Listen. I stopped watching your videos religiously like I used to. Not anything you did, but it happened. I started back up, and I realized I kind of needed it. My son is a lot like Abby, and I think I forgot how much your videos help me with him. Just mentally, it really helps me. So thank you. You do great work, and I do better as a parent hearing yall talk about what people don't necessarily understand or even realize exist in our worlds.
Dude you have to fight as a parent! It has nothing to do with the spectrum. She may throw her fit a little differently but trust me they all do it! You did awesome Asa!!! 💜💜💜
Asa you are such a great Dad, the fact that you would act like your looking at something to make the situation less awkward is everything for all involved. ❤❤❤
I worked with kids aged three to five in a pre-k setting. We worked on social emotional skills and problem solving skills. Sometimes you have your tough days. These kids came from tough backgrounds of the environments they grew up in and some came from a great home. I had worked with a five year old who had autism didn’t speak much overtime he and I worked hard together where we got to know each other through some asl to help communicate or talking with simple words for him to understand. There were days where he would have a meltdown. over time, we worked through it and developed an amazing relationship where he would talk and interact with his peers. It’s rewarding to see that. What this family is doing for his daughter by getting at her level, working through the breakdowns, talking through what they can do and how he can help and all. This is exactly what I enjoy seeing and these people are angels for what they do. ❤❤❤
I love your sweet girl. I see so much of our autistic sweetie in her…they are two precious peas in a pod. ❤ You guys are amazing….hope you all know that. ❤️🙏🏻
Thank you for sharing the rough moments too ! Some how it make me feel less alone. Had many rough moments with my son today and I have a cold. I am so ready for bed!
it's ok to do nothing a movie and pop corn is just fine you always spend time with Abs my hat is off to you sir. I think Abs is the happiest when she got u all to her self. she a daddy girl for sure.
Hi abbie and family,I can't believe abbie was fighting asa at the Lowe's store, hope y'all are having a wonderful saturday and stay safe out there ❤️🤗❤️🤗❤️🤗❤️🤗❤️🤗
I absolutely love Abby and adore your family. I have two autistic brothers, both are high functioning. I love seeing how different everyone is and I love how you guys handle her. I want to be a special needs teacher and your videos help a lot with coming up with ways I can help because every person is different. For the anxiety about her sitting and you looking at something, I think it’s 100% normal. If someone is in your way of grabbing something I’m sure you pretend you are looking at something else
Abbie, honey when I get mad and frustrated in a store or tired of waiting ill sit in the floor too... and I'm 42... my anxiety gets bad I sit down because I just need a minute... much love... I love watching your channel
When Alex needs break in the Walmart I find a quiet isle (with fun stuff for me to shop) and we sit down together until he gets bored. Sometimes I encourage him to cover his eyes or his ears until he's comfortable again if he's really jittery. I totally get that abbie is different, the video just made me think about my own experiences.
I have worked in this field everyone stares and watches your every move.I have seen guardians get more rough than a Staff would.I don't mean abusive just with stronger tone or able to do restraints. Most people mean well but it's not safe for a person in public to get involved or try to lift but I've had people do that.We have plans of care we have to follow to the t but people want to try to help.
I have seen young people sit on the floor while waiting, several times, playing on their phone or pad. Abby loves when her grandpa, is over, she's full of sweet smiles, and later, dad is getting out the popcorn, for watching a movie with Ab's. Her smiles and giggles are so cute. 😍☺️🍿🍿💞
I have a JOB INTERVIEW on Monday and I’m so excited. It’s for a part time position as a caretaker for a young lady with Down syndrome and autism. I hope I get it. I’d love to be this young lady’s Summer.
Asa I had 4 boys with special needs and it can been challenging when they have a melt down when out. I always use to tell my boys when we were going out and what is expected of them while out. To this day I don't know if they understood me or not. Funny thing my kids are all grown up now and now I do the same thing with my dad he has dementia lol.
Could she have an emotions tab on her iPad. So if she’s mad she could learn so literally tell you she’s mad or sad or excited without having to show you with actions? I hope this doesn’t sound like a silly question. 🥴
I've been working with adult autistic people for 14 years. Abbie is so fascinating and sweet. She makes me want to learn so much more about autism. Especially in the context of day to day family life, which I hardly ever get to see myself. At the moment I'm burned-out and on sick leave. But seeing Abbie, your family, your challenges... I don't feel like I'm ready to get back to work, but still, I'm looking forward to it!. And I wish could talk to you in person Asa.
This is wild..I just realized how much better i understand Abby and ive been following you since the pandemic. Abby has learned so much and i understand her even though i havent learned signs. Im just a random 32 year old from Norway and a big fan. My eyes are watering up out of Joy of seeing Abby and the rest of the bunch. You guyes are fantastic🫠😍🥹
My nonverbal son is done after speech. Your daughter is a champ. My neurotypical kids do NOT like going to Home Depot or Lowe’s…oh the whining is strong. All of the sudden they are unable to walk and need to sleep lol.
I care for a 6'4" non verbal man. He doesn't like to go into any place but 7-11 for a coke. We went to a restaurant just to walk in to see if he might decide to eat...Nope he sat right down on the floor for 2 hrs. Talk about a long wait sometimes patience is a virture.💕💕💕
It is truly sad that in 2023 people still make you feel bad when you're out with someone who clearly has a disability, whatever that may be. I take several people with learning disabilities into the community and the public ignorance still persists, alongside the educated who understand. X
I’ve watched on and off, and I’ve noticed more recently her looking at ceilings with a head tilt. Is this new? I only ask because I was given a medication in the hospital years ago after an emergency surgery that made my head tilt up, my eyes go to the ceiling, and I couldn’t speak although I knew everything that was going on. Scary.
hey, so you're not alone my 18-year-old who happens to be autistic and ADHD sits on the floor in the grocery store because she says that it helps when she has to wait too long that。she said it helps and we just let her 18 years old and sit on the floor.
Please forgive the question, and if you’re uncomfortable talking about it that’s ok too. How have you guys addressed her menstrual cycle now that she’s a teenager? Does she understand the necessity of care or is it more just a normal daily task now, such as brushing her hair? Love the channel and the care your family puts into Abby’s success.
My son has autism as well and he is a runner and I can’t tell you how many times I had to leave my cart in the middle of the isle and chase him. My son has to take breaks in the stores sometimes too and I let him as long as we are not in anyones way I let him.
Asa, do you do anything/take time for yourself? You may need a Bri's weekend. It seems all your time is devoted to your family. It's important to have some me time!
Just a thought, I'm know you guys have already tried everything you can to help her, but on the off chance you haven't thought of it I wondered if the need for the wrestling match was a sensory thing? Could you do some maximum effort type activities before those high sensory experiences like going in public to proactively combat the overstimulation?
I wish you could’ve showed the meltdown and how you controlled your emotions and tended to her concerns. I understand that you couldn’t, for obvious reasons.
Does Abbie ever hit when she's frustrated or overwhelmed? I ask because when I was having a hard time communicating my needs around age 9, I used to slap my dad as hard as I could. Eventually I learned I wasn't allowed to do that and it wouldn't help me communicate better but it was very much an "I'm frustrated and unhappy and I can't get you to understand".
This is a genuine question please I’m not trying to be a troll. In the Lowes wrestling match does physical punishment impact the behaviour? Im guessing it does not when she’s in a meltdown situation but when she’s just expressing annoyed does you physically dominating her make any difference or do you just have to ride it out.
I’ve noticed that children with autism seem to be stronger than ones not on the spectrum. My niece used to stand behind me and lift me up when she was 5 years old and me over 200lbs. She is 9 now and still super strong.
@@cheyennehalliger5438 I think she probably means the couch springs cause Abbie throws all the pillows and cushions off and sits without a cushion underneath her.

Yea i have a 22 yr old stepson like abby.. and a 16 yr old.. these help
Growing up it was a tradition in our family to have Popcorn & apples whilst watching football. It’s a great combination!
Yum! I just love this combo in general! With peanut m&Ms ☺️
I love how she’s so happy and how long a way she’s come with ceilings and how she’s doing with everything
Your a great dad!!! You guys are each others buddy.
Yes he is
That cheeky smile when you tell her she's not funny or cute🤣🤣🤣

My mom was an one-on-one at a special needs school and she would have absolutely LOVED Abby! She's an absolute sweetheart!
Asa you are such a great Dad, the fact that you would act like your looking at something to make the situation less awkward is everything for all involved. ❤❤❤
Love how Abbie snuggles up to her Grandpa & smiles at him. Real true love & admiration between the both of them. 😍

That was so funny that the end of your wrestling video, the song was Taaakeee Onnnnn Meeeee 😂🎶☀️🎶😂

I think Abbie is doing so well, every one is sometimes frustrated with things to do.
She could say words if she wanted to; she just doesn't choose to.
I'd be mad too if I was at Lowes and not home depot
Could she have an emotions tab on her iPad. So if she’s mad she could learn so literally tell you she’s mad or sad or excited without having to show you with actions? I hope this doesn’t sound like a silly question. 🥴
No its not a silly quiestion, coming from a mother. With a 16 years old daughter with Autism
She could but first she has to understand the words or pictures for all the emotions

What hurts me is when other kids look at my boy when he is excited, flapping his arms. Or they ask what is wrong with him.
I feel Abby when it comes to movies. If she hasn't watched it yet strange magic on Disney + cartoon for her great music soundtrack for you.
To be fair,.I want to fight my husband when he wants to go to Lowe's or Home Depot. Hate going 🤣

If they stare they’re rude.
