,000 is within reach without much of a sweat. Well done! The most I've ever done with ANY vehicle is 350K miles (a Chevrolet cargo van) and the most with a passenger car is 300,000 (my current car, Hyundai Genesis, still going strong). I did have a 2002 Accord with nearly 200K miles but I got rid of it because of transmission issues (it was an automatic), but the last time I checked, it's doing fine with a new owner.

1986-1997 was the heyday of the Honda Accord. All 3 generations were very attractive for their time and excellent cars. After 1997 the appeal fell off a cliff. I don't know what happened to the Japanese automotive industry but the late 80s/early 90s was definitely their pinnacle. This 1994 Accord was a beauty.

The problem was that the USDM Accord became its own thing starting in 1998, whereas before that it was the same as the JDM ones. Probably the same issue with Toyota and Nissan products around that time. Honda made the 1998 one larger and more conservative to make them appeal to families more. And it just got more and more bloated afterwards. Although I must admit I liked how the 2013-17 USDM Accords looked inside and out (still boring to drive though with a CVT).

The CL Type S though, is a different story, with the 3.2L V6, especially when paired with the 6-speed manual option. The 3.0L was in the middle, with the real only downside being the somewhat crappy 4-speed automatic, and 5-speed automatic with a Tiptronic shifting “manual” mode (3.2L).
All of the earlier J-series Honda/Acura automatic transmissions (4AT, 5AT), all majorly sucked and even had mass recalls put out on them. Car folks would swap the 6MT from the Acura’s 3.2L onto a lot of the other V6 Honda/Acura automatic setups.

I miss two-door cars. I drive by myself 9 times of 10 and don't need a big SUV or sedan to get around.

Best selling car in America at one point but I'd say 90% of those came as sedans. The coupe & wagon were not as popular...

The 1995 Honda Accord had the first V6 very rare

    • @cd7ex

Uncommon* I agree tho as it was top of the line around 25K original msrp? Though harder spec's would be a '94 EX 5spd wagon, '94 DX coupe 5spd no ABS, 94-97 EX-L 5spd coupe, '97 SE coupe in San Marino Red. Sedans dominated the market during that time & the LX sedan was most popular. 😉

I'm lucky enough to own one of these in a ex sedan flavor but factory five speed, swapped f22b2, manual seats but power everything else and obviously being a old 90s Honda it's lowered with a fart can (it's getting a proper exhaust when I can afford it) but just the looks of the car alone make me love it and sadly I haven't gotten to drive mine yet cause it's a 600$ beater but it's a project car lol

MotorTrend's review said rear suspensions were also double wishbone. Not sure if that was really the case.
This gen's sedan was a looker (good friend in university has one) especially before the midcycle refresh wherein the taillights were extended and didn't look as sporty. This was in Asia though not sure what the refresh looked for North America.
Edit: four wheel double wishbone all right. Found a nice article: The Ultimate Honda Accord - And No, It’s Not The 4th Generation

97-99 maxima please, you’d still see alot today if they weren’t so bad at rusting out, especially the suspension components, i remember i pulled a motor from a junkyard from a 97 and the guy was telling me how he was almost killed in a 98 because his suspension rotted out and broke, he almost died and was in s coma

I have a 1994 Honda Accord EX with a 5-speed manual. It was built in Japan, not Marysville Ohio. I still have it as of April 2022. It just passed Emissions with 368,000 miles on it.
Itis in mint condition with no rust, as I live in Phoenix, Arizona. I've had people leave notes on my windshield with their phone number, asking me if I want to sell it. That was even
before the Covid Pandemic. I'm so glad I got it with a Manual transmission, as they are very hard to find to find. It's a beauty, in White! Garage kept, always!

I have a 1996 Accord EX Sedan. The thing is unkillable! We've clocked over 300,000 miles and apart from some oil leakage, slight rust around the rear fenders, and a speedometer that packed in around 295,000 miles, it runs great! The a/c still blows colder than some of our newer vehicles. It's the most dependable and cheapest to operate car I've ever owned.

I've had a few of this generation and two currently along with a 90 EX. To get your odo moving again press the trip mile reset button and the maintenance require button, that helped my first one allow the clock to start rolling again.
