Pallet forks.
Bought my 1025R new and had it for 2 years before I finally found a set of used pallet forks. They were a game changer and now they are on my tractor as much or more than the bucket. Only regret is I didn't think about them when I purchased the tractor to get the financing. For my needs, a grapple would be handy now and then, but my forks are an everyday implement. Thanks for your videos and advise/point of view Courtney, I've learned lots from them!
Pallet forks FTW!
Thank you so much for your honest videos. I don’t have a tractor and I want one desperately because I’m a country boy living in the city. My wife says that I could be a great salesman. I was honestly trying to decide between the forks and the grapple if I ever had a tractor. Thank you for this. Also, your property is beautiful. Thanks for sharing all the info.
The intro was hilarious. I have always recommended to anyone that is looking to get into a new tractor or even wanting to upgrade to get a set a pallet forks. As you stated the versatility is bar-none. You do not realize how often a set a forks can be utilized in just about any situation. The fork set fraction of the cost of grapple set up. My honest opinion when you buy always, always add a set of forks to the purchase, you will not regret it
Great info, almost a requirement to buy forks
I have been clearing land and the grapple is beyond a game changer. You can lift logs to buck them, pull on clutter to rearrange the lay of trees, and of course move a lot of brush at once. I use my pallet forks all the time around the house. Keep an old pallet around and you have a platform to move stuff that you can put from the ground to 8 feet up. Saves a lot of back ache.
Definitely many, many uses!
I use a pallet on the forks for a mobile work table anywhere and everywhere!
Forks are great butt the grapple is by far my favorite attachment! I want every attachment I see.
Haha, yep, all attachments are nice to have!
Forks are necessary. Grapples are just super super nice to have.
Agree with this!
Never thought pallet forks would be so useful, wouldn't be without them now.
Definitely, one of my most used attachments by far
Awesome intro🤣👍 Both is best but pallet forks first is your best bet on a budget. Thanks for the video😁👍🚜💨☀
Forks are the best first attachment to add. Grapples, if you're clearing land or doing that sort of work, for sure a good next choice, but a creative skilled operator can do a LOT with pallet forks.
That intro was pure gold! Y'all oughta make that a thing! I love my pallet forks, use them all the time. Can't wait to get a set of your versa forks, with a set on both ends, I'll be moving huge amounts of brush, and way under the cost of a grapple.
Thanks for this video Courtney! I love comparison videos like this! I've used forks on a friends tractor, but find my grapple much more useful in my application; especially loading logs onto a trailer.
I have both and I use my pallet forks way more then the root grapple. I use my log grapple the most because of the firewood business. I really like the idea the idea of pallet forks that can be used on the loader arms and the quick hitch.
Good stuff, thanks for chiming in
Difference between root grapple and log grapple?
Great video,I love my pallet forks,My only regret is that I didn't buy them with my Kubota BX23S to get it with low financing but I found a reasonably priced set later and have used it for moving brush, setting large paver stones etc.. definitely one of the most useful implements! Thanks for the videos!
I use a quick-attach silage fork from Titan attachments as my pallet forks and poor man's grapple on my Kioti CK2610 HST. It works almost like a dozer blade as well. I even use it with the tines pointed down as a landscape rake when going in reverse. It's built like a tank! Spent about 5 or 6 hundred bucks on it and it's been worth every cent! I wish I had taken video of how much cedar and pine brush I've picked up in one lift. Amazingly versatile attachment!
Saved me thousands! Got piles of small branches around our ranch and so I was considering a grapple but couldn’t justify the cost and now I’m just gonna use the pallet forks and a ratchet strap. It’s going to take a few extra minutes but for clean up a dozen or so piles we’ll worth the effort for the savings
I have both started with forks.
Love my brushchruser
Love the intro, Courtney! I love my grapple and I love my pallet forks. I think they both have pretty specific uses, with some crossover. I use my grapple more than my forks, but still need BOTH attachments. 😄
A huge factor I would think in choosing one over the other would be “Operator Ability”. If you are a sure enough gun slinger as an operator you would never need a grapple….. on the other hand if you are new to operating a tractor & loader I would say that a grapple would be a MUST HAVE IMPLEMENT! Great content and video as always Courtney !! 👍👍
Good way to look at it...hydraulic forks are super handy too. Love them on my skid steer
I totally agree!!
I have a two grapple buckets for my bobcat as well as for my 6430 JD and I honestly rarely use them. They are convenient sometimes, but most of the time the pallet forks or the four tine bale spears are my tool of choice. A lot of guys around me use a grapple for moving round bales, but they often drop bales and tear the netwrap. I have to agree, forks are definitely the best starting point.
Depending on the design pallet fork grapples can be a game changer .
I've never used, but love those pictures you sent over. Sweet setup.
@@GoodWorksTractors sent you video of grapples in action . If it does not down load I’ll send on messanger👍
I have pallet forks wanted a grapple but wasn’t going to pay $5000 dollars to have a third function valve installed on my 1720 ford compact tractor, you guys put out the great video’s 👍👍🇺🇸
I hear ya there!
Great video!
This is a good video - One thing that you could highlight to help others is not all grapples are the same. A buddy of mine has one that uses two cylinders and the teeth close through the jaws. Mine is a single cylinder and it closes to the points of the teeth. There are other nuances including his cost 3x times more. Huge difference that I didn't understand until I went to use mine.
I have an add a grapple on my 1025r bucket that I like a lot for the land clearing I'm doing. But I definitely will be purchasing a set of pallet forks in the future. And the fact that I already have a 3rd function, I may get the grapple on the forks as well. Still pondering the idea.
If you live in the forest, grapples are a must have. You can pick up a good set of pallet forks for $500, So as long as you need grapples, you might as well own both.
That was a big ass rock that little tractor picked up!
When I bought my SCUD the budget wasn't going to cover forks and a grapple so I went with the forks. As you say, I have not regretted that decision. I use my forks all the time. Had I gone with the grapple, I think I'd be kicking myself about now. I'd still like to have a grapple, but I'm glad I went with the forks initially.
I wouldn't want to be without either
We really like our adjustable add a grapple by Precision manufacturing. It is built very stout. We bought ours from the dealer where bought our tractor from last year. They had never sold one before and they had to switch a hose and fitting because of the uniqueness of the design. I was glad that we paid a little extra to buy it from the dealership. This is a more advanced install for a DIY. The one for the bucket is much easier install so about anyone could do that one.
The biggest thing on the adjustable add a grapple is to use a swivel fitting on the connector that is further out on the cylinder and have a hose long enough on the other connector so it can handle the highest setting when are dumping stuff in a pile. If you don't, the connector or hose can snap from the stress.
Good info Jim. Definitely best to wait until you have the grapple on the tractor to size hoses properly.
@@GoodWorksTractors Do a road trip to Western Arkansas, and you can have some play time. You can even bring some toys. Lol
Ahh you beat to it with your intro, I was thinking of doing something similar 🤦🏼♂️😂, loved it 👍🏻. I had both but decided to sell my grapple, I wasn’t using it that much. Have a great weekend guys 🙋🏼♂️🙂👍🏻
Haha, yeah spur of the moment thing :) Have a good one!
One other thing you can do to pallet forks is add anther pair of forks, for 4 tines. This is good for smaller rocks 4inch to 24 inches, lifts them in small piles without them spilling off to one side like when you have just 2 tines, plus leaving most of the dirt behind. Also useful for sod busting, digging into the ground and pulling up clumps of grass and weeds, with the spacing to let the lose dirt through, 4 tines gives you around 2 foot working width and is much more effective than 2 tines.
The additional forks is a great idea! Someone else told me that you can flip your forks upside down and gain another 2' of lift height.
If I could only have one I would take the forks but would really appreciate having both love the introduction
Best video yet. Awesome
Glad you think so!
For the small property owner, pallet forks definitely win out. When not in use, they take up next to no space when left in a pallet. I don’t regret my pallet forks nor the narrow pallet jack and some pallet racking in my garage.
I love my forks. Yes they can do just about anything, but that stability of the grapple is why I want both
Bought a grapple for my kioti ck2610 and it is a game changer for clearing land. I’ve got wild grape vines and they r insane to clear couldn’t imagen going it with forks
Try as i might, and ive watched many a vid for ideas, i cannot imagine a use for pallet forks at my place
I got both of them and use them both. I seem to be doing more with the grapple (BC) every day. That said, I regret not having bought a set of forks sooner...
Love the silent movie intro. Great job as usual Courtney
i use pallat forks for just about everything. But they have been a god send for loging. picken up cut logs pushing brush over. They may not be the best tool for the job but for the cost different pallet forks are a major win to me. i dont like one trick poneys yes a grapple would be the better choice but would also lose capacity just got a bx23s. So i make due. but still does a good job with pallet forks lol.
Another great video. Why do use use the JD with the ROBS in the down position?
Great video, Where is June, Is there attachments out there that really have NO purpose at all... the best one is! 3 point forklift, add a closed pallet and you got it made, NO UTV needed...😪
Haha, she wants to renegotiate her contract so she's on strike right now...more treats, naps, play time. 😂
@@GoodWorksTractors a dog's life, she's funny.....
Intro was great!
For my applications, the pallet forks are all I need.
Thanks for sharing!
Good comparison. You showed a set of pallet forks for the 3 point that are quick attach compatible. If you had to carry a heavy load, would it be better to have load in front or rear?
I just bought a set of pfl1242 pallet forks for my bx and they are a lifesaver. If you don’t mind me asking what is your opinion on the bx1880? Keep up the good videos!
Good Morning!, Always thought I wanted a grapple but I've made it through all these years with just my pallet forks......just sayin'
that's a good point of view...can make due with forks much easier than making due with a grapple
Good comparison. I use forks, have no front hydraulics, and do 80% logging for a lumber mill. Many of my logs are at or over my lifting capacity so I’ll stick with forks. One thing that could tempt me to change would be if a grapple could be designed for a firewood use where it would secure the log throughout the entire process and the tines were spaced and constructed to aid in this without damaging the chainsaw.
Pallet for grapple . 12” wide . Cut every piece 16” too last piece .
The opening of the video was too notch! Well done
For my kubota bx non-quick attach I use brush forks from earth and turf attachments. There were a lot of advantages to those over cheap ones from amazon. Quick attach was too much of a
cost for me to justify one attachment mainly.
You can probably fab a set of removable forks to attach to the grapple
I think if you can only get one, I would get the pallet forks. I have both but I had pallet forks first, so from experience, pallet forks would be my first option.
I have both, I use my forks much more. The forks are a must have, the grapple is a luxury
I had to go with a grapple before the fork. Have a lot of Rose of Sharon to tear out of the woods. Wish I had the coin for the forks right now but maybe next year.
Having forks for your tractor should be the 11th commandment.
I LOVE THE OLD TIMEY SILENT MOVIE INTRO!!! Black and white, slightly grainy and a bit faster than real life. That was awesome! My two cents is buy once cry once. Get a real grapple and true third function and never look back. In todays economy, this stuff will never be cheaper than it is TODAY.
Forks for the win, I use them for everything.
I seem to use mine every day
Have you seen the pallet grapple from Frontier? It works nice for moving logs or brush and isn't cost prohibitive if you have third function installed.
Do you have a model number? Thank you in advance.
@@virgilcresswell4994 If you have the AP11F forks it's model # PG11 approximately $600. If you have the AP12F you would need the PG12 $860
@@DeereGuy211 thank you for the info. I'll look them up.
Have not, but will check it out
lol - "That's another fine mess you've gotten us into Ollie."
As always, selection will be situation dependent.
Add-a-grapple and forks appears to be the ideal compromise.
Haha!
Yeah, forks with the add a grapple...cool option
Lol you either feel asleep while uploading or got up really early.
I have both & want both to be available. But I'd buy the forks first.
Haha, prolly both!
Not one day have I ever regretted getting forks
you forgot man basket on the pallet forks. We use it regularly to work at height,
Both, but pallet forks if forced to choose one
If I were doing more brush work I would get a grapple. My needs dictate forks though... much more versatile.
Yep, the versatility is hard to beat!
another great segment. i'd love to have a grapple but the cost just doesn't justify it. i have a set of pallet forks, i agree that they can often fit the bill. i have to quit watching your channel as it makes me want to buy more "stuff". i just ordered and received a VersaBracket that arrived yesterday. Waiting on some bushings and top link from heavy hitch. looking forward to moving my splitter around and i think the chainsaw bracket is really cool.
Haha, getting the tractor is just the beginning. Then, it's all the stuff to go along with the tractor :)
I literally use my forks ALL the time. Moving things in my shop. Use them for forestry use constantly. Moving tops of trees/brush, then moving logs. Indispensable to me.
The only solution is to get both 👍
Funniest intro you've ever done!
👍
Thanks for watching!
Once I got forks, I became a pallet thief.
GREAT intro Courtney, made me smile.
Both
Ha!
Slow down. The gf is still mad about the purchase I just made from you last week.
