I carried that damn thing for 7 yrs, once I got it issued to me the 1st time every duty station after that issued it to me ...
Qualifying with it was fun though 👍
Fun fact : the m16a1 prop gun used by Al Pacino in Scarface was exact same prop gun used by Arnold Schwarzenegger in Predator.
Seriously?
It sure is. I had the privilege to hold that actual movie used gun. Somebody here in Boise bought it from a auction around 2013 for 60k when at the time a non movie version in full auto went for 30k. It was down at my local gun shop waiting for the transfer
@@isitwindy21 I remember years ago seeing a news article somewhere of it being for sale on auction. That’s where I learned it was used by both Arnold and Al Pacino I think the bid price at the time was only 35k$! I didn’t have that kind of money at the time 😭 😭
@@isitwindy21 Buckhorn?
Fun Fact Al Pacino had little to no experience with rifles. It was assumed he knew what he was doing and very badly burned himself with the 203.
Lets go Brandon. A machine gun in every house and a RPG in the basement.
I keep my RPGs propped up with lampshades and fake umbrellas.
I'm cool on the RPG after what happened to ballistic high speed. But yes on the machine gun
Remember people you might or might not be voting for this guy 😂
So don't forget about the milky moms. Uh... mommy milkers. Uh... no, hang on, the paper is blurred. Oh, Intl Mil Co! Sorry, my bad.
RPG is my conceal carry

My dad had an M16A2 with that same gorgeous model of M203 bloop toob when he went to Iraq in 2003. He absolutely loved that thing, and recently we worked on an AR build based on it as his christmas present.

That was the exact rifle I was issued during my enlistment. U.S. Navy Seabee 1987-1993. We transitioned to the M16A2 at my last duty station. Keep up the excellent content and my prayers are all I can offer for your campaign.

Only gays pay taxes.

I used to call overtime government money because I never saw much of that money. The more you make, the more they take...
@@alankeith7866 It's axtually crazy. My father is a self made small buisness owner, and makes about 60 an hour on average, but because of how high it is, amd the fact he is a buisness owner, he is taxed about 60%, and ends up making around 34 an hour. Nothing terrible for sure, but because of that, my wife and I, both blue collar workers, make more than them if we are put together. My father works 12-16 hours a day to make sure the buisness runs smoothly, and for all the work he puts in, he still makes less than my wife and I by quite a bit. Taxes are rediculous.
If this man isn’t going to be in office I don’t know who else would be able to do the job as badass as him

My platoon was range control at Ft. Irwin, CA in late 1990. My squad was at the 203 range when a company was supposed to shoot familiarization. They got lost and ended up not making to the range. At about noon, we were told to expend the stocks. 12 of us got to shoot a company's worth of ammo. We each got a case (12 boxes of 12 rounds - 144 rounds each) that we were able to shoot. It was awesome. At the old range they had old APCs and tanks at various ranges. It was literally and figuratively a blast. We had competitions to see if you could fire indirect, reload, and fire a second round direct fire and have the two rounds hit at the same time; we found it was very difficult, but possible. At one corner of the range, there was a disused port-a-potty. Our squad leader offered a day off for the soldier who could hit the port-a-potty. You've never heard laughter like our squad after that port-a-potty was blown into a million little shards of blue plastic.
So, in honor and rememberance of my squad and our day at the range, I nominate a port-a-potty as your 203 HE target.
Perfect!
The retweets trying to berate you for holding this in your Christmas sweater had me in stitches, dude. The things people choose to be enraged about never fail to amuse me. I’ve never bitten my tongue so hard my entire life. 😂

He has changed. He now owns an AR-15. His legitimacy has disappeared as this is a forfeiture of values. He should not be respected as a politician nor a content creator for this forfeiture. He must be boycotted until he posts a video shooting his ar-15 with at least 69420 RPG shells.

I had an AKM assigned to me when I was in Soviet Army 1986-88. I live in a blue state of MA, but donated to your campaign. Thank you for entertainment and good speed.
Did you get to see or shoot any AKM with launcher under the barrel? I know the Russian have some sweet launchers on their AKMs .
Why would you move to this god forsaken clown country?
Did you go too Afghanistan?
@@Jason_556 Hate to disappoint you but no. At that time 90% of Soviet Army were draftees. Free labor, barely with any military training.
@@TheJMan1K Oh no, couple of my classmates went. I was a political propaganda specialist assigned to anti aircraft battery. I was there when Matthias Rust landed on Red Square and when Chernobyl disaster happened. That morning we were south of it in field maneuvers.
The M203 was one of my favorite weapons from my Infantry Enlisted time. A bit of practice and you can put that grenade round through a window at a pretty fair range. The quadrant sight was more accurate, but made the rifle a bit of a pain to carry.. BTW, the heavier live rounds are much more accurate than the chalk round. AND, an M203 round doesn't arm until it travels at least 14 meters, usually takes a bit further than that to arm.
Hey man, you've inspired me to get more into firearms and the legislation surrounding them through your videos. I've learned so much since then and just wanted to say thank you. I plan on hitting up SDI to start gunsmithing. I'm super stoked for the ak-50 video in January! I've been following its design process and the fact that the v3 video is in January makes me excited since I turn 24 that month. Keep up the good work man! And good luck!
In 1996 I left the U.S. Army and joined the Illinois guard to attend college, when I got to my guard unit I was shocked to see that they were still using 16A1's and 1911's instead of the A2's and M9's I used in the 3RD ID.
As a further kicker I was issued the weapon in this video the 16A1/M-203 combo and ended up loving the damn thing!
USAF Afghanistan vet here. I was issued an M9 and the 4th ID had brand new Sig handguns with extended magazines.
And everyone says that us Chair Force guys get good stuff.
@charlesshelton7989 In 2002 my guard unit(Infantry) spent several months at Spangdahlem AFB Germany on force protection duty alongside the 52 SFS and those guys were actually envious of some of our gear.
Kinda sad actually.
While the Sigs are nice I've always sworn that the M9 was made for me because of how perfectly they seemed to fit my hands.
Admit you were only marketed as part of those things.
Thank you for your service

He has changed, he is no longer the AK guy, he owns an AR-15 now.
Fun facts:
On the set of Scarface, Al Pacino sustained 3rd degree burns on his hand after accidentally grabbing the barrel of his M16
Second fun fact, the M16A1 used in Scarface is actually the same gun used in predator from the same prop house.

Brandon, I love learning about all the different guns out there new or old but your sideways remarks are the best they crack me up that’s why I continue watching you but I do like learning about the in and out of newer and older guns
The M16A1 and M203 combo will never not be sexy
My all time favorite gun. I love the heatshield with the circles in it
It absolutely fucks… I love it
Started watching you recently and I can’t get enough of you 😊
Love your channel and content. Not trying to be a stickler but when the M203 is attached to any variant of the M16 the combo is deemed the M203 because it goes by the most powerful and destructive part of the weapon system. That's what we were told when I was in the Army back in the late 90s.
I wish you the best with your Congressional campaign and hope you win. This nation needs more reps that will protect all of our constitutional rights at every level of government from cities and counties to state and federal. Again hope you win.
couldn't they just name it something like m16-203? or even m16g (g for grenade launcher)? like that would be simpler to understand right
@@VictoryLlama I can understand where you're coming from. The reason being is that in combat (the officer or higher ranking non-com} may be leading a squad, platoon, etc. and not know who their 203 gunner is by name. So the commanding officer or non-com can issue an order for their 203 gunners to lay hate on certain positions if that makes sense. Also the M203 isn't going to attach to anything that isn't an AR platform so your 203 gunner already has a rifle to fight with. Back in the Vietnam War you had soldiers in squads or units that carried the M79 (the grenade launcher you see in T2) and a M16. The M203 was a stopgap between the 2.
@@samadams3660 oh I get it now, thanks!
I suppose that makes a certain amount of sense, given the M203 would be basically useless without the M16 platform it's designed to be mounted on.
When I was in the Army back in the 80's, I got to fire a whole freaking case of HE 40mm rounds. I was the medic assigned to our qualification range for the 203; they had opened a case of 40MM and used like 4 rounds out of it. Rather than go thru the pain in the ass of turning it back in we burned it up. I was a hoot. I always volunteered for range duty (as a medic) when we did quals it was a blast. LOL
I was my units armorer- We NEVER turned in unspent ammo. Fun thing is.... being the armorer? I was the one that got to burn it up. I was also the best shot in the Company. As I should have been- I had the most practice.
@@TheRagratusWhat's an M3E2 ?
I remember a time in regular Army where we had a bunch of 5.56 leftover.. we were *all* asking the sergeants if we could do burst (M16A2s).. they begrudgingly said yes after a couple minute safety briefing that included rehashing all the basics of marksmanship... it's like they thought we'd end up shooting the sky from just 3 round burst lol.
And yes that was fun.
Another time, basic at Ft. Benning, hand grenades. Ammo guy was like I'm not taking these back. So those of us who wanted to got to throw an extra couple nades until the truck was totally empty.
Good times.
This will always be the m16 to me. The venting holes and grenade launcher is iconic af.
It would be cool if they made that handguard for modern ar’s maybe they do I’ve never looked it up
@@Timcanniff311
The handgaurds are easy to get
And do mount to most ar barrels
They are just kind flimsy without the GL

@@overcast1725 i went through fort sill in 2018 and we went out and fired chalk rounds through the 203. and it is pretty accurate, its like watching a blue baseball move through the air
@@overcast1725 When? I went to Jackson in 2015 and we had a few M16A2s with M203s during the US Weapons course. A select few got to shoot live 40mms, and the rest of us fired 2 40mm chalk rounds to "qualify".
@@simplygarza8511 They changed it as of 2019 i think. It's to save money on ammo, so it's up to the unit to train their soldiers if need be. Combat MOS's do have to qual on the range with crew serve. I had a 6 by 2 contract, but only served two years due to medical reasons. The sad part is, is that i got to hold the 240, SAW, and all that, but never got to shoot it. I was a 91M Bradley Mechanic, so it makes sense to why I never got to play with the "cool" guns. Imma try to get back in and if I do, I'm going 11B or anything that can get me to shoot the most guns.
@@overcast1725 oh wow, y'all didn't shoot the M249 or M240 either?! That was my favorite part! Funny enough, I went on to be an 89B (Ammo) and considering how huge Jackson is, you'd think ammo for US Weapons would be a drop in the bucket budget wise... Each of us only got like a 30-50 round belt for each gun. That's wild to think about how much changed in such a short amount of time.
Hell, I was one of the last cycles to be issued UCP pattern ACUs, and one of the first to get the new black PTs. No wonder why new PVTs who reached my section looked at me like I was crazy when we talked about BCT 🤣
What about the AT4? Did you guys at least get to hold that? I assume y'all had M4s from week 1, as well. We had M16A2s. Qualed with M4s on day and night shoot tables, but only the best shooters in each platoon got to carry it the rest of the cycle.
Sorry to hear about your medical stuff. Shit happens, but at least you gave it a shot. Honestly, given the fact we're in "peacetime" since GWOT is over, you're probably better off not going back in anytime soon. Although if the US gets heavily involved with any of the new stuff popping off, that's also going to be a shitshow, too 🤣
At the very least go Air Force if you can. Or even the Army/Air National Guard. Anything lol. But good luck in whatever you choose

@10:00 - "This is going to be a LOT of paperwork" - Brandon
Brought shivers down my spine and tears to my eyes at the same time.
Fond memories of other people's "F" ups.
Carried one in the Army…very hard to keep clean…plus the plastic sights on the M203 seem to get warped all the time…late 70s ..1st and 18th FA. In Germany
One of my favorites when stationed at Ft. Bragg/82d Airborne in the 80's
Just got my first gun for Christmas, it was my grandfathers 1980 gold cup smith and Wesson, one of the most beautiful .45 guns I’ve ever seen
Love that iconic sound
Brings back some good memories...Security Police QRF back in the 80's...replacing the M79 for a MUCH better package.
One "range day" (required every 3 or 6 months) I put a chalk round inside an open top 55gal drum target at 440yards! Blew a pinkish cloud more than 30ft straight up, so everyone saw it! That range (reach-out and touch someone) was the magic of the 40MM in the M203)
Fun fact: There is nothing wrong with liking both the AR and AK.
I mean their creators didn't have an issue with it. and have been quoted on film as saying they like the other's gun.
I c u new.
Qouted? The like 3 hour video is copy pasted on here a fuckton
Usually a one way street, AK guys are spergs.
If I recall, the issue with ammo for the 40 is that each individual round requires a separate tax stamp, along with the wait time that comes with the stamp.
Yes $200.00 for each round you fire !
That is correct however the stamp for the rounds is/was only $5.00 not the insane $200.
Until the late 80's, 37mm anti-personnel rounds were common place, and not taxed. Then someone caught on, and anything anti personnel became a destructive device.
My favorite 37mm round was the Barricade Buster. Aim at lock set and the door just opened up.
Even the bean bags rounds were reclassified as anti personnel.
It's likely changed since 15 years ago, but I found it amusing that in CA you couldn't have a pistol grip on your semi rifle, and carry permits were only for rich & connected people, but permits for destructive devices were shall-issue. So no pistol grip or bayo lug, but an M203 was fine. "Curious are the ways of the magistrates."
I guess with an appropriate FFL you could avoid the NFA $200 stamps, but I'm not so sure about needing an FEL and a whole another heck of related paperwork.
@@svosin
Two things guaranteed in life, death and taxes.
You need not only a FFL, but a SOT to manufacture destructive devices. Having the SOT for a FFL also keeps the sale at a single FFL, not 2X transfers and the DD tax stamp.
I'd bet that if I were to audit the books at any agency that has a FFL to transfer firearms to their personnel, machine guns or destructive devices, that there will be items they can't account for, which would under the ATF's latest agenda, put them out of business.
great work as always good luck with the campaign man

When I was in the Air Force in '88 we learned on a nearly identical M16A1 with Toob. Our grips were a little different. In the Security Police Academy, we got to fire the M203 with neon orange powder rounds. Being left-handed, I both loved and hated this combo. You had to shoulder it off-handed because of the "sights" for the M203 mounted on the left side only. Kicked like a mule! But loved the 'Ba-Chonk' sound when it fired. Still to this day, I bet I can field strip and reassemble one blindfolded in under a minute. Loved loved loved that thing!!!

The m16/20” AR’s are my favorite rifles of all time. I have two and I adore them!
LOVE the videos you do!
When was active duty, Marine carried the M16A2M203 and had fun shooting it. I suggest to get the quadrant sights for the M203.
Had a blast watching this video. You made me remember back in 1985 in the Philippines. I absolutely tore up the range with one of these. There was a fifty-five gallon barrel set up on the slope of a hill. I hit it and every time the pieces landed I hit it again, until there was nothing left of the barrel. Thanks to all the tax payers that made that trip fun.

By far the most aesthetically pleasing M16 to date
I looked seriously into getting 40mm HE grenades about 20 years ago. I found a guy that could get them, but only by the case, so fairly expensive. Also, you're required to have an EOD guy with you when you shoot them. Apparently there are a lot of duds, especially if you're just shooting them at the ground or hillside. Then he has to go out and blow them up. I asked how much to hire such a fellow, and the answer was basically "a lot", because the guy literally risks his life on every outing.
They may not have been duds. The M203 grenades have to travel around 10 meters (about 33 feet) before they're armed to go boom.
@@damion9742 Regardless, if you plan to fire real HE rounds, you're required to have an EOD with you to destroy any duds.
@billstevens5277 i never said that you didn't. All I said was that some might not have been duds cause they didnt travel far enough to become armed.
Fun fact the Scarface gun did NOT have a M203 40mm launcher on it. It had a makeshift flare launcher (Cobray I believe) and was the same prop gun as the one in Predator. Look again at the movie posters, did you miss it? I managed to grab one of the LMT made 37mm flare launchers that Brownell's offered for a while and it is a dead ringer for the real M203.
My favorite M16. 20” barrel, carry handle, and rifle stock.

I've wanted an M16 a2 since I carried an empty one for a few months at a place called Parris Island. (Medical discharge, never got to shoot) The full auto versus 3 round burst Might just sway me to the older model. The setup you have there with the tube would be my absolute dream gun! (I'll settle for an ar-15. 😊)
Your Christmas day post on Twitter with this reminded me about my fun experiencing a m203 on Christmas. We were on deployment at the time and the schedule had us underway on Christmas day, so our captain to put us in the Christmas spirit authorized our GM1 to fire about 10 rounds "for training" off the side of the flight deck...and yes they were HE rounds that was bad ass to watch.
Im wearing a plaid shirt and I dig it.

Absolutely love the M16A1!! Especially with the M203 Grenade Launcher. Such a sexy combo! Crazy to see how flat the recoil is from the added weight to the front end. Another amazing video. As always, Lets Go Brandon!!! 🦅
💯💯💯yup, the weight helps absorb and mitigate the recoil. My StG-44 is heavy but since it shoots .22, recoil is nil. 😎👍
Back in the day I remember seeing a catalog with rounds for the 37mm for sale. C.S, different colors of smoke, star burst (different colors), boomer rounds. And the rounds were about $10 each. Now who knows how much they are if you can even still get them.
Theyre like 30 minimum and in pretty much all but six states you have to be law enforcement to purchase, but still possible to find and acquire.
Thanks now I gotta get one
I've always wanted one of those, ever since I first watched Scarface.
I’m wearing whatever you want me to wear. You’re one of only a couple channels I keep notification on for and this gun breakdown is a great late Christmas gift. The first time I shot it on full auto what absolutely blew my young mind was the fire rate. I squeezed the trigger and the mag was just gone but it became incredibly easy to learn how to control. I was a country boy used to shooting sks and mosin nagants lol and you had an 870 in your car not an AR. When I moved off to St Louis to further my career I can’t tell you how I wanted for that A1 back.
I carried one similar to that 203. I served from 1986 to 1993.
Your commentary is awesome. Keep up with all you do. 👍👍
This is always been my dream gun. I got a toy version on my 5th birthday it was my favorite toy. Everytime i see one brings back found memories of my childhood
I carried this for most of my time in the Army in the 80's. Lots of memories with that platform.
That M16 barrel shroud and the Trench Gun made me realize that barrel shrouds with swiss cheese vents are pretty fucking badass
Hey Brandon! I love your videos keep them up!
I had one of these on an ROTC FTX. It was seriously vintage, even in 2004. It did have the happy switch though which was very rad, and I was given some 40mm smoke. You just brought me back! hah
The M79 is the blooper we call the 203 the thoomper while the Mk. 19 is the thumper bumper
Thumper Dumper is my Natasha Nice cosplay stage name
@@Daves_Not_Here_Man_76 sorry, “thumper bumper”
Yo @Brandon just wanted to give thanks to you for all the badass videos this year you and the gang keep me and millions of others laughing and laughing here’s a day time beer cheers to you bro
I was issued one in 1992 in the Guard, after two tours in the Gulf.
Thank you for the positive comments on the M-16-A1! Looking forward to the AK 50 update and the 2024 year of the AK Guy.
He is no longer the AK guy, he now owns an AR-15 and should be boycotted for forfeiture of values.
It was and still is a very innovative platform. Most of the Vietnam Vets I know (in Australia) found it would jam a lot in jungle conditions. But it was shorter and lighter than the SLR so they still opted to use it a lot of the time.
This weapon is just so iconic and looks so badass!
One of best guns ever hands down
My favorite movie with the M16A1/ Toob combo? I was a U.S.Army 11B10 Infantryman 7/'80 - 7/'83. Did 30 months at Fort Wainwright, up at Fairbanks, Alaska. 18 months in the recon platoon of Combat Support Company 4/9 (Manchu). It was always fun to go to the range w/ the 203s. One beautiful spring day in '81 I got put on a 4 man detail to shoot up a bunch of 40mm HE that was expired (yup, they expire). We still had the old Gamma-Goat 6x6s, and had a cargo compartment of ordinance to "dispose of". Best day of plinking I ever had. We'd call out targets and see who could hit them. I couldn't believe Nancy Ray-gun was pay'n me to do it. I washed out of recon and they made me organizational armorer. I could sit in the arms room and handle an M16A1 (most were Harrington and Richardson) / Toob combo any-time I wanted. And I had 14 of them.
So that's my "favorite movie" w/ the M16A1/ Toob combo. Staring ME.
One of the most iconic setups, thank you for making this video. Every shooter game I play I always attempt to make this setup and hipfire it
