Thought I'd post a comment as to why the run is almost sub 17 now! The Devs updated the game last night and added a bed to the train tracks, which I'm almost 99% certain was done for speedrunners since it was a very boring part that just consisted of holding W. This bed saves a tiny bit over 1 minute which really adds up when spamming resets. The Boat skip (or "Stowaway Skip") that is done was found a few days ago by myself just randomly trying things since I was bored of riding the boat. This glitch is NOT the same as the one that takes you to the end of the game from the beginning. You clip yourself into the back of the boat, and by jumping at a specific time, you store momentum and can release it flying out of the boat to the next area. I spent like 20-30h testing this, so I'm glad it can actually be done consistently.
Crazy what you do. I just finished the game using a few skips I learnt from you and some other runners and damn did it feel amazing to finish it. Felt so proud of myself for not giving up. I went back to the store page to look at the recent reviews since the update (which are much better) and had a glimpse at the trailer for the game, and man I missed so many beautiful parts of the game by just trying to skip through it and get to the top. Reminds me to enjoy the journey in life and not focus to much on getting to the end but rather enjoying the journey up. Even if I fall many times and want to die. Lets go sub 15.
Hitting ship skip is the ultimate gigachad move. My man Distortion grinded ship skip for 30 hours when everyone told him he was crazy, “it’s too inconsistent” etc. He kept going and started getting more consistent and started hitting it in actual runs. He was able to put everything together and beat world record by 37 seconds. Now everyone else will be forced to learn ship skip if they want to compete. Absolute legend Edit: He just PB’ed again 17:04, absolutely incredible
I got Only Up today, and have spent 6hrs battling the conventional map just to get about half way up. So to see this.. absolutely mind blowing, I have no clue how you’ve got so good at this.. a lot of practice for sure, but some unbelievable short cuts and ways to speed run this. GG sir, well earned WR.
Of all the speed runs I look at, yours are the cleanest and above all, the most credible. The others do not show a camera, they are not heard, they are not even known who is playing. You even the keys you press shows. W speed run Congrats!
@@ActiveFire533 nope, this is any%. Many of those major skips use Glitches. Glitches are allowed. The Champagne bottle uses a glitch that double launches off it, for example. Some glitches are restricted, but its usually just the ones that skip the entire majority of the map.

Devs have apparently helped a bit. I know they've added at least one bed that cuts out like a minute from the run. I think the Waifu skip skip is also faster as well.

@@kiwikillerz8119 chat was unbearable this past week. Not all but mostly new chatter and people that new to speedrunning. The worst part is during the boat skip testing, chat kept pressuring him to the run and say the skip is useless. Good call on enabling the sub-only since dist cannot resist reading chat everytime and the one chat he read always the bad one KEKW. I'm hoping more people will understand the "practice" and "testing" part of speedrunning more
As a Chinese, I'm very happy that distortion got the record back, those brainwashed patriots Chinese player and fans ruined the Chinese speedrun community for me, they treat this like a fucking cold war or something instead of just enjoying watching people beat records like a challenge.

I can't believe he made five mistakes and still got WR! He's gonna be the first to hit 16:5X! Nobody else is getting the boat skip down this well! He just needs to hit the bed to blimp better and he will get it! Watching you guys take the WR from eachother daily in this game has kept this game ignited with viewers! They've made so many of these ONLY GO UP games in the past year and for some reason this one is different! Don't know why, but it has really brought the speed running community together and I'm here for it! 😊

This whole game gave me flashbacks to a literal dream I used to have FREQUENTLY as a kid growing up. The level design and all the themes incorporated into it just.... Unlocked fringe "core" memories from my childhood that I still hold dear.

yea it's also new exploits being found every time. pretty much every WR is because of a new skip
but game itself changed as well its not that they cut off 4 minutes off those paths on 21 minute rounds
