I tend to take breaks then binge watch you but I’ve been watching since around 2017 and I just wanted to say how amazing it is to see how far Abby has come! She is a force to be reckoned with, that’s for sure! Also I LOVE tomatoes Asa! Although I hated them as a kid😂
It's nice to see Abby helping prepare supper. I have a learning disability and recently got awarded Social Security disability and my family still expects me when I come to their house for a meal to help prep so I think it will help her for her future adulthood. I know this is an old video but still very fun to watch
Please know this comes from a place of love. You all are awesome. I was a teacher for 25 yrs. Have you done allergy testing on Abby. I had kids that it made a huge difference behavioral and retention. I'm sure you have,but I'd feel terrible if it helped and nobody said try it. Bless that sweet girl.
Place settings on the table are not so you don't eat there, they are there so that nobody will put messes all over the table like stacks of papers here or stacks of bills there and that doesn't happen because the table is set
Maybe put the chores for tomorrow up when she's asleep, so she doesn't get scared that she suddenly has more work to do. 😉 Especially if you actually did start only putting them up bit by bit during the day (which is even more frustrating and can lead to these misunderstandings), instead of all for the day (which sets a clear goal).

Possibly to teach her to work through distractions that she may face in other areas of her life? Shops or restaurants often play music that may cause over stimulation or other reaction and Abigail has to concentrate on doing tasks despite what is going on around her.
I love tomatoes in any manner, but my husband does not like raw tomatoes. He will eat them on a sandwich or on tacos if they are hidden or not a lot. He likes cooked tomatoes of all kinds. It is just a matter of taste, we are not meant to like everything. I love how well Abbie has been helping make dinner and interact with tasts. You are doing so great at teacher her these skills.
Can I make a suggestion for Abbie when she’s chopping things, have her standing up because I noticed her wrist was in an awkward position which would make it a tad harder to get enough strength to chop. Just a thought.

I love tomatoes but before I had gastric bypass almost two years ago I couldn’t eat them without breaking out in hives so I totally get not wanting to have to pick them out
I love tomatoes but do agree on the put the items on the side for the simple fact that it's easier for those like myself with severe food allergies and less chance of getting sick. People say just pick it off well with food allergies it doesn't work that way and sadly in some places people think it's pickiness then pick it off only to return it to the table and someone gets sick because of it. So even though it's different with not liking something vs actually can't have something for risk of getting sick or even going to ER I still get it and agree

Tomatoes: my son loves them... Daughter hates them. Said daughter has a lot of texture issues with eating. If I make a salad I leave them on the side. The issue with tomatoes is once you cut into them the juice and seeds go EVERYWHERE. There truly is no "pick them out". And if I get a salad and there is 1 BAD tomato on it, it ruins the salad for me even though I like tomatoes! So I am with you Asa!!!!
I look at the dislike for tomatoes like this, they should be on the side instead of in the salad bowl. You wouldn’t want to order a burger from a restaurant and get a topping on your burger you dislike and they tell you just to take it off. It’s the same thing.
Asa, I'm not a tomato person, although I love tomato sauce. I became allergic to tomatoes in October of '21. So absolutely no tomatoes for me. I'm with you. Don't put the tomato in the salad. If they want tomato, they can add it to their individual salad plate.
So to assist with cutting the cucumber/zucchini, an idea is to practice cutting them after her school work with the fruit chop. (And grade the activity difficulty by making slices half way for her to find the correct sizing and tactile 'groove' to place the knife at pre-prepared segments 🙂
I hate picking them out because the juice and seeds are all over the tossed salad so no veggies for me then as the tomatoes ruined all the veggies. It’s a texture thing (skin, firm part, juicy liquid, seeds, then the squishing it makes). Too much.
I absolutely love watching Abbie use those knives. One of my friends turned me onto those and 59 I finally feel safe cutting vegetables, fruits, etc. with me Limited eyesight in my not so great dexterity. It is one more step to more independence for both Abbie and me
My daughter is 3.5 and is Autistic and GDD. Idk how I'm gonna do school FT and ABA FT. She already goes to a prek for 4 hrs a day then ABA for 3 hrs on top of her other therapies that she has. Guess I'll figure it out when the time comes.
I hate tomatoes in my salad and picking them out cause I can still taste the juices! I think that’s a perfect fix, I don’t like mushrooms but my dad loves them so I always fry onions separately and then fry some mushrooms for him :)
My dad hates tomatoes but will make and eat chili, anything with red pasta sauce, ketchup and chicken cacciatore. My mom will not drink a glass of milk. Hates milk. But will eat cereal and milk and all dairy products. 🤷🏼♀️
I don't "dislike" tomatoes, but they aren't something that I strongly like either...but some things (such as Salad and tacos) don't seem right without them. It all depends on what I'm fixing, on whether I want to use them...Now my husband on the other hand LOVES tomatoes. He will sit and eat a whole tomato as a snack.

Abbie's wrist is at the wrong angle with the knife to be able to chop through - just physics... :) Not sure how you'd fix that, just saying, there's a reason it's not chopping... I think she tried to break the cucumber because she was sick of the knife not working for her. Also, tomatoes are Awesome! :) Although I am allergic to them...

Do you have direct interaction with autism? Because it's not the TV. She can't communicate to them what is the problem with her.

I like tomatoes, but I hate olives, and picking olives out of salads is a pain too, because everything else will still taste of them.
