It always felt like Wario was a last minute addition to the game. Of course Mario has to be in it and he’s the only that can wall jump. Luigi can walk on water, hover and do that broken ass backflip. Yoshi can do the flutter jump, throw eggs and has the choice of becoming any of the other characters when he enters a course. Wario just punches really hard and a majority of the stars tailored to him is just “break the black bricks lmao”. It’s nice to actually have Wario in a main series Mario game, quite rare for him but the man deserves better.
I think Wario was there from the Super Mario 64x4 times. The problem with him is that almost all enemies in the game are defeated from one hit so there's very little room for his strength to shine That, or he's intended to be a Hard Mode of sorts
Apparently, it was also silent on Twitch. It's probably not the background song as well, since the tune's still the same after 12:00. Either Dan sang something really well, or Twitch fucked something up.
Something I wanted Dan to know, you're one of if not my favorite streamer with some of the best Mods and community I've ever encountered. Always very chill and relaxing and a great sleep aid. I've been backed off in the past by mods who got mad about me commenting on every "ghost" clip a streamer was watching for Halloween (specific rules for this stream had not been set and notedly my comments varied depending on the clip, content, etc. Mostly I was just noting clips that'd been actively de-bunked and throwing out my two cents in response to some folks). Mods DMed me and frankly got mad I was noting this stuff and even after I explained my stance (and clarified I WAS enjoying the stream not simply trying to hate) and the mods did back down, their snap to backing me off with threats of time outs rather than beginning a brief discussion to view my stance on something that wasn't against the chat's rules left a sour taste in my mouth and I've since never returned to that creator's streams, which does make me sad because I LIKE the creator, but refuse to deal with their staff. That is something, even going back to the TF2 days I never saw with Dan's staff or Dan himself. He's professional, polite and a joy to watch no matter the content. Admittedly some games are not to my taste but that's the GAME not Dan. I'm glad to see your content hasn't slowed or stopped and I'm glad you're still having such a good time making things you love. I remember WAY back in the TF2 days you'd expressed wants to branch out and despite the push back I'm SO glad you did. Happy Christmas Dan, Happy New Year and Thank you for making such wonderful content. I look forward to many more years to come :)
I feel like Dan would love dragon quest. Its like if final fantasy didn't take itself so seriously and had even more of an anime design style. To each their own but I've always enjoyed both, but dragon quest is usually easier to make it through and wrap my head around.
In spite of this being a game I played a TON in my childhood and Earthbound being my favourite game of all time, I never noticed the silver bunnies' reference until this stream lol
To be honest, I am very nostalgic for this version of this game, but I do need to admit that there are some courses that got adjusted in silly ways (adding owls that just trivialize some stars), or are subjected to the repercussions of making the power-up box universal. But even so, I still love this game
I grew up with the N64 version of this, so it's interesting to see the differences between the two. Honestly, I'd find it frustrating to have to switch between characters for different stars, but at the same time it's cool that you see Luigi and Yoshi run around the castle and levels. (I was never a fan of Wario. he can stay out imo.) Somehow, even as an adult, I never minded the cloud secret level. However, I will agree that the Rainbow level in the same room is Hell on earth and Bowser could never create a hell scape to match the frustration of those fucking carpets.
Around the 1:50:00 mark Daniel talks about some of the complaints about the backseating policies on the channel, which I feel compelled to comment on. Namely, during his Sekiro playthrough, he asked chat about things he should go do before progressing further in the game and shortly after became angry with someone telling him about the bloody cave (the one with the headless ape). I’m personally confused by that behavior since it was not unprompted. My memory of exactly how it went down is a bit hazy and I only saw it through the vod channel, but I remember wondering if the chatter was spamming, if Daniel was just being inconsistent, or if I was being an idiot and having something go over my head. I’d love to know what was actually happening there but as things stand I can’t help but feel like the aggression towards that chat member was unwarranted and that the act of backseating upon request turns into a roll of the dice as to whether Daniel receives it well or responds with hostility. Don’t get me wrong; I love the man and his content but this sort of thing is what keeps me sticking to vods and avoiding actual livestreams even though I’m following on Twitch - chatty viewers seem to occasionally get chewed out for reasons I can’t really discern and I can’t tell if it’s a matter of missing context (such as rude phrasing), my own weak sense of social awareness, or if it really is just the streamer in question being the arse.
Someone was trying to spoil the cave repeatedly for me, so I did not want to go there. I specifically asked other than the cave a few times too, but there was a chatter or two who got particularly upset and sour about the experience
The thing with the backseating rule, I think, is that without clear 100% explicit instructions, a lot of auDHD folks struggle (the number of times I've been kicked from discord servers for breaking vague-ass rules like "use common sense" and "act as if you were face-to-face with people" like??? (also the number is 3. At least they have real rules, now. However, I've stopped joining discord servers)). Which is why people complain when you make exceptions, to be clear. I've noticed you're excellent at consistency with your backseating/spoiler rule. Okay now that that's out of the way, I'm loving this. Thank you so much, to this channel. Because of y'all I can actually watch the streams, even though not live. I appreciate you so much. Seriously, thank you
Super Wario 64 DS. Weird how the Stream Archive channel has the name wrong, forgot the DS, flipped the W to an M, and doesn't even have the "Miku" part in it! Funny that RT mentioned the copyright thing in the first VOD and it happened to this VOD's intro mario 64 ds's yoshi long jump sound effect is "Yobi!" or "Yubbi!"
This game was a favorite of mine growing up; I'd play after a shitty day at middle school to decompress lol. Awesome to watch you play through it too! And yeah I definitely remember this taking way longer than 10 hours but i was super shitty at games back then lmao
at one point i was thinking how i would like to go back and get every star on this game. after watching this, i think i'm probably alright with not doing that
Didn't he end the previous stream with 76 stars, not 81? EDIT: After Dan rolls the credits in the last stream, he collects another five stars before _actually_ ending the stream
More of a comment about the last stream, but I for one love playing as Mario. The games are “Super Mario” after all. Nothing against Luigi, but it feels like kind of a normie take to prefer him because of the amount of people that do lmao. When given the option, I’ll usually pick Mario

Thank you
Thanks!
Thank you ❤
Heads up: 9:00 to 12:00 went dead silent. Not sure if that's just my end.
Apparently, it was also silent on Twitch. It's probably not the background song as well, since the tune's still the same after 12:00. Either Dan sang something really well, or Twitch fucked something up.
Happy Holidays to you all!
What a great gift you have given us, thank you
Dan: Man y’all are so mean to Wario?
Dan: Why does the game make fun of Wario so much?
Also Dan every time Wario speaks: yEaH
Did the audio cut at 9:09 happen for anyone else?
It cut out at exactly 9:00 for me. It’s likely the twitch system falsely detecting something copyrighted and blanking that portion of the audio out.
9:00 - 12:00, yup

The DQ Builders games are also really fun as far as spin-offs go
Ironically, the term “uncle” is an Americanized variation of an Irish word “anacol,” which means protection or safety.

For as annoying as the Slide theme can get in actual levels
Good lord Rainbow Ride in utter silence creeps me out
funnily enough the concept of "fuck it, you fly the plane" isn't far off from something that happens in the book Airframe by Michael Crichton lmao

@@RTGame That makes a lot more sense. Thanks for clearing that up for me!
I go to sleep watching vods, and you'll never understand the emotion I felt I woke up to Luigi screaming MARIO over and over again.
It was horrific.
'Super Mario and his 'disposables' have done it again! :P

The wildest thing is how no one mentioned how many of the minigames returned in the New Super Mario Bros DS game!!!
