    It feels so nostalgic watching this video of you “teaching” your mum how to play the flute, can’t believe it has been 9 years alreadyyyy. I love these series so much since the very first one and I am so glad this series made an reappearance! It would be such a great idea if your mum joins you on your stream as a guest and see what you normally do in streams!

    It will be great for camping, or hiking in the woods because it’s sturdier. Also for traveling abroad!

    I was just thinking about getting a flute for busking or jamming with others. Something that I don’t have to worry about being ruin easily then I saw you video! Thanks for sharing. Always entertaining when you do one with your mom😻

    Funny this just came up in my feed. I have Nuvo's Jhorn which is kinda neat because you can swap out the mouthpieces to figure out if want to play trumpet/trombone or Tuba

    I think it’s cool. Perfect for a back-up flute in case something bad happens to the metal flute.

    At $200 it cost more than my Armstrong model 103 flute my parents bought me way back in 1957!

    I actually have two of these.... I have the original bright blue model (which got baptized in the Jordan River in Israel along with me) and then when they introduced the 2.0 version, I could not resist buying the darker blue one. I have to work a bit harder to get the sound I want on these flutes than on my professional model flute, but these are great for just knocking around. They can go to the beach, they can go on hikes, and if you happen to drop it in the creek it won't be damaged. I wish these had been around when I was in high school marching band decades ago.

    I have one of these. I can't seem to get the notes above the high Ab out, but other than that it's great. The weight feels like nothing, and it's waterproof.

    I have one of these. Tuning isn't always great for a beginner like me who can't compensate well but it helps me practice more because I can leave it on my desk without worrying too much about it. So I use it more for informal practice. Also I go camping and its nice to have a flute that isn't sensitive to moisture. I still suggest getting a proper student flute as your main one because the tone is quite different and I find my student flute to be much easier to play with good intonation. Another advantage for general practice is its a bit quieter which might make it better for people who live in apartments. Best to use cold water when cleaning it. Haven't noticed any problems with the key pads but the rest for the index finger started to peel off when I used warm water. Luckily I just put some pressure on it when it was dry and it is still sticking fine.

      @JustAnotherFlutist  Рік тому

      Ah yes, the tuning is funny, but for what it is, it's already quite impressive!

    Also >_> In comparison, how well does it play?
    Because uh. I have a hard time holding my silver flute, because of disability, and having something ligher would be nice to fuck around with ;__;

      It plays okay! If you scroll to my comment to @juliacamachomonzon7640, you can read more of my thoughts on how it plays. However, if you're looking for a higher quality but also light and plastic, I'd recommend the Guo. The price does reflect the quality though, fair warning! :)

    That plastic flute seems pretty "real" to me. It's in tune and sounds GREAT!! How do I get one? I could donate my unused Gemeinhardt, and still have a flute lying around here in case the urge struck again someday.

    Oh, speaking of clear instruments. Clarinets come clear. Lol. It is one that I want because it reminds me of a recorder. They do make glass flutes that are clear. 😊

    Mine was a little leaky right out of the box. I would be afraid it would teach a kid to squeeze on the keys.

    • @JustAnotherFlutist
      @JustAnotherFlutist  Рік тому +1

      Hm! That's a good point of view. I think there's also something to be said of kids still developing fine motor skills, so perhaps the time they'd spend on a Nuvo wouldn't be too bad even if they are squeezing the keys? Good food for thought, thank you!

    I had a hard time playing that one. I bought one to teach my granddaughter but sent it back. The tone you got with it is amazing!

      Thank you! In truth, it's a tricky one. The lip cut is surprisingly small and narrow, so the airstream it needs is also quite small and narrow. On top of that, the open cavity in the mouth needs to ride REALLY low in the mouth. Low notes sit REALLY far forward in the mouth (I feel the open cavity needs to be in front of the lower front teeth), and the higher you go, the further back into the mouth the open cavity needs to move... while still riding really low in the mouth. This ends up forcing my tongue really far back and down when playing middle and high register notes. So yeah, it took me a while to understand it too. I have an actual child-sized mouth (I always have to request the child-sized dental x-rays because the adult ones never fit), so if even I have to finagle my mouth like this, I have concerns for actual children trying to make the best possible tone with this.
      But then again, will most young kiddos actually care that much about nice tone? Probably not. 😂
