    looking forward to an actual physical presentation of the table. The layout looks decent enough, and the thought of having real objectives is a plus. But you're right, looking at those flippers reminds me of my old Tommy tabletop pinball toy, haha. Only time will tell, and still pretty excited about this little pinball machine. Thanks Bee!

    Great video! I am really looking forward to this and trying to set my expectations low so I am not disappointed. lol I think the flap door on the right ramp is actually a spinner.

      You got it - that is in fact a spinner. Camera angle foreshortened that a bit so hard to tell.

    I like this rendering alot. The acrylic to wire ramps remind me of the Stern Pro’s with upgrades. Looks like a spinner connected to the right ramp.
    I’m really interested in this product.

    If this thing performs and delivers at an actual affordable price, I don't care about the cost cutting efforts like smaller balls. I couldn't pull the trigger on an A1UP or AtGames machine because they just don't offer the same experience as an actual pinball machine. I want a pinball machine in my home arcade, but will never be able to justify a Stern... Really excited and will keep my fingers crossed for Wonderland Amusements. This play field looks great!

    That's a good point, we don't just want points we want to play a game. I also agree with you, probably not the intention but viewing the render it looks like cheap plastic. CES is right around the corner and we should see something more promising. Appreciate these guys trying to share what they can for now

    Layout actually looks quite solid! If this plays like a legit pinball machine instead of those Zizzle things I could see this doing really well.

    Kongs,
    I don't know if this is just for those who haven't played pinball. I love real pinball. I love virtual pinball. Heck, I even love toy electronic pinball, you know the ones you sit on a table that also hit around a ball with flippers. I've never found it odd switching between these pinball categories if the experience is good. What's most important to me is simple. Is the experience itself fun?
    Playing Pinball over the years, to me, hasn't been about justifying a "good" Pinball experience based only on full sized real machines. I think that's also why I never fathomed having a Home Arcade before Arcade1Up came along. I didn't require gold standard heavy commercial grade Arcade machines to legitimize what I loved. I just needed something that gave me a great feeling. Now, of course it still has to be good, I haven't fully recommended many 3/4 scale arcade cabinets in my reviews, but making something that can bring the same joy as the original concept is where I think it's at.
    Different or cheaper doesn't necessarily equate to less. Take my Arcade1Up Atari Star Wars for instance. If you were to offer me the choice between a free full sized and mint, commercial grade Atari Star Wars machine, or my Arcade1Up version, I'd choose my Arcade1Up. Don't get me wrong, I think the original arcade machine is much better built, and I love it as well, it's my favorite arcade game of all time, but I'm simply not interested in owning commercial arcade machines, due to their size, weight, and often specialized maintenance they require. If you asked me which one I preferred to play on, this is where the magic happens. Arcade1Up's version is SO GOOD, that I would be happy to play on either equally. And though that may seem weird to some, it's a testament when a good product is created. Now if you asked me if I'd rather play Attack From Mars on my Arcade1Up, or on a real machine, real machine all the way, even though I wouldn't want a real Attack From Mars pinball machine in my house.
    So, I have to ask you the question then... Wouldn't it be cool if this new Wonderland Amusements machine gave you the same kind of joy as your Stern Godzilla? I'm not saying it's going to have the same build quality, code, or whatnot. But what if it gave you that same great feeling? Could they both co-exist as great experiences in your eyes, or would Stern Godzilla negate that?
    I think your commentary in this video is great. You provide valid thoughts and concerns based upon your personal real world experience in the Pinball machine hobby. And though I like the concept Wonderland Amusements has brought to the table, it of course also needs to be good.
    If you would've asked me back when I started building my Home Arcade if I would've purchased something like this Wonderlands Amusements machine, I would've given you a resounding yes. Pinball has been a HUGE part of my life, and in fact, it was the first mechanical gaming machine I ever played on. But today, even if this new smaller machine ends up being awesome, I don't see myself buying one. I just don't have the room, nor want to make new room, to add more physical 3/4 scale machines in my house. I'm pretty content where I'm at. To expand my Home Arcade now, I do it twofold. First, by modding my existing machines, which is crazy, because I prefer not to mod, and second, by adding miniature replica arcade machines from New Wave Toys and Numskull.
    Thanks SO MUCH for sharing this new information! Exciting times!

      Great feedback and commentary VGV! I think people will naturally compare this to a full size pinball machine, but this will be one of the most unique things to come out in the pinball hobby so it may be in a class of its own eventually. I do have hopes that they can produce a fun experience like you said, but there's so many things that make a pinball game great. This has a lot of the basics, so hoping this is successful so they can continue making even more pins with even more innovative layouts!

    This doesn't look terrible, but there's definitely a lot of questions. What materials are used, in particular for the playfield, is critical. But the actual playfield design itself definitely has potential.

  • @AmigaCammy
    @AmigaCammy 2 місяці тому +2

    A 3/4-sized ball means all the electrical components only have to be half as strong as a real pinball machine because they also only have to move it around a 3/4-sized playfield. A full-size ball would have required more heavy-duty solenoids and things would get much more expensive quickly at that point. It's funny how you're complaining about how you're going to have to get used to it... like kids got used to playing Sonic after playing Mario, like we got used to playing Mortal Kombat after Street Fighter... it won't take long to get used unless there's something wrong with your brain, I mean it usually just clicks, you know.

    • @KongsRUs
      @KongsRUs  2 місяці тому +1

      Great points Cammy! I've played a few games with smaller playfields and mini pinballs and those never shoot well IMO. So I hope this smaller ball will still roll and feel similar to a Normal sized pinball. Maybe if they keep the playfield angle more shallow, they ball will have a chance to float more, rather than playing fast.

    • @AmigaCammy
      @AmigaCammy 2 місяці тому

      @@KongsRUs I don't think it'll be easy making it feel exactly like a full-size machine, although full-size machines can also feel pretty different to each other depending on the era and of course the playfield angle, but maybe these guys can pull off something that feels good enough. There are boxes piled up around them at the moment but when I get access to them I'll take some footage of the two 3/4-scale pins I have here. Their playfields are roughly the same size, but the ball in one of them is quite a bit bigger and heavier, and it definitely feels better than the little one which tends to "fling" more.

  • @TheGamingHoser
    @TheGamingHoser 2 місяці тому

    I can't help but think they need to use normal size balls. Maybe flippers too. The small ball and flippers will make aiming hard. They could keep the same shot layout dimensions and I think it would shoot better with a full sized ball vs attempting to aim a 3/4 sized ball with small flippers. They should re-think the open pop bumpers section.

      Yeah man, these are going to get repetitive real fast... and the worst part is, you won't be able to add more tables like a virtual pinball cabinet. The only way they can keep this thing under $1k is if it's going to be made cheaply using a simple design. I predict seeing many of these on the marketplace after the initial honeymoon phase is over, assuming they actually release them.

    I can see a couple of issues with the kayout. That little mini orbit on the right is not accessible from any flipper so what is the use?. The inner orbit at the top is mono directional. Would have been better if it can be accessed from both directions....

      @ $9000 for a family guy?!??!??? lol what in the world were you thinking? You got got. No wonder you’re salty about pinball machines. Family Guy isn’t even that good…agreed it is pretty funny. ‘Hehehe I said ball’ won’t ever fail to make me giggle. But Deadpool has the same line, and better, so get that one.
      Most of the time I’ve sold machines for about the same or slightly more than what I’ve bought them for. NIB you lose $1000 or so depending but if you’re smart about buying used games you should be able to break even or trade for a new game of equal or more value pretty easily. Not with a $9000 family guy though lol. I’d honestly recommend just cutting your losses and selling or trading it. Trading pinball machines is really fun.
