I didn't know Karan graduated from Arnab School of Journalism. Instead of having a meaningful conversation with the guest, he simply wanted him to endorse his preconceived notions. SHAMEFUL!!

All credit to gentleman from intelligence. Thappar tried his best to spin his words but the answers he gave exposed him very well. His statements “yes this is a way to look at it” tells it all
The interviewer came with a script and wanted it endorsed by the honorable guest in a hurried manner, kind of disrespectful. Well we can have some conclusions. Firstly, the Taliban were not created by ISI. Secondly ISI played alongside Taliban while RAW sided with the Northern alliance which certainly was openly helped by the CIA. Thirdly both the CIA and RAW had 20 years to achieve their goals and had enough resources and technology. The sudden collapse of the Afghan government is a clear failure of CIA and Pentagon. Soon the American people will raise this question. We may see some corruption stories in the US. Fourthly the Afghan rulers were never sincere and honest to the nation. The foot soldiers refused to fight for a corrupt regime. Lastly, the NATO members would never trust the US again. Except for the UK maybe.
It’ was very confused interview… the guest does not know much about Taliban, ISI and their connection … he is making assumptions with vague information … anyways I think it was a way to make Indian government and public happy …

Thoroughly enjoyed this interview. Although I believe some points needed more explanation and a few more questions could have been asked but still it was the best discussion on this issue I've heard. He honestly said the origin of taliban was for a good cause of ending extortions etc. He also honestly mentioned that ISI may not have been that much instrumental in fall of Kabul this time and much of it was due to low morale of ANA. Without a proper, not even circumstantial, evidence, he doesn't want to provide finite answers. And Make no mistake, he's an 'Ex' RAW..... Probably he's not well equipped with evidence now unlike how he was back in his day..... The person who spoke today is the mixture of Evidence, Experience and Analysis. 🙂
Each and every leader of every group even the ppl in the govt are always well connected to Pakistan even if they are speaking against the Govt of Pakistan because of some policies. Hamid Karzai also lived in Pakistan. Even today his relatives are here in Pakistan. Same is the story for other Afghan leaders. We have a very deep connection, just like brothers who sometimes even fight agressively but at the end of the day sit togather and sort out everything.
Know the difference between obsession and facts. People all over the world need to know the truth. Both USA and Pakistan are responsible for the current refugee crisis in Afghanistan. And the corruption of Afghan government too. I don’t care about what politicians and powerful governments do or say. But people suffering is a humanitarian problem and therefore it concerns us all. FYI These journalists are not Indian government friendly therefore it’s not government propaganda. This is critical thinking that needs engagement of everyone’s brains. Only then solutions can be found. More chaos means more disturbance. Nobody wants that.

it is so irritating when Karan Thapar keeps interjecting and does not allow Mr Banerji to complete. We are interested in expert talking and not interviewer. Please dont treat audience as dumb and seek clarifications every 30 seconds.
Haha it's a quick-paced interviewing style which is his signature. He does not fawn over guests like fanboys "omg you were from raw, now you keep talking, i will just drool and make air kisses".. karan is mostly hated by people who ardently support the present day bjp. Besides that his guests dont seem to have a problem with the style.
Would love to audience another program, where perhaps you fellows can talk about how RAW cooked butter chicken down there for twenty years & Since it's all bloody over please leave no khulbushan behind in your yaps.
I thought I'll learn a thing or two but this interview like shooting darts in the dark. For starters Bannerji is treating the Pashtun tribal hierarchy like the Hindu caste system, which is simply laughable. Secondly , Afghan Taliban are portrayed as having no brains if their own. There is no nuance here, as in how Pakistani Pashtuns in the Army and ISI have an incomparable understanding of the ground situation and reality. Either R&AW sitting 1000s of miles away iss taking random guesses and connecting invisible dots, or this interview is a deliberate attempt to portray ignorance and mislead those watching that RAW knows nothing about what goes between ISI and the Taliban. The cluelessness is comfortabing to watch but should be treated as a deliberate ploy.

@saurabh grover. The best person to ask about is former ISI major retired Amir. He was the contact person of ISI with taliban & other groups in Afghanistan. Just a few weeks ago he gave an interview to a Pakistani journalist, which he uploaded on his youtube channel. That was the most detailed insight & now this person is telling the same thing with some lesser extent which he didn't knew just a few weeks ago. 😂😂😂

@9:42 Rana Banerji clearly mentioning "the refugee camps" along the borders of Afghanistan and Mr. Thapar twisted it and repeated "found sanctuaries". The learned journalist can differentiate between the two. What a shame and the disgusting role he is playing here, not only putting his words into the guest's mouth and also twisting what the RAW officer is sharing.

Singling out ISI is ridiculous. What are other secret agencies like CIA or RAW have been doing in Afghanistan? Were they there for humanitarian work?
He is absolutely right on the part how it founded. It is becos lawlessness.
Banerji Babu is a great story-teller. They don't make people like them anymore. Enjoyed this one.

I should appreciate the intel guys professionalism and unbias in the answering. He did not malign taliban just because he doesn't subscribe to their ideas amd values. This is rare to see in India. He honestly said the origin of taliban was for a good cause of ending extortions etc. He also honestly mentioned that ISI may not have been that much instrumental in fall of Kabul this time and much of it was due to low morale of ANA. The initial explanation was good and believable but after that the guest is himself not confident about the details he's providing.
Wrong!!!!..... It's not about his confidence..... It's about the credibility of the info he's providing..... 🙂
A very clear and concise and easy to understand English discussion
Each and every leader of every group even the ppl in the govt are always well connected to Pakistan even if they are speaking against the Govt of Pakistan because of some policies. Hamid Karzai also lived in Pakistan. Even today his relatives are here in Pakistan. Same is the story for other Afghan leaders. We have a very deep connection, just like brothers who sometimes even fight agressively but at the end of the day sit togather and sort out everything.
The problem is no one has precise details. 👏👏👏👏👌 that's how Markhor works.
“Pakistan”, is undoubtedly the most spoken word in this video.
Guys you’re obsessed with us.
