I love your vocabulary. I think someone who can communicate eloquently makes a great UA-cam artist. All the most successful artists who were filmed, could tell a story while they painted eg bob ross. Relaxing stuff, good job.
So cool. I had to stop in the middle to watch the "viral" one, and this I found more valuable and entertaining. I cannot wait to get home and draw some poplars.
Thanks for the video. First of your videos I have seen. Your show was recommended by the Google Algorithm. Some good techniques I have not seen before. A comment on your choice of paper: I see why you chose that type of paper. It does the job of getting the image you need on a peace of paper to be scanned and sent to a client, but I doubt that type of paper is archival quality, acid free, etc... The scratching technique I have not seen nor tried before, so I will have to experiment with that. The paper I have worked with is glossy, photo paper for computer printers. I will have to try your technique on this type of paper. Again, thanks for the video.
That is stunning work. Your fountain pen looks really nice and the nib looks lovely and consistent. I’m wondering what type of pen it is, it has some features that remind me of a TWSBI maybe with a medium nib? You probably said what it is but I may have missed it. Is it India Ink that you use or is it some other type of pigment ink? Thank you for your fantastic videos. I’ve been a viewer for a while, but it’s the first time I’ve commented on your videos. I loved the tree rings work that you did, it’s just mesmerising!
Hello! Sorry to get back to you so slowly . . . I did mention it, but that's alright. It's actually a fairly CHEAP pen put out by Jerry's Artarama, called "Pen and Ink Sketch". I also got the ink that they put with it-- by the same name. I've tried out quite a few fountain pens over the years, and am quite happy with these. Some are fine, and some are extra fine.
Dan Nelson thank you for the response. It’s so good when you here of supplies which do their job really well. Jerry’s Artarama seems to be a fantastic retailer, but there is no doubt that the US large customer base brings many advantages of more options that are available.
I love crosshatching...but what I really want to know is what music is playing in the background? I always have music playing in the background when I do art. This would be nice to have.
@@DantheArtMan Thanks. I'll look into it. I saw your trumpet (mouthpiece in the background). I play also, but it's hard to keep the chops up since I have been devoting more time to art, plus it irritates the dogs.

That is gorgeous cross hatching. Man, seeing competence like this reminds me I have a lot of practicing to...a lot....
Ha! Thanks. Just keep on going!
@@DantheArtMan I will! At least it is enjoyable😄
Watching your crosshatching 2013 video, my god it's so beautiful. Now I'm a subscriber
Incredible control
2021 and this is still amazing!
This was wonderful! I’ve just discovered you and definitely subscribed! Many thanks
I liked this. I liked how careful you were. You cracked me up with how you dealt with less than stellar commenters. I found that quite enjoyable.
Crikey! I'm impressed, Subbed.

THANK YOU DAN!!!! watching this in 2021 as a hopeful new artist.. thank you for this live stream in 2019
I admire your amazing work. I can feel your warmth radiating from this video. Glad I watched this during quarantine. 😊
Great work Dan! Just found your channel, and love to see more on cross-hatching and inking techniques 😃
So glad I subscribed to your channel. I really enjoy your demonstrations and tips. Looking forward to more. Thanks!
I've been practicing this for 1 week thus far for 1 hour a day. Hopefully I get to this level someday. His illustrations are top notch.
Thank you for the tip on the side holding grip to draw irregularities. It’s helping me out a lot. I love your style of hatching.
the craft must continue; teach the young; carry on traditions
Wow, this is amazing art!!!❤️

Dan, have you tried the Carbon Desk Pen (DP-800S)? Only $10 and it's incredible.
Thanks for letting me know! I will order one.
Resolution is so brutal

A pay a monthly prescription to a service called Epidemic Sound. This was a collection from their "Instrumental / Low Energy" collection.

Ha! Ya gotta get those dogs trained! (-: I TRY to practice every day. Don't quite make it.
