I worked at a camp for disabled children when I was in high school. I was 17 and I’m now 58. It gave me the experience I need to go into the field of Physical therapy. I’m still contact with some of my fellow counselors. It’s an experience I wouldn’t change for the world. I even have the photo album I made when I was there. Amazing memories!!!

I am an RBT! I started because I have been watching your videos for years. I saw the ABA being done and the benefits it had on Abby. I have now been In the field for a year and a half and I love it❤
I attend a summer camp here in the UK for disabled women. It's a very simpler system and scheme to Abbies camp but with a few differences. It's one of my favourite weeks of the year, and I have made some incredible friends and memories because of camp it's my home away from home, and I love it. I totally agree things like camp are not only beneficial for the campers but also the buddies (at my camp we call them helpers) I'm so glad I found camp I wouldn't change that week for anything. Happy New Year, everyone!

It’s wonderful that Abbie is happy to be away overnight. I always loved the idea, but struggled during the actual overnights. Just one reason Level 1 ASD isn’t “high functioning.” Abbie does well where I struggle. She’s pretty awesome. 💖

I went to Falls Creek a Christian camp in Davis Oklahoma, it’s our time away from our parent(s) and then we call it back to reality which is normally life.
So I just bought my first Abbiegear... Straight out of therapy! Absolutely love it!

I'm in UK. I would have loved to be involved as a youngster and now! I'm 46 now!
Look up revitalise, I used to go there for respite, it's for adults with disabilities they run mainly on volunteers, it's always great fun I always got home exhausted and in need of another holiday. They do day trips out 6 days a week and there's shows and entertainment most nights, the staff and volunteers have even been known to put on gang shows which is always funny and there's always a heckler or two.
People think they aren’t listening or aware of the conversation your having, well they are wrong. My daughter when she was younger always let me know later ,things that were said and what she thought about it. My daughter is verbal…but never spoke around extended family or strangers when she was younger…so people talked over her. Abby is aware just fine. And you know she’s gonna love camp.

I work with kids and young adults like Abbie in schools and in recreational settings. I can say there’s nothing that fills my heart more! Every challenge is worth it because every small win is a big win! It’s made me see the world in a more magical way than I thought was possible 🥰

St Augustine!! My favorite place on earth! The perfect little getaway! It’s so cool to see Abbie love her camp. She has the “let down” feeling we all get after coming home from a great vacation. The struggle is real. I’m glad you guys get that and let her go through the process of changing gears from camp to home again. ❤

I worked at a camp here in California, ran thru Easter Seals. It was a summer camp where I lived at the camp and worked with a wide variety of adults & children with different disabilities. I learned so much in those 5 yrs of working every summer. I currently work in an high school working in special education. Thank you for your vlogs

I have a question…love this idea but. How does she communicate with the volunteers? Does Isaiah translate her signs? He could not be in the girls dorm of course.
What camp does Abbie go to? I am moving to to Florida in a few months and I would love to volunteer as many special needs campus possible.

Thank you for the great detail on camp info - I have been trying to find the right fit for my Phoebe up here in the northeast! Any suggestions are welcomed. Although not exclusively related to autism...if you are looking for a decent Audible listen (that is free with a subscription) -- I released "Welcome to Your Teenager's Brain" - I wrote it to make brain stuff less scary and help us understand behavioral development in the teen years.

When my girls were little, I could always tell if they had a fever by giving them a kiss on the lips. It was weird but I just knew by the heat and smell. I was never wrong.

I agree Abby’s awareness is much higher than some may think. I’m sure you have read some of the experiences of nonverbal autistic people - just because your body doesn’t always do what you want doesn’t mean you aren’t comprehending things
