    Made this pork recipe for mother's day and everyone really liked it! A lot better than the local barbecue shops. The sauce flavor is better and the meat is juicier. Used pork shoulder but will try belly next time.
    Have been cooking your Cantonese duck recipe for our family gatherings, but think this will be our go-to from now on with the time saved and expense

    Prefer with pork belly. Used shoulder before but when used as a filling for Bao it got dry.

      True, in fact I cook this last night using the belly part, it's confirmed to be much more tastier compared to using the lean meat. Thank you Cici xoxo watching from Malaysia

    MORE FAT. ALWAYS.
    The crispy caramelizing of the sugar combined with that goey spongey fat makes a superior mouth-feel compared to when it's mostly meat. With a high fat ratio rendered down it's the best. It's like candy.
    The best places allow you to ask for a fatty cut and knowingly smile when they get it for you.

    I know some people do it with pork filet because there is less to no fat but I prefer whith some fat so I usually make it with the shoulder but I will try with belly next time

    Do I need to half the amount of cooking time if I only use 1lb pound of pork belly instead of 2lbs?

  • @Robwho58
    @Robwho58 2 роки тому +1

    If by leaner you mean pork shoulder, I prefer pork shoulder as it has just the right amount of fat for me without being to much. Yours looks delicious but pork belly is too fatty for me unless making bacon, then I love it. 😊

      Hi Cici, we loved the video. My marinade turned out much thinner than the video, are there any adjustments to the recipe? Or will substituting hoisin cause it to be much thinner?
