Honestly considering Greg has to live with Manny, I don’t exactly blame people for thinking he’d have went insane and became a sociopath even though Jeff Kinney denied that theory.

Bruh i hate how much the term sociopath is thrown around. You can't be a sociopath as a minor 🤦♂️the behavior has to continue into adulthood for you to be considered one. Sociopath is one of those terms that has lost meaning and is just used to describe anyone who is selfish

@@tristysstuff6664while it is unusual, it is still possible for a child to be diagnosed as a sociopath. Sociopathy is statistically rare.
remember that the book is from Greg's perspective, so he's probably exaggerating A LOT of this. especially when you read the Rowley book.
So Greg is full of self-hatred then, because he’s not nearly as bad in the movies, so he makes everyone look bad.
If he wanted to make stuff up to make himself look good he wouldn’t put in the stuff he admits were embarrassing or he was wrong in. When he writes one of his diaries he does so to write his own thoughts, not to convince someone of anything.
He can still be an unreliable narrator. Even when you're not a middle schooler, memory isn't reliable. @@legalza0843

I think Rowley secretly knows about Greg's true nature and is making Greg look even worse in his own books if Ghost Friend in the third Rowley book indicates anything
Maybe the real Diary of a Wimpy Kid were the friends we made along the way

I like the idea that the pig isn’t humanoid but it’s just Greg writing him as becoming humanoid because the pig was babied like Manny so they became like a sibling/new person in the family which makes it funny af. Sweetie wasn’t lucky enough for that treatment because they threw it to the grandma to keep lmfaO
The pig is apparently super intelligent, so Greg probably drew him that way to reflect it in his cartoony style.

I appreciate Greg and Rodrick as characters, though I would hate them if they were my brothers. Anyone in the Heffley household would drive me insane if I had to live with them to be honest.
growing up I was able to relate to greg in the sense that I had brothers that were almost exactly like Rodrick. It wasn't that bad
I have an older sister who’s exactly like Rodrick, and she takes pride in that. She’s insufferable to be around.
I have a mom like Susan and she drives everyone absolutely insane. In my case, to the point of suicidal ideation and alcohol abuse.

A Wimpy Kid:
I always just thought Greg was a middle schooler, they’re self-centered, that’s just part of their developmental stage. Middle schoolers are horrible, my middle school years were awful, I’m an adult and I’m still scared of them. Plus, he’s growing up in a dysfunctional family that basically ignores him because he’s the middle child and Maddie gets away with everything no matter how horrible he is. Rodrick and Greg probably take their anger of their parents and Manny out on each other because they can and their parents only care if they hurt Manny. It’s also an extreme, comical version of the birth order of siblings; the oldest tries to distance themselves, the middle child is ignored and the youngest gets away with everything.

After watching the video I now have a theory
If we only take the live action movies and the books into account, and the movies were what was actually happening, then the family grew up and is not an infinite time loop. Greg is simply writing the books and pretending he is still in middle school, probably for clout or smth idk I haven’t read these books in years
I dunno I never saw Greg as a "sociopath" he's just relatable. A middle school boy with an odd family trying to get on with life. He's got a lot of self esteem and self awareness and honestly, he seems like a cool person to be around for, at most, a day. He's a kid. Of course he's gonna do selfish things. Even when his friend takes all the blame for their terrible schemes and ideas, I feel like that doesn't make him evil. I mean, his friends and family are all weird and I genuinely thought only Greg was the regular one.
Even though Greg has his flaws, I do feel bad with how he’s treated and raised. Still, he’s had his bad moments too.
THANK YOU for being against the "Greg is a Sociopath" Theory. I've been saying for years that he's just a normal dickheaded middle schooler, but if he had a better homelife, wasn't being bullied, and went to therapy, I guarantee he'd be way nicer.

12:14 this is literally my mom. She moved far away from her siblings and dislikes that they have in fighting. But she's upset that me and my brother don't really talk. We used to fight each other all the time so it's actually an improvement. We just don't have anything in common and we've grown up.
