It's events.like.this that I find myself drawn to. Thankfully, my brain kicks in and stops me signing up 😂. Always a pleasure to watch you race, Göran. Long may it continue!
Very interesting race concept, with the gondola going down. This allows the runner to concentrate on the uphill. What many people don't realize is that the downhills are actually the worst part of a trailrace for your muscles.
I thought this was a personal project you did when I saw it on your Strava. I didn't know about this race even if I don't live that far away from it. Looks like a great challenge!
Brutal. I just finished my first ever trail run race - 12 km 400 meter ascent. I was gassed! Can not imagine trying to complete 8849 meter ascent. Proud to see you push yourself!
Congratulations Goran! This was an insane race and your result was amazing. It take so much grit to keep going when your body says “no” and I was so glad to see you get a second wind and end the race so strong. Well done once again!
Wow, that was so incredible to watch what a come back! I also read/ heard recently not to drop out till you had a half hour break & eaten, & this really shows how much difference it can make 🙌
Jag lyfter min lilla hatt för dig Göran, Well done buddy! You're a true inspiration for anyone who wants to challenge themselves and live a active and healthy lifestyle.
Not long ago you interviewed Mark Lewis. He often undertakes crazy challenges without proper training. You should ping him to join you next time. 🙂Would love to watch that video on both channels. Anyway, before I forget: Congratulations for your top 10 placement!
Wow, congratulations Goran. It’s amazing to feel that second wind kick in and the positivity return to your mind. I’m impressed you finished. Super inspiring.
Inspiring! The camera angle in the first few minutes of footage gives the impression of an insanely challenging climb. I can’t imagine doing that 15 times in 12 hours. 🙌🏾
@göranwinblad thanks for sharing 😊that was brutal but you finished strong 🙌💪perhaps you should double check your nutrition for this kind of event. Congratulations 👏👏👏
Yeah pretty wild! That's about the elevation gain I've done over the course of each of the 3 past YEARS lol. An entire year's worth of elevation in just 12 hours. Blows my mind to see the elevation on races like this.
What a cool challenge!! Also your camera work is amazing, and I hadn't heard of those insoles before - what a great idea to make them separately and not waste them when you replace shoes. Can't wait to see you beat this challenge next year!
@@goranwinblad incredible race and grit you show Goran. I agree- to be able to take on challenges like this is a luxury and a blessing!!! So cool to see some combo of that pep talk, your body, and maybe that powerade you slammed giving you a second wind (give this man a sponsorship powerade!) ;)
Great video. As a fellow scandinavian (Dane) I love your translation of høydemeter/højdemeter. I think the correct term in English is "meters of elevation" though.
WOW WOW WOWWWWW!!! Just phenomenal!!!!! BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO Göran!!!! Maybe this one is too recent to call right now, but ... which was harder do you think, this one or your 100k youtube subs challenge or running Europe's toughest 100k after only just coming back from a hip injury ???? I know the most recent one usually feels like the hardest!!!😆🤣
Great video! Hollywood can spend a million dollars for an episode of a mediocre tv show... and I get more enjoyment watching a Swedish runner killing himself running up a hill :) Really enjoy your videos! Always entertaining!
I was wondering about the 12 hours, until you mention the lift. Look up the Mount Everest Stair Marathon in Radebeul, that one goes up and down the 8849m (with 84km) within a 24h window. The record there is 13:26.
Good job for your race. The insoles are in general very bad in expensive shoes and it's an interesting thing. I have medical insoles for my problems of Achilles' tendon. Maybe you can do a video for this specific thing...
amazing challenge :) my toughest run was in Portugal in the mountains, 43K in August last year, it took me just over 7h, and my fingers were swollen so much I had to remove my ring. I drank around 12-14L during the race. Super hot, and dry.
I would really enjoy if you made videos about long races like these longer im thinking like 30 minutes i know its worse for the algorithme but i think thes longer videos are much more enjoyable to watch at least for me
Good pacing for this kind of effort is how fast you can go while taking in >100g of carbohydrate per hour and ~750ml of fluids. Congratulations on emerging on the other side of that bonk! It is not easily done :)
Everest in 12 hours is WILD, even with the rest down. I did a 24 hour race up and down a mountain - not quite as steep so more horizontal distance, and you have to run down. It's also in the middle of winter, so conditions. But only a few people get the full everest every year, including Jared Campbell of Barkley Marathon fame. I got 10 laps for 62 miles with 26k up and down and finished 4th - only two full everesters that year. Haven't finished the vid yet - excited to see how far you get.
Wow thats a steep climb.. massive respect! I recently began running and found out im having slight nasal breathing issues, not something that prohibits me from running, but something thats making me breath inefficiently nontheless. Do you have any recomendations for nasal dialators or something that could help?
I think this is event is more about enduring the length of Mount Everest rather than the height. The challenge or really danger of climbing Mount Everest is not just the weather but the elevation with low oxygen near the top. Not something I want to run up to. That being said I wish there’s a hill like that where I lived to train for my trail runs and so inspire me to train for my 30km run in September🫡
Well this has nothing to do with climbing Mount Everest. When climbing Everest they don’t even start at sea level so they climb way less than 8849 height meters. And yeah as you say the main obstacle there is the weather and lack of oxygen. This is more of a fun uphill challenge that uses the height of Everest as a challange 😊 good luck with your training for the 30km run!
I've done 3 bike Everestings over the years, the fastest one in 18.5 hours. However, running Everesting AND within 12 hours(!), even with taking a lift on the way down, is a completely different level of a nutcase!
Top effort, bravo. But insane biomechanics that I would suggest doesn't favour long distance runners, plus fuelling is no joke (as seen). This mountain slope average is what? Compared to a TDF climber, and those climbs are never 'all day'. To be in the elite leaderboard is amazing - although from the video there's not many ppl still grinding at the end so... a very select & exclusive 'club'?
Geez, those vktry insoles cost more than a pair of Adios Pro 3 where I live. There are other brand offering performance insoles that are much cheaper, but no idea if they're any good.
@@goranwinblad it's true! 😅 in fact, they are located quite close together: mount Nuptse is also much more beautiful than Everest, but it is about 1000 meters lower!
Were the 12 minute descents part of the 12 hours? (If so, that would only be 9 hours of climbing and 3 hours riding down for anyone making full Everest height.) Also, why did the workout timer end after 11hsomething. Was that because of the half hour break?
£120 for those insoles expensive imo, aside from that great video for showing us the limits and hard work it takes to do such challenges, couch potatoes will be like I could easily do that when in reality its extremely difficult.

this race is insane 12hrs!!! but everesting is a big thing in the cycling community... of course doing it as a run is a whole another beast! also there are people who've done two of these in one go... like 2 everestings in a single run
I was quite puzzled that the entire height of the Everest should have been ran/climbed within just 12 hours, knowing that decent cyclists take around as much, (or even longer) but it is clear now. This is not "proper" Everesting. For proper Everesting one should also run/cycle down the same road/path on their own, no car or cable cars allowed. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Everesting

The record for that is 10.5 hours, some people's fitness levels are ridiculous.
so if you didn't finish the everesting in 12 hrs that's it? like couldn't you continue beyond the time limit and finish the everesting?
Now the gondola stopped, could have continued if I ran down myself, will come back next year and get it done 😊
