Love the make 18 you ended up with. It’s a well thought out 18 pieces. I’m confident that you can complete all the pieces and that you will love them. 💕
Love these plans, think this is going to work well for you. Hearing you two talk/plan things out is helping me to structure my plans going forward. I've been a bit stuck! 😻🐈⬛
Love the plans! That large rose print is gorgeous! 😍 It was really interesting (and entertaining) to hear you talk through your thought process and to have Nicola's POV as a counter balance in there as well. It's not easy to have that outsider's perspective on your own plans but it sure avoids some of the pitfalls we've all stumbled into. I've personally had mixed experiences with the one basic/should-do project before one exciting thing strategy. At times, it works really well to make me do the things I don't really want to, but at other times, it just makes me do nothing. I can't make myself do the Should and don't allow myself the Want. And then I get stuck and frustrated and even more stuck. Isn't mental health fun?! What I'm trying to get at: Try to go for it, give it an honest chance and it definitely can work really well. But if you find it is getting in your way and you just need a specific mood to tackle the basics, don't let this approach push you into a dead end where there needn't be one. Oh, and I might have just reactivated an old Make9 project of my own as a gala dinner outfit! We'll see! ❤
Oooooh excited to see you Make9 project! Honestly I have no intention of sticking to a "make one essential to make an indulgent one" ;) I can see myself powering through the knits pretty quickly and making multiples of some of them! ;)
I love this way of planning for make 9 (x2)! The chemistry between you and Nicola is a fun dynamic that is great to watch, and is very engaging as a viewer ❤ (I do love your solo content too!!) Just a quick note: the link for the capsule planning goes to a bag pattern xx
You can do it! ❤ I think the mix of new and tnt makes is a good idea. New patterns take longer and then if you don’t like the end result it can get frustrating and disappointing doing all that work with nothing to wear at the end. Ever since you made your capsule wardrobe (was it only last year?) I’ve been obsessed with the idea. Hours of endless entertainment with my stash 😂
I'm just starting on my capsule collection (planning video coming very soon!) and I've managed to tie in a lot of the Make 9 pieces. Really excite about all of this years sewing! :)
Thank you for sharing your making a "Make 9" X 2 process with Nicola. Apparently I needed to hear Nicola's message too. I reserved "special" patterns for the Make 9 list and never attempted them. I will try making an elevated 9 basics list and see what happens this year. I bought a bunch of fabric in what I think is my colour palette - medium-deep autumn - to keep things simple. My first instinct was to be excited about your print garments, especially the Dolce and Gabbana print and border dress. Drool. But after thinking about Nicola's practical advice, I am looking forward to seeing your finished elevated basics list and how you will incorporate those pieces in your wardrobe. Nicola is really great at helping you keep focused on your own personal wardrobe goals (and not someone else's - LOL!). I do that too ... run after everything that glitters! I am confident that you will finish all 18 garments by Dec 31, 2024 (maybe even before that date)! Sew on!
It really was so helpful having Nicola there to make me question why I wanted to make particular pieces.....I'm feeling confident about getting all 18 pieces completed too! :)
Love your video. It's like having friends round at my house, discussing dressmaking patterns! It's inspired me to plan a 'Make Nine 2024'...here goes. I absolutely love a dress with pockets too :0 xx
She has given you some really good ideas! I am looking forward to seeing the pieces you make! I did my colors and most of the fabric I have picked previously are the wrong color for me. However, I can make pj's and nightgowns out of a lot of the fabric so I can use the fabric. I don't care what I wear to bed. I started a pinterest board for my colors, deleted my sewing board and am starting over again. The biggest thing is picking pieces that flatter my body. I'm going to have to do some research. Thanks for sharing and for motivating me to really dig in and make things that work for me. I made a bunch of skirts that were all wrong and I ended up donating them to a charity shop. Here's hoping!
Good plan for the fabric you love but isn't quite right for you, love the idea of all the pretty nightwear! Nicola does a body analysis service too if you'd be interested. it's fascinating seeing what actually does work for you shape and style I can highly recommend! :)
Your selection for the challenge look so cool, can't wait to see them all on you! And I'm very positive you will finish the challenge! I love your dynamic with Nicola and also all your honesty about the items you choose to sew and not. I found it far to often, that we get carried away by the other clothing other seamstresses choose to make, without checking in with our own style and preferences. One of the things i really like about your sewing journey, you found your style and that is so cool. And if you make a million more V9345's.. perfect! I'm here for it :D
Video very exciting, informative, and instructive. The make 18 makes so much sense. I am going to now make my nine plans but add in those that will give me incentive to get my nine happening.
14:59 also remember that a lot of us need the shape wear because our bodies craves that support. I have rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia and I've lost almost 200 pounds so my body craves that support! I think my "make 9" would definitely involve at least one corset or a set of stays!
"I've never completed a Make Nine - except once" LOL. I'm confused! This was really interesting, love it! I like the idea of making one basic, then 'rewarding' with an indulgent piece :)
Question... are you allowed to blitz through the knit items when you're in the mood, so you can then do a few fun items in a row, or does it need to be strictly one of each alternating?
I think I will be making multiples of most the knit ones so I'll still be able to do "one of these lets me make one of the elaborate ones"! At least that's how it works in my head! ;)
It's the M7319 (I always list what I'm wearing in the description) It's one of my favourite dresses and I have done a sew-along for it. The pattern is out of print but you can find copies available :)
Can i ask a clarification question? You said you dont like solids on the bottom half, but youre planning on making a solid green skirt? Did i miss something😂 or is it a fabric type thing where you don't mind solid if its in a heavy weight fabric?
Nicola can definitely help with that. I'll be creating the Retreat Facebook group this week and we can talk about exactly what to book (if anything) :)
Love the selections you’ve chosen! Looking forward to seeing them completed!

I'm very optimistic that this one will work!! We shall see...
It's such a great idea to plan what you plan to sew and make sure it coordinates with your current lovely clothes.
Love these plans, think this is going to work well for you. Hearing you two talk/plan things out is helping me to structure my plans going forward. I've been a bit stuck! 😻🐈⬛
Glad you found the waffle inspiring! ;) x
I would love a collab that was a sew along, with a day to discuss colours, capsule wardrobe, and an option to have your colours done!

your talk makes me think about my wardrobe on a different angle, very insightfull!
I loved the planning dynamic between the two of you. Looking forward to seeing all 18 😉
It was so much fun! I'm looking forward to all the finished makes too *crosses fingers she actually gets it all done* 🤣

I’m an Erica not the Erica mentioned but I agree with her! Planning is as rewarding as making, I like your plans you got this
I LOVE planning!! Nearly as much as the making 🤣

I think you can do it! And if you "only" manage to get 9 done from the 18- you've still done a make 9 and that counts as a win! 🎉🎉
This was really interesting and I’m looking forward to seeing it all come together. Valuable wardrobe info for us ‘not yet’ dressmakers’ too. 🐥
So glad you enjoyed it :)

#it'saspringthing
Go for it. Love the success and fabric.
Thank you :)

oooooh good luck and keep us posted on how you are getting on with yours :)

I mean technically I made 8 and a half items the one time I "finished" make nine......🤣🤣🤣
@@KittenishBehaviourSian ahh, now I get it! :)
Wow the D&G print is so incredibly beautiful 😍
I'm so excited about that one 😍
Wonderful video, you can do it!💜🇦🇺
❤❤ I think i should do this for my trip to the retreat items next year
Love the strategic approach 💪 You chose interesting pieces and fabrics, I‘m looking forward to seeing them become reality throughout the year 🥰
Thank you :) I'm actually really positive I can actually do this!
You can do it 😆👯♀️💪
Absolutely love your make 18! I want to make them too! If only I had your youth and figure 😘🤩
😻😻😻😻😻really enjoyed this 😻😻😻😻😻
Thank you :)

25:09 What is the pattern for the dress you're wearing? I love bodices/tops that wrap in the front and I feel like this could be on my make nine!

@@KittenishBehaviourSian oh good heavens 😂 apparently I need to listen better😅 thanks for answering Sian!
No worries at all! :)
💜
Lots of fun plans, looking forward to seeing them sewn up. 💙🧶🌈🍓
Would Nicola consider doing a ‘talk’ or discussion at the retreat?
Great minds! Nicola will be joining us for the Gala dinner and will be doing Debbie’s colours on the first “free” day 😊
I had mine done years ago and I’m a ‘blue spring’. I’m still searching for the effortless capsule wardrobe!
Nicola can definitely help with that. I'll be creating the Retreat Facebook group this week and we can talk about exactly what to book (if anything) :)

Loved this video - very exciting! Does Nicola have a UA-cam channel or instagram?
Thank you :) I've listed to Nicolas website in the description :) She doe indeed have an instagram instagram.com/_allabouttheoutfit_/
@@KittenishBehaviourSian Thank you, she looks so familiar but I just can’t work out if I’ve seen her before or she reminds me of someone else!! 🤷♀️😂
So… have you started any of them yet?
Yes!!! Feeling very smug! ;)
@@KittenishBehaviourSian yay!

I think Nicola is the most stunning beautiful creature I have ever laid eyes on 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 What a babe 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️
Totally agree and she is absolutely lovely too :)
This is the waffly video I needed to end this day
I love all your Jackie dressesnice that a new one will be in the making for 2024
I've actually tried on in a solid and I'm not sure I love it BUT I do have some pretty kind prints in the stash that are screaming to be Jackie's! ;)

Looking forward to seeing how this all pans out over the course of the year! 🦚🔵🧵
