Cleaning tip: start in a corner, clean organize that area. Then pick the next small area. Clean in sections, it is not as overwhelming as looking at the whole area, room. Best wishes I hope it goes smooth and quick for you. All of you tackle the same room.
I cut my bagmaking teeth on the Cumberland and Yarnminder. Silly me, I didn't take into consideration that these were harder patterns. But with the videos, I was able to make them with no muss, no fuss, and they turned out amazing! You are a stellar teacher!
When I'm overwhelmed with house cleaning I set a timer for 10 minutes. It keeps me from procrastinating because everyone can do 10 minutes. But you have to release everyone after they do their time. It's amazing how much can get done in short time blocks and it's great for just maintaining. And only if you want to, you can keep going because you're in the mood now.
My cleaning tip is type/zone. Focus on one small part at a time, ignore the rest. But first, gather all the laundry and garage. Ignore everything else for now. Sort your clothes, and start a load, then take out the trash. Then clean the bathrooms, anything that doesn't belong in the bathroom, put it outside the door, to put away later. Don't waste time putting stuff away in other rooms, it's too distracting seeing more work. Then clean the kitchen. Finally the Master bedroom, so you have a clean room to sleep in. Save the living room and family room for the next day! And again, make a pile of things that go elsewhere. Have family members get their stuff out of the piles and they can either put it where it goes, or toss it. Good luck ❤❤
Thank you sew much Sara and Danny for all your hard, professional work on these beautiful new patterns! I have already started cutting out the backpack! LOL I live in Buffalo and I'm sure you're aware of our weather! Well, when spring and summer come...something has to give...We have so much to do outside that the inside starts to slide, just as you described. Don't be too hard on yourself....Look at what you both have given to your sewing community that appreciates you sew much! 🙂
Give everyone an oval laundry basket to pick up their own items from common rooms to take to their rooms to put away on their own. They can take dirty laundry to the washer in the empty basket. Take out bottles and garbage. 4 people x 30 minute time slots.....amazing how quickly thing start looking better. Good luck!
Although I didn’t learn to sew bags from you, I gained major confidence from you to sew these projects. So now I’m sewing more advanced items than I would have dared to attempt. The videos are a real game changer for me. Thanks so much!
Love all 4 really. Choosing is hard. Fabrics are unbelievably beautiful . Orange green yellow and floral prints are my favorite. I have sold both of my industrials, and my domestic level of sewing needs improvement. I enjoy my bright new sewing machine, and I am on a learning curve. Using only fabrics for my bags is a new technique as I was using only vinyl as my main outer. These new beauties will be a good choice for practise as all are coming with video tutorials. Sewing with you is so relaxing. All 4 are amazing. I cannot choose ....apologies ❤
Great patterns! My fav cleaning tip is for the house not to get too dirty in the first place. that makes cleaning up much faster than if I had to start over after a long time
Someone suggested developing stations, like mail, wrapping paper/scissors,tape, home repair tools. It has helped me to keep more organized once I do get things picked up.
Hi Sara - I always feel like cleaning is so bittersweet for sure! It's so rewarding when done but getting there can be so challenging too! I have actually watched UA-cam videos on the best way to clean in the shortest amount of time! And the book tidying up by Maria Kondo is helpful as well! Great show excited for the new patterns!
I hear you about the house work! My hubby wanted to hire someone to come and clean our house...I replied that I'd need to clean the house before they come and clean, I was that embarrassed about letting things go! It wasn't that bad, but definitely delegate jobs to family so that you're not doing it all yourself!
I love the new bags. My favorite is the large allium bag. The color choices are awesome and looks so great for spring. I also appreciate knowing that you can use a rayon act with the shape flags. Thank you.
Loved the show… look forward to seeing you on 3/3/24!!! I get UA-cam to remind me morning of your show and moment of starting then too but usually asleep so watch Monday early… like now
Hello Sara - Thank you for the 4 new patterns - I love them all, they really have been well thought out. I am still using my gift voucher, which I really appreciatte. Thank you to you and Danny for your monthly chat show, we are very lucky that you both put so much into it. Have good month and looking foward to March the 3rd!
Thank You Sara and Danny great show. I am a proud Bag Lady! Sara enjoy your tips. I really appreciate that when you are dealing with problems that you are humble enough to share them live with the sew sweetness family/community.And about your situation If your dishes are piling up to things dishwasher and then start using Paper Plates. I am just guessing! Laundry it all depends on the size laundry room and for any other kind of cleaning chore. Music always will help change the atmosphere. Give each other grace and space with mistakes. I pretty much enjoy cleaning. And I don’t judge any one cleaning habits. I like all four of your sewing new patterns 3&4 would be my go too.
I enjoyed your show! I like that you have several hobbies! I do, too! I was hoping you would show some of your crocheting. Thanks for the message that your purse lights were back in stock! I ordered 3 today, plus a fabric kit! Thank, Sara and Danny! Enjoy February!
Agree cleaning can get overwhelming. I try to do a little each day so my weekends are not spent cleaning up. Love all four patterns and can not wait to work on them!!
On house cleaning: (like I should talk--my January was the culmination of a 6-month prep for a large event that happened this past weekend. Not much January cleaning here either...) I like the book Sink Reflections by Marla Colley AKA The Flylady. You don't have to read the whole book to get started--she gives you lots of tips to start controlling the clutter. SUCH a helpful book.
So glad you have the recordings of your show, my dog just had to eat and then had to go out so I missed most of the live and have now watched the recording. Thanks! Dian in Kansas
Sara… many moons ago I won the scissors…. Thought they seemed nice but heavy…all over the autumn and winter I used them and wanted to thank yall properly for those scissor give away!!!! Love them 🤩
Cleaning tip - Spend a few minutes each evening (or some other time of day) putting away as much as you can in a set period of time (10 minutes, 15?) It doesn't help with cleanliness but it does hold down the clutter.
Plan to have some friends over for dinner. It’s amazing how much you can get done!
Cleaning tip: start in a corner, clean organize that area. Then pick the next small area. Clean in sections, it is not as overwhelming as looking at the whole area, room. Best wishes I hope it goes smooth and quick for you. All of you tackle the same room.
Use a timer and break it into small chunks. Also have a family contest to see how much each family member can pick up in 10 minutes.
I've also done a # of items challenge.... find 10 items to put away, or fill the recycling bin..

When my kids were younger, we would play music for 30 minutes and go like crazy. But it was 3 hours worth each time plus it made it fun.

My best cleaning tip is to put some upbeat music on that you really like. I find it makes cleaning SO much more tolerable!

The best motivation for cleaning is to invite company😂
