The first few episodes are just nice and normal, the daily grind, and then the main antagonist shows up and everything takes a really dark turn, and the hamburglar dies in the end

I really like the idea that all the McDonald's characters are regular people except for Grimace, he's just Grimace. If this was a show I'd want them to never explain or address it.

Well, he has to strip down before people can actually *tell* that he's a big purple monster. A big part of his story is his tragic dating life. When it's time to get down in the bedroom, he has to say "hey, before we do this, I gotta tell you that I'm a little bit different..." And once he's naked, they freak out and run screaming because they were about to make love to a big purple monster.
But then he meets someone who is totally into it - super hot for that fluffy purple goodness. But that ends up being just as bad because he's just their fetish. They don't really see *him*. Grimace isn't just a piece of meat, he really wants true love. He needs somebody who accepts him and loves him for who he is.
There's also an alternate universe version in McDonaldland 2, where he's married with kids -- totally "Leave it to Beaver" domestic bliss. But it's a running gag because he doesn't really catch on that his kids are normal humans and aren't even a little bit purple. Every once in a while he starts wondering where they got their curly red hair, but then something wacky happens to distract him before he puts two and two together.
"Ronald McDonalds lack of sex appeal comes from the fact that you cannot see his ears" is the EXACT hot take I wanted. Karina is a genius.

nathan just busting out a whole SPREAD of styles in his ideating process is kind of stunning to watch. nathan continues to be the absolute champ in breadth of artistic style.
Nathan flexes are arguably harder than Julia flexes and I'll fight anyone about it
For me Nathan's process is the most fun to watch.
I can honestly, unequivocally say this is the best nathan drawing I have seen in the years I’ve watched drawfee. Wish he showed his sketchphase more.
Nathan pretty much always nails the different styles challenges. Probably the reason he is willing to go first every time.

I love that Julia did a carefully thought-out rough for the cartoony BK, but then basically freehanded the grimdark realistic one.
I like the idea that Creepy Burger King sends out a body double in the form of cartoon burger king as a decoy, people think he's friendly, bumbling around the town, he's the best king they've had in years, everyone loves him, but they find it odd that people keep disappearing after a summons.

The rest of the MCD crew made as big a show as possible trying to get a look at the man who just walked in.

Ronald's face was nearing the same color as his hair, and he hoped it would help him blend in the red booth they sat in.

I actually got an ad once that was like, a McDonald's commercial but anime, and NO JOKE even with as short as it was, I actually kinda felt invested in the characters.
