  • 🌬️ Brace yourselves! The most intense Pacific storm of the season barreled into the Sierra Nevada region with full force February 29th, bringing heavy snowfall and fierce winds that led to blizzard conditions, shutting down highways and causing power outages for days!
⚠️ A blizzard warning was in effect for much of the Sierra Nevada area until Sunday, March 3rd, with the peak impact expected from Friday afternoon through Saturday. Up to 10 feet (3 meters) of snow fell in the Lake Tahoe vicinity, with lakeside communities facing 3 to 6 feet (.9 to 1.8 meters), and over a foot (30 centimeters) recorded in valleys on the eastern Sierra front, including Reno.
💨 Winds roared at over 115 mph (185 kph) at ridgetops and up to 70 mph (113 kph) at lower elevations.
🌧️ According to the National Weather Service, there were no signs of the storm weakening. If anything, snowfall estimates increased - it was indeed a snowy weekend like no other!
Hope everyone stayed safe and warm during the storm! We hope you stocked up on essentials and always make necessary preparations for future weather events! #PacificStorm #SierraNevada #BlizzardWarning #SnowmageddonThis was the biggest snow dump in the Lake Tahoe/Reno-Carson areas of the season.
We have had such energetic clouds due to the storms and rain that turned into feet of snow in the valleys. The Reno/Carson - Lake Tahoe area got hit hard and this video shows some of that activity.
This is a time-lapse video of the high clouds dance that mother nature put on for all of us in the Lake Tahoe - Reno area on March 1-3, 2024.
We have added some music for ambience. Enjoy!😊
