I love your honesty. Moms need to be honest so that new moms don’t feel like they are the only ones not wearing flowy dresses in a field, with perfect hair and makeup and sleeping children. And keep running!!!!! It’s the best antidepressant in the world and something to do for you!
Yes! I also struggle with the Baby stage. The constant worry, the threat of SIDS, the inability to give them most medications when they're sick. Them always being sick, me always being sick. I THRIVE with toddlers. Once my son was one I immediately started enjoying my days instead of surviving them. He is the greatest joy of my life, but there are ages you mesh with better than others.
The God of the Woods, by Liz Moore is SO good. Well written, excellent character development, and interesting structure. I loved Throne of Glass! It was so interesting, and the characters just intrigued me. It's gritty, and a bit haunting, and perfect for Fall.
I’ve never met a mom who loved every stage of their children’s childhood. Ok … maybe one 😆 but I’m the opposite of you. I loved the baby stage, finally on my third I’m learning to enjoy the toddler phase too 😊
love the open concept plans for the house! I’m about to have baby number 2 and mine will be about 14.5 months apart haha. I’m hoping to be wayyy more chill about bedtimes and everything with number 2 cause I’m with you I’m not even realizing how obsessed I was with worrying about every single thing with my first and it really cripples you from enjoying all the little things with them!
If you haven’t read it, the series by Louise Penny, about the town of Three Pines (in Canada) and an inspector/detective Gamache, as well as a whole bunch of interesting people. I’m waiting impatiently for the next book, due out in October! So good!
First year is survival no matter how perfect baby is! My son slept through the night at 2mo old (luck) (just followed cues no schedule)! Its hard. Some people get through it romanticizing or having daycare/help etc. which is not bad!! I miss it now hope being a second time mom will help that phase! I am thriving in toddler phase. 10 months forward was so fun.
Having land and no neighbors has always been a priority for us. I definitely suggest building onto the house and making it what you want. Ultimately, it will cost much less than moving and buying something larger. Especially because it’s hard to find everything on your checklist.
Love these videos. I enjoy listening to someone who talks even faster than I do!😄The house is going to be beautiful when you complete it. I used to run every day for years. I had to stop after a marathon because I had terrible stress fractures in my lower legs, from the long training runs. Doc said NO running for 6 months. Then I had a car accident and fractured 2 vertebra in my neck. I healed fine from the fracture but have bad muscle spasms that are aggravated by running. So now I walk my Shepherd 3miles a day. I actually like it better. Haven’t got any tips on books right now.
The toddler period just about killed me but I had twin girls and running after both of them while one would go one way and the other would run in another direction was absolutely exhausting. They’re almost 17 now but when I dream about them, they’re always toddlers. I’m so excited to see how your home will change in the next few weeks, months and years. Thanks for posting.
I'm having my iced coffee right now while watching this after my daily devotional reading before my daughter wakes up. Life is good. 😁 Love the motherhood talk, we are ttc #2 and I totally feel you on the guilt feeling. I'm not even pregnant yet and the thought of having a second makes me nervous because I won't be able to give my daughter undivided attention anymore. But giving her a sibling is one of the best things we could do, my husband and I love our siblings and I know for sure we want 3. Thank you for the perspective your mom or MIL shared with you, that just helped me so much haha.
Have you considered a sleeping couch for the basement? There are beds where a full mattress is popping out so it's not just the normal couch sitting area which can get uncomfortable after a lot of sitting (though I don't assume you'd sit on an office couch that much, right?)
Under one I felt so trapped in the house. My son slept through the night when he turned one. Same advice for first year. He’s now 15 months and it’s so much better!
Love the plan for the house! It’s going to look great. I’m a FTM of a 4 month old and I appreciate the siblings talk. I feel the same way about feeling badly. And something I wish I knew as a FTM is how scary newborns are… omg the noises, the breathing, putting them in car seats, the list goes on. But having her is the most amazing thing in the world ❤️
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on going from 1 to 2 kids. I have an almost 4 month old, first baby, and my head spins at the thought of doing this again with a toddler running around. Everything for a season, right? 😅
What a great chat! Love all the fun updates! I’m not sure if what you have is the same as what I had on my face when I was younger. You might want to try a dermatologist. They removed mine sent them to the lab to make sure they were OK and my insurance did cover it. I think the words you need to use is “it bothering me”. Using terminologies like that, I believe insurance will cover it. I hope you have a great week.
Great video. I loved how honest and open you were about motherhood. The plans for the house sound amazing.
Thank you for being so honest about the baby stage. Really, really needed that this afternoon!

I too am a big reader. I think you would like “Weyward” by Emilia Hart. I really liked it. Loving the coffee chats!
OK, that’s crazy. I saw that same entryway photo on Pinterest and absolutely loved it! I think that would be so beautiful in your home!
Whaaaaat! It's a gorgeous entryway 😂 no wonder its making the rounds on Pinterest!
@@AllisonMcPhail it makes me want to put peel and stick checkered tiles in my entryway 😍

We'll see what ends up happening!

I'm so glad it resonated with you! It felt like a weight was lifted off my chest when I was told that
If you have flea markets near you that maybe another way to find some of your pieces too

Hi, am reading The Spell Shop by Sarah Beth Durst.

You totally need to sign up for that 10k, Allison!

Thanks for the tip, but that's not how our current plan works :)
Good morning from sunny Florida 🩴🏖😎🌞
How do you find time to read? I absolutely love reading, but haven't even picked up a book since my son was born a year ago. I miss it!
You're so sweet
