Great video 👍 FYI, for some of ur viewers: Bank 1 is driver side, Bank 2 is passenger side Sensor 1 is the sensor closest to the front, Sensor 2 is farther rear. Example: If O2B1S2 is bad, you don't need to replace them all. Just the one O2 sensor on the driver side behind the catalytic converter. (Sensor 1 is closer to the engine, if you follow the tube)
@@22mrwright Great observation. It probably is, but you would want to compare against the values for the other sensor on the same side, B1S1, and see if those fluctuate equally. If B1S1 also don't fluctuate as much, then it should be ok. Otherwise, I'd consider changing it as well. 👍
I have a P0171 code on my Volvo XC90. The ST and LT trim stays within range the entire time while checking live data, but the lean code still illuminates the check engine light. Wondering how this can be while in range. Also, smoke test revealed no leaks. Oil trap was replaced, new plugs too.

I have a 2002 nissan sentra and the SHRTFTB1S2(%) and SHRTFTB2S2(%) stays at 99.2 all the time. Would that be bad sensars after the converter on both sides. Thanks for your help in advanced.
Thanks good, this really helped. My question is ,My Hyundai Elantra shows a stft bank 1 sensor 1 OK but it shows a bank 1 senso 2 frozen @ 99 % .Is there 2 of these sensors in a 4 cylinder engine or is that second one a dummy?
Hey, I'm just now seeing this. Thank you!! And yeah so you have an oxygen sensor before, and after the cat. That's why some cars have 4 02 sensors because the car has 2 cats, but that's mainly 6-8 cylinders with 2 banks. More often than not, an 02 sensor reading of 99% is cause by a bad sensor. It could also be wiring so just give that a look before replacing the sensor. I think I went over that in one of my later videos, but if not it will definitely be in the new one I'm posting tonight!

Ashur deKelaita well monitoring misfires with scanners only give you a cylinder misfire count and let's you know how many times there is a miss. but I can definitely make a video on how to diagnose a misfire and how to pin point what cylinder it is if you don't have a scanner with those capabilities
Good2Boost would that be in the LIVE Data section or you mean just when you get an error code in the stored/pending section. I have my car in now getting new spark plugs and perhaps coils (hopefully no injector needed) for a cylinder 5 misfire, and just want a way to diagnose with more accuracy to make sure the problem is indeed solved, since I would only get the misfire when jumping on the throttle. But my car was also running rich in bank 1 so appreciate all the info on live data as pertains to Oxygen sensors and fuel trim figures. There are no figures in Live Data that records data for spark plugs and ignition correct?
Ashur deKelaita that kinda sounds like a ignition issues bad coil maybe. and as far as using the scanner if you have a higher end one you can see exactly what cylinder is misfiring even if the cel isn't on for a miss. but the cause of it is up to you to figure out so I will Def make a video on that to show you how I go about finding which cylinder and why
and also Alot of scanner don't have the misfire count in the live data unless it's a pretty high end scanner. I'll make the video sometime this weekend so check back for it.

I want live data from from a closed loop system that is not showing me the stored information in the computer that is (+32.8 STFT) and (+32.0 LGFT). Code P0170 on a 2000 Jeep XJ with CEL. Code states engine is lean. Reality is engine is rich. Vehicle has been out of commission for some time, but now back on the road, running lean/rich. After clearing the code a few times, I went for another, longer drive (10 miles) and the scan tool was plugged in (Zurich ZR8), it showed the same code as Pending, but no CEL is present. Although I can smell a rich exhaust, it appears the engine is “adjusting” to run cleaner and I hope that driving it will continue the trend towards improvement in exhaust quality. (poor fuel economy likely). How can I be sure I have cleared DTCs from memory, and obtain only closed loop live data going down the road? Do you driving 10 miles,, turn off the engine, plug in the scanner, turn the engine back on and immediately clear codes, then quickly drive another 10 miles to get the correct, real-time, closed loop data?! Yeah, that’s a mouthful, but I think you will understand my question. Thx to you and anyone else that can give me the step by step for clearing the codes and getting solid numbers from the closed loop to figure out what is going on. ( I can’t find a vacuum leak using the spray-mist test). Thx
Ok questions on something have a 2003 grandam getting crap for gas mileage change plugs wires filter was told do a live Scan I did my longft1 goes negative to about around 5 to about 10 to 13 when I press on gas was told if your on gas it should be + not - but your video says + or - ok told could be a cat going bad but not codes just poor gas mileage and car seems have power so are my fuel trims ok hope you can understand how a write it all trying figure what going on with my car thanks
Hi my o2 sensor O2B1S2 shows "0" voltage whilst O2B1S1 fluctuate 0.5-0.7+ volts is that mean that o2 sensor that has 0voltage is down and needs to be replaced. Long fuel trim 25+. Thank you great video
Take off the sensor and get a volt meter. Set it on Ohms. Look for the two cables that are the same color. Connect the voltmeter to those two ends. You should see a resistance between the two.
hey i found your video very helping but i have a question my o2 sensor 1 is rapid and my 02 sensor 2 is steady and im getting a p0420 now in your video you say the opposite do you have a explanation for this?
The live data on my scan tool indicates that the voltage for my upstream 02 sensors fluctuate just as they are supposed to. However, my downstream O2 sensor remains flat at 0.000, so what does that mean? What kind of voltage should we see? For your downstream O2 sensor, it remained around 0.030 and 0.040. So, what does that mean?
Highly chance im wrong im still new to learning about cars but from what ive seen is that downstream pretty much checks up on your cat to see if its working... dont take that advice highly though

Bank 1 Rich. STFT S1 -27.3% STFT B1. S2. -27.3% steady on both.
Oxigen Sensors output V ( B1 -S1 0.855 V
(B1 -S2 0.035V
How come if S1 is reporting a Rich
Sensor 2 is reporting Lean.????
My problem is that pcm is taking fuel away
From bank 1 to the point in which
That bank is not working...
If you disconnect those 3 coils from bank 1
They don't miss.
But I you reconnect the bank and
Do the same thing to #2 bank each cylinders
Started missing if you disconnect all 3
Engine won't die.
Pcm supplies supplies fuel to bank 1
And then they are running...
This is weird !!!
Then if you reconnect bank 2
Pcm shutt down bank 1....
Any advice on this behavior of pcm?????

Thanks for the info....question however.....I have the same scanner and would love to know what the G and ? mean following the values. I can't find any info on what they mean. Any info would be awesome
drew bork G means graphing is available (click on ok/enter with the line highlighted and you have a graph... And the ? Is just info... Push it and read!
Is there a way, using live data, to see if a cylinder misfires?
My O2B1S1 volts shows its 3.550. And my car is running rich it burns alot of gas. What can I do ?????
To the point.. excellent.. Thank you!
Can you please do the All the scanning and graphic chart
, explain how that work 101, if you can ,thank
My TP (%) 9s at 10.6 at idle. But yours is at 0.0 unless you hit the gas. Is that telling me something?
yes your tps is bad
Thx
Just what I needed to hear
So while this data is being recorded is the car parked? Driving consistently at what mph?
ASKED to soon lol
Just curious what brand of scanner you’re using.
What if short term fuel trim is at a constant negative number?
This is mine when I give it gas. What can it be? 02 sensor 1 stuck rich
im@trishperkins5416 I am not following you. is this question or answer to mycomment?
Ok questions on something have a 2003 grandam getting crap for gas mileage change plugs wires filter was told do a live Scan I did my longft1 goes negative to about around 5 to about 10 to 13 when I press on gas was told if your on gas it should be + not - but your video says + or - ok told could be a cat going bad but not codes just poor gas mileage and car seems have power so are my fuel trims ok hope you can understand how a write it all trying figure what going on with my car thanks
How do u live stream data, I can’t see this option, I did it once and now it doesn’t pop up, maybe I have to run it a while idk I just bough it
Hi can you real the reall kilometers of the car with this scanner
Will the zr8 read oil pressure in Live Data
Thats ur cat

The live data on my scan tool indicates that the voltage for my upstream 02 sensors fluctuate just as they are supposed to. However, my downstream O2 sensor remains flat at 0.000, so what does that mean? What kind of voltage should we see? For your downstream O2 sensor, it remained around 0.030 and 0.040. So, what does that mean?
Highly chance im wrong im still new to learning about cars but from what ive seen is that downstream pretty much checks up on your cat to see if its working... dont take that advice highly though
