America is so weird. In Russia we have what’s called evening school. It’s a college you go to after morning work hours. And you can find people all ages there. I once saw a 60 year old dude join just because he had nothing to do in his retirement. Respect for that guy.
We have that here but it's mostly for immigrants (learn english and basic stuff).
We have that too at Technical Colleges

Lots of people think joining the military is one of the dumbest things a person can do. I don't. I joined the military at age 18 with a GED. By the time I retired from the Army after serving 20 years, I was only 38 y/o and had completed an Associates, Bachelors, and Masters Degree (MBA). I completed a 2nd Masters degree in Education after retiring which was also paid for by Uncle Sam - which means I have zero student loan debt. Today I am still relatively young, fully retired, and living a pretty good life thanks to my military pension. Otherwise I would still be working a 9 to 5 while trying to make ends meet like most other people.
SoldierMike6ft2 if you don’t mind me asking, what exactly did you do to be able to complete college while in the military? I’ve thought of joining the military or completing college but do you know who I can talk to if I want to do both?
@@anikendeluna2067 lookup rotc programs at universities you're interested in. I have a full scholarship and it pays for my school. Graduating this year with 0 debt.
SoldierMike6ft2 you should of joined air Force active duty you could of gotten all those degrees in a 4 year enlistment paid for without going to long deployments army isn't good for college.
Hi Aniken. The first thing I did was make a commitment to myself that I wanted to get a degree. I NEVER planned on making a career of the military - but every job I saw myself doing when I got out required a degree. So THAT was my motivation to stay focused. More specifically, I took classes in the evening after work and on the weekends. When deployed, I completed assignments during my down time. When everyone else was partying like rock stars and hanging out all the time, I was studying or in class. Every now and then I hung out and partied - but that was usually during semester breaks. And by the way, I was an Infantry soldier.
@ T2's - 4 degrees within 4 years? Oh okay, sure.
"My Parents actually paid for my education" haha I knew a guy who went to a $60,000 per year private university who I asked how he paid for it, he said that his parents paid for it
Well, that thing is pretty rare, it's obvious he comes from a rich or upper middle class household...and many parents in the low middle class give themselves a hard time saving up so their children can go to college and study something that can give them the start to a good career, you cant blame it on the kids for having opportunities others don't, or working harder than others, or having harder working parents than others.

Brandon Hill what a horrible thing to say to a veteran. Thanks for your service! You aren’t a war monger.
The Veterans at my university are the only intelligent one's though. Seriously these college kids think its ok to fail classes and be like "oh well" while all of the veterans I know have 3.9+ gpa
it may not be intelligence, but self discipline. The "kids" just follow the consumer culture that tells them in collage you need to have lots of sex, drink a lot and do drugs and what not. While the vets suffered in the military and know why they're in collage. In my opinion you value something more when you pay up-front, rather than take out a loan that you can not see or visualize, thats why the collage kids waste their time&money in collage.
@@Vollzer it’s also maturity, all vets had to figure out existing whereas high school->college students were 100% financed by the parents and don’t fully appreciate the money the loans take or the benefit that whatever assisted pay or scholarship is giving them, nothing really against them ignorance is apart of youth but it’s unfortunate how much is wasted by college students to do shit like you said, drugs, parties, alcohol, sex, etc
Some of them don't know what they want to do in life and don't really want to be there. I was that kid once. Dropped out of two colleges in one year before enlisting. I suggest it as a possibility to some of these young bucks.
There is a MASSIVE difference in conduct, I agree. The vets are all typically old enough and mature enough to have their own opinions about how the world works and what they want out of life. The regular HS kids are still trying to figure their shit out. I remember taking classes and being amazed by the kids who just quit half way through the semester. I couldn't imagine not toughing it out through even the toughest assignments or making every class. Even the smug ass liberal kids would get jealous when they realized all of your school was already paid for while they couldn't decide on a major after a year of enrollment.
Speak for your self. The vets in my calc class failed it just as bad as i did. Cool guys though, but your sweeping generalizations arent based in reality
My best friend from high school got mad at me when I told her I was thinking about joining, she said the military was an imperialist sexist organization that only cares about pillaging other countries. We stopped being friends.
My friends from other colleges made fun of me for joining the military and said I was a slave to the government forced to do their dirty work. They said I’d regret joining and being used as a pawn while they could live their lives freely and do whatever they wanted.
We all graduate from college in May 2019. I know what I’m going to be doing for the next 8 years and have a decent future set up: a career, benefits, steady income, and no college debt. My friends who made fun of me have no idea what they’re going to be doing and have at least $20,000 of student debt, and one of them of being kicked out of their parents house. They have no career set up and have a hard time finding jobs that will accept them because they lack experience.
Karma can be a bitch 🤷🏽♀️
Did you join the Coast Guard?
Brecconable army
Ariel Morrison Sounds like you have stupid friends
Be careful what you wish for. The military isn't for everyone. You may think you like it, but once you're in, it's stupid fuck fuck games. When I was a pvt, an NCO said to me, "Pvt, if you can deal with stupidity for 20 years, you're set for life."
Did you enlist or commission?
Ah, yes, the old fighting for oil argument. A classic.
Plus it’s easy to refute. If America fought for oil, then why don’t we own any of it.
@Matt Brown the counter to that is while the govt doesn’t own it, it was done because big oil lobbyists wanted access to Iraq’s oil reserves which are notable. During reconstruction Exxon and the other big oil companies moved in as “advisers” to the new Iraqi government and now own a lot of the oil extractors. But I think the invasion is chalked up more to poor decision making due to faulty intelligence and the desire for a quick victory. Even if it’s true for Iraq, which it isn’t, it doesn’t last for time. The future of energy lies in next generation biofuels, solar and hydro fuel cells, and next generation nuclear power plants. If the fighting for oil argument exists twenty years from now, I’m bouta throw hands
Swear to God the stupidest people talk the most. America does own oil and a massive amount of it. Whether we fight for oil, poppy, land is debatable. But it definitely isn't for the sake of freedom. P.S. Read a fucking book with scholarly research before you speak.
stinger913 who is this aimed at?
Because its true lol...
Funny thing. We had an instructor that tried this shit and almost the entire class tried to fight them. I just loved the veteran's look on his face when it was happening because he was just dying of laughter. Best part was when the dean came in and said we were all getting a new instructor for the rest of the semester
I question the validity of this statement, typically a dean would just shoot out a campus-wide announcement of the new professor.
The problem with a lot of people that go to college is that they dont really know what they want to do. This IMO is a bad practice for the current modern day. The world is too expensive and crowded to experiment and dabble in college when it comes to what you major in. If you plan on going to college you need to have a path and goals. Dont go in there blind and just see what happens. Dont wing it. Thats just a waste of your time and your money.(or parents money). Also, and this is an unfortunate fact of our reality, most majors dont lead to prosperous careers. You really need to go into business, management, engineering, sciences, etc etc etc. If you want to be a teacher or social worker then thats fine. Just know your job outlooks. With that said, yes, the military can be great, and it can absolutely destroy your life. Dont expect to hear horror stories in these comment sections. There's over 40,000 homeless vets in the USA. Its not all red, white, and blue folks.... On the other hand... the military can absolutely set you up for life. All the information is there for you. Just know the consequences and potential outcomes of anything you choose. College/Military/Trade Schools all have their pros and cons.
Yeah. Right out of high school I got a full ride, straight A's so far (half through sophomore year), am learning tons in my off time of school(blacksmithing, scuba, survival, mma, carpentry, etc.) All about self improvement, have a clear goal in college and idea of what I want to do with my degree and other certifications I get thanks to college board (commie bastards). Maintaining a wonderful relationship, job experience in my prospective career coming out my ass for a 19yo because I've worked real hard at it. Plan on serving in some form after college. Boasting aside. There are a lot of ways you can take advantage of the system, people just refuse to do the work, time, and research. God speed
Exactly my advice to others as well. I took a summer off to work in a warehouse after high school, figured out I wanted to be a doctor. Filed it down to dentist. Now all I gotta do is figure out when to take what classes and do em. I'm making good grades and in 7 years (already a year in) ill have my doctorate. I'm also trying to build some connections because thats important in any line of work to ensure a seamless transition after college. Best to do it early.
The reason why plenty of college graduates became streamers or UA-camrs is exactly that, no plan for a specific career in life.
I wish I had not given into pressure to go to school right away from my mom. Now I’m a college graduate with a low gpa and I don’t even particularly want to work in the field that my degree pertains to plus I have little to no life experiences that would make me stand out as an applicant. Been thinking about Joining the military myself just to reboot my life and get out of my home state
@Deutschland Über Alles in the United States, a doctorate typically takes between 8 and 10 years after high school to achieve. An earlier one is possible, but means you have to take a cram program and essentially have no life outside of studying.
As a civilian who went the college route first. I think joining the military and earning your degree through them is the smartest way to go. I wish I had done it like that. Maybe I would not be in as much or any debt as I am now. However, I think having option to go in as an officer or a higher rank is awesome too.
@Hakageryuu yeah that would be ideal, but the benefits aren't a bad incentive either. You just need to understand what you are signing into.
as an alternative community college is no joke right now, 2 years free in California. But you still need to get your future planned sooner than later.
@Melancholy Soldier you good? That sounded a little personal
Not service, but with the precedence of online college, it might be better to finish one’s bachelor’s degree in 2 years than enter service. It’s a case by case thing, commissioned officers would enter service as an officer sooner this way, for example.

It doesn't matter. It's known that that's a normal thing, because its never too late for anyone to attemd college, i know some middle aged people im university, f you have to complain how you're 31 at a university, that's your problem for not allowing yourself to actually work towards your goal. It's good to educate yourself if it contributes to your future. Did you forget that high school is past? No one cares about the stigma of slightly older people in college and you shouldn't if they do.

I grew up in the ghetto during the crack epidemic, foster care, GED and basic training at seventeen, four deployments through Iraq... None of that compares to four years of rolling my eyes everyday of college around a bunch of upperclass kids in NYC.

I'm getting out of the Navy now at 30. I have the same worries.
If it makes you feel worse, your instructor will be 25. The military taught you about the military. Embrace the it as a totally different culture and where you're ignorant, so humble yourself and it'll be ok. Otherwise, you shouldn't go.

Different people different experiences 🤷
I joined just before turning 19. Did 4 years and 1 tour as an 11B, then got out in 2016. I was able to buy a house with a VA loan before the market in my area got expensive, also got 60% disability, which covers my entire mortgage and some bills. This year I took some of the equity out and bought a rental property as well. As far as education goes, I'm 2 semesters away from finishing my Marketing degree (4-5 classes per semester+summer), school is entirely paid for, I get monthly bah and a book stipend. Compare that to a lot of my friends that went to college right out of high school and either dropped out, are still working at a restaurant and have student debt. Oh and did I mention free healthcare? I gave up 4 years to acquired knowledge and experience things that you can't anywhere else, then took advantage of the benefits. I'm on track to be retired by 30, while most of the people in my classes will still be paying off their debt at that age. 🤷

Idk about other places, but here in the north Dallas area, everytime there's a vet in a class i am taking, that individual ends up becoming pretty popular. They have always been hardworking, leading, following, and making everything around them better. Plot twist: The Professor was an Ex-Marine Drill Sergeant.
Drill instructor*
No, it sounds like it's Petty Officer Dingleberry.
Do veterans in any place in the US ever actually get openly dissed by either the professor or students? I don't mean like in this skit because it's just a skit and it is meant to overplay something for comedy (unless it is close to reality somewhere), but just wanted to ask because any veteran on my campus is just another guy/gal and no one even asks them a question about their service.
It has never happened to me from a professor, but you do get that occasional super liberal (or in some cases even conservative) person who just has no respect for the military.
Usually it’s like “oh, how could you go and murder all of those children, you monster” basically telling you all they did was listen to propaganda all their lives.
On the conservative side it’s much more condescending. I don’t know if other vets notice this from young conservatives, but I keep getting this vibe of “oh you poor soul, you gave up your individuality for all of us, you’re just a robot for the government, thank you for your service, I could never do what you do because I’m not stupid” that kind of thing.
I mean obviously these are just crazy people that don’t represent either political party, but it happens.
:Super Liberal" 😂😂😂
unless your professor is a hardcore poli sci or philosophy person, most professors and most students cant be bothered, even in california
I completed a bachelor's with my GI Bill, and the whole time, I never had anyone give me shit for being a vet. That includes a I girl I knew who wore a t-shirt that said "anything war can do peace can do better," who I had to help at a part-time job that I had at the college. It's simple; just don't act like being a vet is your entire identity, and don't act like it makes you any better than anyone else, and you'll be fine. It's the people who can't figure out how do those things who have problems.
@@537monster Had it happen in the work force (oil/invader harassment) but at university it was 'he's too dangerous/why is he teaching the class???' never felt so conflicted, students feared me, teachers were like, tell me more living history/new not p/c perspective guy of yonder who under stands Microsoft excel. The students...just were what 80's latch key crack boom kids called sheltered bubble babies who'd die crossing the tracks.
Pity the fool 💪🏾
Notification squad. Great video haha gotta love how people live giving their opinions these days
lol! Awesome video at 0:36 that face he made while the teacher was telling the class not to join the military, funny AF

Disrespecting me?!
Easy fix: 😡* HALF RIGHT!!
That last line cracked me up.
I respect this 100% currently in school full time now hoping to go into the military as an officer. Currently debating between Air Force and Marines
I'm not a veteran, but I find your videos to be insightful and hilarious.
By the gods the parody teach's lines sounds like my philosophy teacher in my first year, yup college.
How is that possible. You need to be able to think to teach philosophy
Oh no another guy with camouflage pants and American Flag t-shirt I'm so scared 😂😂😂😂😂
I teach introductory writing courses at the college level. I'd never think about veterans in this way, let alone talk to them as such. I love my veteran and ALL other adult learners; talking to people aged 18 - 23 all day would quickly wear me down. I love my young students too, but the fact that many of them don't yet know ANYTHING about how the world actually works just means more work for me.
Yes, we know. This was a comedy skit. As a veteran whose alma mater is a fairly left-leaning institution (staff as well as student body), I never got treated this way. Just the opposite, in fact. I didn't really broadcast that I was a veteran, but since I was an IA major, profs and students were always interested to hear about my 4-year enlistment in Germany and deployments to the Balkans.
@@swampfoxIX Great. I hate to think of my courses as a source of anxiety or dread, especially for vets.
Yusha, you funny for real cuh' 🙏🏼😂😂😂🔥
This is funny and how some colleges be but not all. At my community college we got vets and they treated wit respect. Not all colleges are full of liberal dumbness. But props for keeping it real some professor act like they so woke...
same here we had a 50 year old vet me and him were best friends till i called him soldier he is an ex marine i feared for my life that day.
Its got fuck all to do with being a liberal or not. Its got everything to do with being a decent person.
I went to college and got a bachelor's degree after I got out of the Army, and not once did anyone try to make me feel bad about having been in the Army. I heard maybe one or two other vets talk like college was hostile towards them because they were vets, but I think their problems were just a result of them acting entitled.
Why assume they’re liberals? Is it because they’re in college ? Lol which contradict your early statement calling them dumbness
lol leave the middle east
First✊🏾 big fan🔥🔥
Love your videos.
how prophetic, in 2021, this skit really is!!!
