Love how easy it is to take the bZ4X on a road trip. From the smooth driving experience to the efficient charging, it’s a great EV for anyone looking to travel without the gas worries!
It’s the same cost at 50 cents per kWh but if you round trip from home probably 70% savings in the BZ 4x. There is no “ home gasoline” at $1.05 gallon. Safe travels.
If you’re new to electric vehicles, the Toyota bZ4X instructions will be a huge help. They explain everything clearly-from using the regenerative braking to setting up charging stations.
We own a bz4xAWD and a new Defender … because combustion cars are incredibly expensive in Austria/Europe we pay about 2000 Euro a year only tax to run it. The Defender is made in the EU so they sell it because the tax is about 50% you can’t buy a Bronco, 4Runner…. The bz is loaded in our home garage 11kw per hour 22cents per kw there are charging facilities at modr shops up to 350kw per hour, our bz takes 100 per hour there (we rarely use that) it costs 55 to 65 cents per kw. We love our bz it’s a great car even if we are forced to drive electric! Greetings from Austria
I drove from San Francisco to seattle round trip in my BZ4X FWD. About 1400 mi. Started the trip with a full charge. The first 4 charges were able to fast charge to 80% at over 100kwh. The last 200 miles, I was only able to fast charge at 40+ kwh to 50%, then a sharp decline in charging speed the longer I drove. I dont know if its because of the weather or the batteries were running too hot to fast charge. The weather ranged from 32-45F. The worst leg was in the mountain pass, 32F and only 100mi range at 80% with heat on. I was averaging 75-85 mph. Luckily there were plenty of charging stations along I-5. This was a last min weekend round trip, only stopped to charge. over night in Seattle and headed back to san francisco. Ive rolled up to the charging station with 3% 6 miles twice on the trip. I always put 20-25 miles buffer between charging stations. I got significantly better MPG/ kw/m (2.8kw/m) while using adaptive cruise control and got closer to the guess-o-meter predicted range.
Wow! Sounds like it’s good to road trip with the bZ4X. I am doing a trip in May and hope to see what the limitations are. I do know the fast charging is limited to 3 or 4 sessions per 24 hours to protect the battery pack. Thanks for commenting and sharing your experience!
My 2024 BZ4X XLE AWD has a different layout on on the front display, the charging port door looks different, the climate control display doesn't change colors. What's going on there?
Thanks for the video! I just got my 2024 bZ4X and love it so far. I’m having trouble registering my EVgo account in the Toyota App. Was that necessary for me to do to take advantage of the free year, or does it automatically know that you get a year free. Thank you for any feedback.
Congrats! You have to have the same email address for both your Toyota app and the EVGO app plus you have to have a card on file with EVGO before it’ll sync and be free. They do that in case they need to charge you idle fees.
@@tyhend88 Thank you! That worked immediately. I had logged in via Apple on the Toyota App and used my email address on EVgo. I had to update my email to the one I actually use and not the generic one Apple creates for you.
It can do up to 150kW DC but the best I’ve seen is 135kW DC. It can charge at Tesla Superchargers that have the Magic Dock built in. As of now it cannot use an adapter at Superchargers. I hope it’ll happen in 2025 but not too sure.
The AC does run and you can put it in Room Mode so it uses the charging station power instead of the battery. The AC in the bZ4X is the coldest I’ve ever felt in a car!
It blows my mind that it doesn't automatically route you to chargers. That's almost a dealbreaker for me. I don't want to hope that I have cellphone service to find a charging station if I'm somewhere without service. That's the worst time to be looking for a charger.
I agree! Especially once my subscription runs out I have to pay $15 a month to keep remote started and nav that doesn’t route me to chargers. It’s a shame. However, I plan to use A Better Route Planner app when I do a long trip in May.
I got a bZ4x XLE, and I get up to 280 miles in a mixed driving (city/highway) scenario when not using air conditioning. With AC and driving highway only at 70 mph it’s less - like 220 miles.
My commute to work is 45 miles round trip. Mostly highway. I set the cruise at 68mph and let the adaptive cruise do the work. I also do use the one pedal drive.
I am loving it so far! It's an amazing feeling bypassing the gas stations. It's $3.59 a gallon here so I am saving a ton! I leased it. I would not finance it at MSRP. I leased mine with the $16,250 lease rebate. I plan on doing a video explaining how my lease worked out.
I love the fact he just kept charging while his wife kept shopping. For me that would have definitely been the most likely scenario. No way my wife comes out the store in less than 45 mins...
And if you wouldn’t have sat leisurely at the EVgo @ $0.50/kWH and we’ll past how much you needed to get home you could have saved another $5 or so at a much lower at home rates.
Having electric vehicles is if you don’t have charging stations in your home is wasting money. It’s not for long driving. Don’t listen UA-camr they get paid to. Better to invest your hybrids
It depends where you live on the planet. We don’t have nuclear power in Austria 🇦🇹 wind and water power stations nearly everywhere and most homes have solar power panels. This is the way Europe chooses if it’s right we will see. We have no decision …. for the nature. For independence from the east this decision is clear
I think it is the perfect car for anyone that does not need more than 150-200 miles of driving range daily. Why pay for 300-350 miles of driving range if you don't need it? Let's be honest, other than the low range, what is wrong with the car? Looks is a subjective thing and when it comes to quality, no one tops Toyota. BTW, I am not a Toyota owner.
It’s encouraging to see the 2024 bZ4X handling a road trip so smoothly.
It was a great time! Thanks for commenting!

My man is rocking the cargo shorts. Gotta love it.
I wear them in winter too hah thanks for watching!

wich app do u use?
I used the EVGO app for this charging session.

How fast can it charge at a DC fast charger? And can it be charged at a Tesla supercharger? With an adapter ?

Is that a FWD or a AWD version? I've got the AWD version and fastest DC charging speed I've seen is 90 kWH.
FWD. yeah the charging speed was a big factor in me getting the FWD.
Does the A/C run while you are charging the car? Is it nice and cold?
The AC does run and you can put it in Room Mode so it uses the charging station power instead of the battery. The AC in the bZ4X is the coldest I’ve ever felt in a car!

What I forgot to say there is no tax on electric cars and you get 3600 from the community when you buy a new one
Ah okay!

Just the EVGO app.
how do you average at 4.1kwh/mile? mine doing the best at 3.6
