Woodturning a Gnarly Red Oak Bowl

- My biggest bowl yet! I was worried the whole time that it would fly apart. This piece of red oak sat out in a field for 6 years! All this bowl needed was mineral oil to bring out the beautiful patterns!

It's really beautiful. You have a very good skill.
Can we buy this kind of tree bowl from you???
From India.
Thank you so much!Unfortunately I'm not selling any of these right now.
Nice work, Hogan! Roughing it with one foot on the ground and the other bracing the lathe! The torments we put our Jets through... 👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you, David! I didn't show the half hour of trying to balance the blank, but it still wanted to walk across the floor 😂
Avec cylicone sa sera parfait
Класс!!!!Nice!!!👍👍👍👍
I really liked the video. Fraternal hug
Thank you!
The tenon should not hit the bottom of the chuck jaws. You are reducing the hold power of the chuck the way you did it.
Q cosas mas bellas me encantan
The only time that's a problem is if the the tenon is forced into the back of the jaws, creating friction and possible keeping them from closing parallel. I bring the tail stock up gently, without locking it, just as a helping hand. I think its important to grip as much surface area as possible.
I'm certainly not an expert, do whatever your manufacturer recommends
@@AdirondackIron A great deal of the chucks holding power comes from the top of the jaws resting firmly on the bowl bottom. Read some books, do some checking.
That was beautiful buddy! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you Cruze!
🙏🙏👍👍
Sou brasilheiro eu gosto de arte viu bonito seu trabalho
Love the grain in that bowl! You must be tall or your lathe is a low rider...
Thanks man! Its a normal height lathe, I'm the problem :P A new base is on my long list of projects.
Nice bowl, beautiful grain and finish
Thank you!
Hogan, that would look great on the table full of salad! My wife made me start signing my turnings, you should do same...with your name of course.
Thank you Al! You're right, I really need to start doing that. I've only recently made things that I'm not embarrassed of, lol.
Realy good.
Thanks!
That is such a gorgeous bowl!
Thank you so much Carol!
