    Useful tutorial on front panel removal which I had to do recently as mine was rusted at the wheel corners. I had to ground down the replacement panel at the bottom to fit the clips for the spoiler properly. Aside from that, It's great to see these videos on a right hand drive M40. Appreciate it.

      Thanks John! I hope you got your new front panel to fit up right in the end. I've got a good condition spare I'm planning to put on when the car goes back together, this one was bodged up beyond belief haha. 😂

    Just catching up on all your vids. Really like the channel. My very first BMW I bought in 1990 was a 1987 2 door E30 320i in Zinnober red, chrome bumpers. I added a set of the silver BBS alloys. Absolutely loved that car. Traded it after 6 years to a guy as a swap for an Alpine white 1989 E34 535i SE Auto which I still have. It is sort of a project now, I have done lots of work on it, sills, jacking points etc. they rot similar to E30's. I am currently restoring a 1998 840Ci, which I have been on with what seems like forever! I am 70 now so really wondering if I will last long enough to see it finished! Anyhow, keep up the good work.

      Thank you Bob, really pleased to hear you're enjoying my videos!
      Sounds like you're a true enthusiast, and not to mention a man of taste. 😄
      Good to hear you've sorted the big stuff on the E34, very similar issues to E30's as you say, but equally worth taking care of. You see very few E34s these days, I always fancied an E34 touring as a daily driver.
      The 840Ci sounds like a very special car, I'm a fan of those too, hope the project is going well, don't let up! 👍

      @@SPANNERRASH Thanks for the good wishes. Motivation can be a problem. Unfortunately, I got quite ill in 2019 and couldn't face working on the car, and haven't really picked up pace since. I am not too bad now health wise, but generally can only do about 5 hours at a stretch, so hope to put some work in when it starts to warm up a bit as heating the garage is so costly now. I have completed 2 previous cars, my son's 2002 Astra SRi Turbo (which he still has) and a 1996 Golf GTi which I sold last summer. I painted both cars myself and they stood up to scrutiny at car shows etc. so if the 840 turns out as good then it will have been worth the pain!

    Good job Bro....I did the same thing....on the job learning...my valance was crushed on the passenger side so I had to hunt down a replacement....drove down to Ft. Lauderdale from Orlando and got one for $100.00....found it and picked it up in one day!

      Awesome thanks John, too many of the valances have taken a hit so they're starting to get hard to find. Sounds like you got a deal there, not surprised you jumped straight in the car! 😂

      Cheers Caleb! I'm not sure whether this valance is too gone or not thanks to that ridiculous repair it's had in the past. I guess I will price up a good second-hand one before deciding whether it's worth saving. 😁

      Thanks so much for the kind words Kevin! I miss the good old forum days when they were more active. Too much of it has moved to Facebook I think which is a shame as it doesn't serve as such a good bank of knowledge.

      @@SPANNERRASH Ah the least I can do for this gem of a channel, you'll have a white 318i copycat here 😉 Indeed it's a shame, as they say the times they are a changing. A good deal of firsthand knowledge is being lost.
      On the other hand videos like you are still going strong, helping the rest of us. Which is massively appreciated 😁

    • @SPANNERRASH
      @SPANNERRASH  Рік тому +1

      Snap! It's an M52B28, I think the perfect swap for an E30, on balance, for what I'm into anyway. 😀
      I'm still debating on how much attention to give it before fitting. It looks like a good motor, but always hard to know what kind of life it lived in the past. I guess I'll find out.
      You might get around to swapping yours first.

      Wouldn't count on it! I've not put the rear end back together yet, been dragging my heels because once that's done it'll be off to the welders. Ive needed time to save up some cash!

    you are doing this dangerously. using a hydraulic jack to support. you ought to be careful using jackstand. you never know that jack can juck collapse.

    • @SPANNERRASH
      @SPANNERRASH  Рік тому

      I really appreciate your concern, I would normally use axle stands, the car is currently on 4 despite the rear wheels being on the ground.
      On this occasion I did have help around who we're keeping a lookout for me. Plus that jack is way way over-speced for lifting this light BMW E30. 😂
      I certainly will take care though, thank you.
