How I Built My New 2022 Desk Setup for Investing! | Productivity Workspace

  • This is an overview of how I built my productivity desk setup for 2022. I started from a completely empty room and show how I added all the pieces together as they arrived from different suppliers. As I plan to mostly use my desk for productivity and researching for investing purposes, I wanted a completely different feel to conventional desks. In particular, a portrait monitor is important to me which is the main standout when people see my desk.
Also making youtube videos is an important part of my day as well, so items like a microphone boom arm and smart RGB lighting are also neccessary. Of course this is still a work in process and I will defintely most updates as other long lead time items arrive. (Waiting for my acoustic foam!)
None of the items were sent to me and I purchased all items by myself. I've linked the items below if you are interested in purchasing anything for yourself. 3 items are affiliate links and marked clearly for transparency.

I too like how you showcased cheaper alternatives contrary to most. Ergonofis look amazing without a doubt but the price is a big no no. And, the fact you build your own is both admirable and inspirational -- especially for people who either don't have the money or don't want to spent as much. Well done.

    Looks good man.
But definitely recommend putting the sub on the floor and not have things in front of the speakers. I know it's an old set, but you'd be surprised how much of a difference properly placed speakers can make.
The sub can interfere with your PC, which you have right below it.
It could even affect your mouse tracking as it vibrates the desk.

Awesome video, i just purchased my new sit stand desk from desky, i actually went and priced up all the parts individually from your links and it is definitely cheaper but because desky had a promotion on their desks right now i was actually able to buy theirs at a cost of only about $40 more then buying all the parts, if it wasnt on sale then id definitely build one like you have. The only difference was the cable management tray and 8 plug adapter which did cost me more. But i found your recommendation of that desk pad really nice so i literally just ordered one for my new desk. Looks really aesthetic.
Great in depth video, well done :)

Thanks Corbin! I think the tabletop price has gone up since I bought it but Desky's promotion sounded like a good one if it was only $40 more expensive! Good luck with the desk pad, you'll enjoy that it has a grip on the bottom so it doesn't slide around!

I do some wood working projects on the weekend and def not a professional but groove made charging 300 plus for the monitor stand is insane. I haven’t look at the quality up close bc I’ll never buy one but it seem like it’s plywood vs a solid piece of lumber. I am with you build your own on this one. Pro tip buy oak stair tread from your Home Depot and the will cut it to your desired dimensions then cut add the 2 inch dowels for leg. stain it and it only cost 30 bucks

Nice vid! I actually have been getting my desk setup. I have the exact same desk frame- I've been happy with it. The computer tower mount for under the pc is a great idea because right now mine is sitting on the desk and it takes up a lot of space. It looks like your pc is a bit tilted in the tower mount. Is that the case or can I straighten up? I was also impressed to see your makeshift desk lift for the monitor. I will have to look into that myself because they are quite expensive. The only issue I have is the Keyboard. I've used the G512 previously and it broke within 1 year and 2 months. The problem is the thin plastic stems that connect the keycaps to the switches are very weak and they will break very easily due to the design of the Romer G switches. This is whereas other switches like Cherry have thick solid stems. So yea, watch out for that. Suggest don't be as heavy a typer as me! lol

Great video, it may be a personal preference based opinion but by getting a dual monitor mount it would give the monotors room for variation so you could test your prefered layout. another thing i recommend is moving the bass box/ subwoofer to the floor as when playing some bass heavy noise it may rattle the desk or even effet your pc which is right beneath it. a perfect spot would be infront of your chair up againts the wall. and if your were ever up for hiding your cable to your power port i recommend a cable raceway. these arent important all just personal preference. Really enjoyed the video.

I got a fixed desk that's robust they dont make them this strong anymore all i will like to do is just add a bottom frame but only if its really strong enough to support about 300lbs this is what im looking for to im far lighter than that but I saw desks costing thousands that support this weight. I got a Anthro desk and you know the quality im talking about. At the time standing desks wasn't available for my 60inch.
