Unique voices are hard to find. They're out there with all their hands on the wheel but never reach the limelight. Lucky just to reach the long slow fade to a darkened stage.
It's greatness. I've tried to sing his songs as he does, while playing my guitar, and it's hard, because Ben has such control with his phrasing, and he hits notes, up and down, with perfection and ease. He's underrated as a singer. Plus his voice creates such beauty, i's beautiful to listen to, but he creates that while doing it with such technical skill as a musician. It flows so nicely, that it's easy to miss his skill.
I was thinking the exact same thing. Folk indie feel but it still appeals to everyone. It's so funny how his instrumentals, meaning piano or acoustic minus the electronic add-ins tends to be just that much better. He does some Neil Young songs. I wish they would play together sometime before it's too late.
Dangerous divide reached between Ben and her. One is a genuine artist and the other an actress. She more than likely fell in love with his music and the idea of him instead of actually loving him with all things set aside to what really mattered. Tiny vessels.
Well, reallyhappytrees, I think it's better to let a musical artist do their thing, and see what it's about and appreciate it. Ben's different at different times, and that speaks to his insanely great level of talent that he can create and perform with such immense variety.
No one will ever be Neil Young except himself. Ben is more of indie folk and still maintains his typical signature vocal patterns. Both are great but in no way is he stealing Young's style at all. If you want to think that way then any folk singer with only a guitar and a high soprano voice is then considered copying Neil Young. Just saying think about that as Neil wouldn't want to be the only one allowed to do folk music and you know he would agree. Gatekeeping is what ruins music.

Ben has made so many timeless songs, I have been listening to death cab since high school twenty years later and his songs still give me goosebumps.
