So glad i found you as im shopping for a mini excavator . Wasnt sure my new 60 acre Tn horse farm would need a machine like this - but you convinced me - thanks for being so thorough in regards to even your Trailer information extremely helpful. I believe this is the machine for me. Thanks to your help. I’m in subscriber. Keep up the good work.
Great video. Thanks. I’m leaning, like you, on the 040. Lighter machine / easier transport on a trailer behind my Tundra is my main reason. Machine has plenty of power for working my property. I’m going to need steel tracks vs rubber. I’m up here in Alaska where we have ice and snow 5 months out of the year and rubber tracks are completely useless on ice and snow.
@@alanackermann7799 yes, your right. Toyota does not make a big enough truck. I am looking at a Chevy 350 or a non CDL 5 to 7 yard dump truck to haul around with.
@jpdunamislodge good call on getting a heavier duty truck. I drive a Tundra as well - I wish it was able to do it legally, has plenty of power. What I found out is that any dually one ton has a GVWR of 13,000 lbs or more. This puts you over 26,001 lbs with the 14k trailer - CDL class A required. A 3/4 ton or non dually one ton can sneak under the 26,001 lbs but that's about it. I bought an F-650 with a GVWR 25,990 lbs which is under CDL but had to get my class A for towing the KX-040. Hope this info helps with your search
I just recently purchased the same machine. I can tell you based on experience running other machines in the same class these machines hold their own. I am so happy I bought this thing. The capabilities continue to amaze me. I too looked at the 057 and I’m glad I didn’t buy it. The added weight is great on site but moving an additional 2500 lbs adds some problems. I bought new as rates were less than used and my money is better spent elsewhere.
If ur in snow or on hillsides, steel tracks safest. Add aux too in case of adding other attachments later. Low maintenance and reliable. Owned a KX 123-3 new in 2006.
40 v 57 is absolutely the decision…..and trailering 10k lbs v 13k lbs is exactly what you said. I have multiple properties and transport is a must when you spend this kind of money. Thanks for video👍
Looks like Linder shut down or something or moved over in burlington. Im up in PG running a 57-5 just renting for now. Did have to get a three axle trailer to move it.
Bought this about 6 mos ago, love it, a real workhorse. However i wish i had purchased the machine with the enclosed cab. If you buy one, spend the extra for the enclosed cab.
Given that you’ve had it about 8mos now do you regret not going with the larger machine or are you happy with the 040-4? I’m in a similar position. Thanks for your video!
I’ll answer this way… The 40 has done everything I’ve needed it to do around my farm. Digging drainage, stump removal etc. However, if I had it to do over I’d probably get the 57. The 40 can be a bit tipsy and I wish it was wider and heavier.
What would help if you could tell what the difference's are between the 057 vs 040 in break out /lift capacity, reach . Etc. I appreciate the price difference you stated. I'm needing one to sort my overgrown 30 acres and possibly do side jobs of fence line clearing. Thanks
Seat has 2 height settings, if you pull up on bar raise seat and drop. Gives your hands a better position to joysticks, they are very low compared to others
@@rontopping2048 maybe you should check some out because a few do, including the one posted in the video which I bought. I’m saying below the seat not under it
Sorry but there is no way that is correct. I’ve been quoting these models for several years. I also quoted similar sized Deere machines and they had different price differences as well.
@@firstgenfarmer9809 I've been pricing them out for over 2 years myself. Massive price difference between local dealers as well. I ended up buying mine from way out of state because all the local dealers were 10k over what I was getting quoted out of state. What did you end up paying for your 040?
Thanks for watching. Everyone has an opinion. I'm never going to take on the liability for being overloaded and being found liable in a law suit. I also prefer the peace of mind in knowing that my trailer is being used within its engineered design.
Nice review on the KX 040-4 I just got a quote from my Kubota dealer on this machine your review was the best I’ve seen so far.

Careful towing with a Tundra, it's not rated for this machine on a trailer. Minimum 3/4 ton needed. 14k trailer will be maxed out. Be safe out there

Great review! Looking at the same machine, I've rented one to dig and repair a well. Sweet machine.
Mid 70k is bout right for new. Own one and love it. I’m bout 6’ 200 lbs. comfortable.
You should look at kubota svl75-3, awesome machine. 1 piece cab now , pressurized, very quiet

They moved to Greensboro area. Built a new dealership.
@firstgenfarmer9809 just passed by Linder its pretty big. Looks nice
Trying pick from the KX033 vs the KX040. Good 040 info here. Thx.
Did you pick one yet? I am torn between the two also.
Looking at same machine in Arkansas. They want 72,500 plus tax. Is that comparable o what you paid ?
Only KX040 video that tells what that fuel button does. I couldn't even find it in a manual I found online. But it wasn't a 2023 manual.
Thanks for watching!
The 40 is about at the max of a 14k trailer, especially if gravity tilt.
I just got a KX040.
Can you show all the grease zerks? The ones on the cab, how often? Is there different ones for the turntable?
Thanks in advance!!
I'll do that in a future video. Unfortunately that will likely be several weeks before I post again. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the response. For video ideas, how to use the float function and use it.. well. 🙂
nice and informative video...how much did this cost?

He is spot on. The only reason I went with 40 over 57 is hauling the weight.

No excavator on the planet have storage under seat , seat is mounted firmly for safety

75k

If you save 1500 on 3 buckets. Thsts a win. Even if they only last 2-3 years a piece
Just never talk about the fact that the cab is so small thats you can barely fit in it if youre over 6 ft lol
