Full Flight: Delta Air Lines B757-300 Seattle to Detroit (SEA-DTW)

- Hey guys! Welcome to another red-eye full flight video! In this one, I fly aboard a very long & skinny B757-300 on my way across the U.S. from Seattle, Washington to Detroit, Michigan. Red-eye flights, meaning flights that take off late at night and arrive in the wee hours of the next morning, in general just plain suck. They're much worse than transatlantic flights because of the short durations they have which in turn means you can't get much sleep. But, I think Delta does a pretty solid job at making pax feel comfortable on these sleepy flights. They provided a blanket for everyone, along with power outlets, USB ports, IFE screens, free entertainment, free snacks/drinks, and WiFi. The seats themselves are pretty comfortable with adjustable headrests even though the legroom is fairly average. I was lucky enough to have one of the few empty middle seats on the plane, so it really helped. The flight also arrived & departed on time and had a good flight crew. I've flown the B757-200 with Delta in the past a few times, but never the -300 variant which is even longer. I really enjoyed flying aboard this bird and because the flight was full, the takeoff was even more powerful & awesome! Hope you guys enjoy!

I want to fly the 757-300 so bad! It looks like a great aircraft! Liked!
I fly on it in 2weeks. Second time on it.
@@badgerattoadhall cool
@@MatthewsAviationChannel I do prefer the 757-200 though.
@@badgerattoadhall lucky!
I’ve always wanted to fly on a Boeing 777
I love the 757! My favorite Boeing aircraft! And flying into Detroit at night looks so pretty!
notice some 757's delta added winglets to both their northwest legacy and delta legacy tails but there are some that still dont have them, i worked for northwest 12 years ago and Seattle was one their hubs as well as Detroit. great video sir
28:42 Nice painting of DTW!
Great trip report. I've never had the chance to fly the B753, hopefully one day. :)
Most of them are retired so hurry!
They're going the way of the legendary DC8-63s, from whose blueprints thsy were engineered.
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed the trip😊👍🏽
Great report from Econ. I’ve flown red eye LAX-MCO on a 757-300, although in Comfort+. Great product/service from DL.
Nice video - well done! I LOVE night flights into big cities, and 757's...well, they rock Detroit!
Same!
Excellent report man! Love the 753's...hope to fly one sometime! Such a cool plane.
Thanks a lot! Ya man, they're so awesome ya def should sometime 👍🏻
757 is my fav! Just a beautiful aircraft
I love Airplanes! But when I saw you watching hockey highlights, I had to subscribe 🤣 that’s so perfect
Amazing report. Lucky you to be on a 757-300. I never skip the video while taxing. Haha. Amazing job as always!!!
Thanks a lot!
Gotta love Delta's red eye flights
Was like "where the masks at?" then I realized, wait, this was filmed in feb before Rona REALLY made an impact.
Me too...had the same reaction then realized the time frame. Was about the same time as my last flight.
Me too
I read it Rana
@@MohamedMohamed-kk2gk Nice lol
I appreciate the video keep them coming I can't wait to start flying again
Me too Paul
Used to fly this route quite a bit from SEA-MCO! MIss it a lot. Great video, as usal!
Wow! That's a hot plane right there. Love the 757-300 aka flying pencil
As usual the majestic 757 rocket powered Boeing thingy pushes everybody out of the skies.
Seattle looks like a very nice airport. And so does Detroit
Detroit's McNamara terminal is sooo nice.
@Ian Mumford Yes it most certainly is! I saw it in thejazzguy’s DTW-PIT video. The last time I went to DTW was when I was like 1 year old, so obviously I don’t remember. Hope I can go again someday!
Yeah I would consider DTW the nicer airport. Although I have only been there once, it is an amazing airport. SEA is somewhat nice. Half of it is a bit old, but that is also why it is under a lot of construction (Saying this as SEA is my local airport)
@@anthonybob8453 I haven't been to either but based on this video I would say that DTW is nicer. Mostly because it is bigger
The night lights are gorgeous! I'm about to go on my 1st post-COVID trip next week, also going to DTW on Delta.

im trying to get this youtuber to fly to omaha
You are lucky. Havent had a trip since January 2
Great video. Thanks for sharing your experience
Was watching and watching your videos ... Finally, I ended up subscribing and clicking that notification bell button ;)
4:51 plane hasn’t even pushed back and bro is already asleep 😂
Nice report 👍🏼
Thank you!
This video put a smile on my face. I really love how you often have a positive outlook on your flight reviews. As far as red-eye flights are concerned, I took a red-eye flight from PHX to CLT on American Airlines in June of 2017. I slept for 5 minutes then woke up for 5 minutes. The pattern continued throughout the entire flight. The flight was decent, though.
I flew a 757 on US Airways PIT-SFO a long time ago. Nice aircraft. Flew A350 to Nice, FR last September 😀
I love redeyes. Only thing is trying to stay awake to not miss the landings is a big challenge
The 757 is a beautiful aircraft and I like the 777 and 767 and 747 and more
Obviously Boeing screwed up with the 737max... but more to the point they should have built a shorter variant of the 757 with new wings and bigger fuel efficient engines to replace the extremely aged 737 (with the 57's high stance the engineers could have put any size engine under the wings without having to relocate them forward and up which of course fatally changed the flight characteristics on the 37)... doing so would have made the 757 (which has the same width as a 737) an immediate competitor to Airbus's very versatile A320 series... Right now, Boeing has no answer to the A350XLR, but a refreshed 57 would have easily been that answer... And I agree the 757 is a beautiful bird... the 737? Not so much!
@@Paolo-sw8ys The 757 was engineered from the blueprints of the legendary DC8 Super Sixty series - the greatest airplanes that ever flew or ever will fly.
Love your vids I am subscribed, could you do a Las Vegas approach or depart. Or maybe LA. Thanks have a great day
he might have a video, i would go look through all his videos to see.
Excellent.
Totally
Hey. Great video! I really like the seatback screens. Delta is one of my favorites! I might get to do a trip report like you do in the future. :)
this flight used to be a popular route on Northwest Airlines and the plane you were on was an old Northwest Airlines airplane
michael sharp It was from their DTW hub (which they inherited from RC) to their Asian gateway and focus city where NW worked (yes really) closely with partners Alaska and Horizon.
@@erik_griswold Seattle was an Asia Pacific gateway for Northwest Airlines and Detroit and Minneapolis were to Europe, Memphis was also a Northwest hub but got shuttered after Northwest and Delta merged
Am I the only one who likes red-eye flights?
Nope
On Saturday I'm taking a SW flight from KABQ over to Louisville.
Nice trip report, I never bother to watch the entire taxi bro 👍
Thanks man and good to know! Wasn't sure anyone was using the skip time I provide or not :)

Beautiful plane! I’m scheduled to go on Delta’s 757-300 in November from San Francisco to Atlanta. However as I live in the UK, I’m not sure I’ll be able to take my trips later this year because of all the government restrictions
Yah really sucks with all these restrictions...but probably for the better for now. Definitely ruined some of my plans also but hopefully you'll get to fly it!
thejazzguy13 Aviation Hopefully! Have to wait and see what happens
Love the 753 so much, such a unique and fun plane to fly aboard. Great vid man!
Man I bet everyone near you was super thrilled that some guy needed his bright AF reading light on to show off his cup of gingerale. On a redeye.
I have flown on the Univ of W dash 8 from HLN-BIL-SEA BIL-SEA is around 670 miles and with the free wine I had a awesome flt
nice video
I agree
Why that many people would want to fly to Detroit in the middle of the night is beyond me. My last Delta flight trip was in April 2019 from Denver to Sacramento via Salt Lake City. We crowded into the ass end of a 737-800 for the brief flight to SLC. The SLC Delta terminal was an overcrowded dump with a couple overpriced places to get a mediocre breakfast. The flight to Sacramento was mercifully brief. After staying a week in the Redwooods area, we flew from Sacramento to LAX to see my daughter. The flight in the back row of their regional jet was short with no beverage service. After a few days in LA, we returned to the Delta terminal for our flight to Denver. The terminal from which we planned to leave was a circular affair with six or seven gates attached. It was exptremely overcrowed with people standing in the aisles with their luggage between the rows of seats. Our plane to Denver was first an hour, then two hours, then three and a half hours late. Recorded announcements there advised us that charging outlets for our devices were available in all waiting areas of the terminal. Every charging outlet we tried was broken. When we asked the Delta gate people about this their reply was "Yeah, we know that." When our plane arrived, we learned it was overbooked so my wife and I each took the $700 credit and stay a night in a semi-dump hotel just off the LAX grounds. The next day we got back to the "Reimagined" Delta terminal and found that our plane was an hour late and was also over-booked. I almost wanted to take a later flight and hit them up for another $700 overbooking fee but by that time my wife had enough of LAX and Delta so we squeezed into our tiny seats in the ass end of the plane and got home to Denver. Ugh. I've flown dozens of times on United and have never experienced anything like this..
Detroit is Delta's second-largest hub and is a major connection airport, so that is probably why a lot of people were flying to Detroit on that flight.
4:41"...very skinny plane..." Not really. The 757 cabin width is 11'6", the 737 cabin is 11'7" wide, the MD-90 is 10'4", the Airbus A220 is 10'9", and the CRJ-700 cabin is 8'4" wide. The Airbus A320 has a 12'2" wide cabin.
great video! I love DL's IFE too and I hope to fly with them soon
loved this video I feel like I just landed at dtw. Born and raised here haven't been for 3 years. Lived right around corner and watched planes from my house thank so much.ive subscribed
Thanks a lot!
there used to be 2 red-eyes from sea to dtw and sea to msp on NW both 757-300s did the Sea-MSP 1 2 or 3 times
Also, DTW is in fact their second largest hub. Delta cannot expand at SEA because there are literally no gates left to use.
The 757 takeoffs sounds like a rocker ship that blastoff into space🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁
Flying EB from PT>ET,you lost 3hrs,arriving at DTW around 6am,your body clock says it was 3am Seattle time, bedtime for everybody on board,I would've been a zombie, traipsing around the Mcnamara Terminal, still dark outside. Its quite possible by this posting that DL may have or is in the process of retiring their 757 fleet due to the virus-caused drop in bookings.Read on a FF website that DL is retiring their 737-700's.
Awesome stuff.
I love the 753 it is an awesome plane! Great Trip Report liked!
Thanks a lot! 🤙🏻
Wow, awesome trip report as always! Delta did a great job here! I have to ask, will you ever try the United 787 I believe it is, from EWR to SFO?😸😻😸
Would love to at some point if the opportunity arises!
@@thejazzguy13 Awesome! One other question, would you ever fly SAS through Stockholm, Virgin through London, or Air Lingus through Dublin going to Krakow?😸
@@ryanfrisby7389 Aer Lingus thru Dublin is the cheapest across the pond. And the A330 is a great plane. Very smooth flying.
Nice
What time of the year was that because I saw that it was dark before 9pm
757-300: the great DC8-63 reincarnated! What a shame that neither is any longer in production! What planes those Stretch Eights were! None are in passenger service anywhere in the world. And the 753s don't have much longer. How sad!!!
Believe it or not, I have never taken a long flight on Delta. The longest one I have taken was four hours
12:24 is takeoff I think
Great report bud! DTW is one of my favorite airports! Have you ever stayed at the Westin right on the airport?
Not yet is it good?
thejazzguy13 Aviation Yes it is, but you want to be sure to get an outer edge room so you can see the airfield.
@@aviationfascination Cool bro thx for the tip!
The Westin at DTW is a very nice hotel... It opened a year or two after the McNamara did and was built with the same architectural philosophy as the McNamara Terminal and has won many awards for being the best on airport hotel in the US... I've stayed there many times and it's one of, if not the best, on airport hotel in North America (Vancouver's Sheraton is very nice too)... It's triple pane glass make the jets just outside completely inaudible! It has a direct connection to concourse A and has it's own TSA checkpoint right off the Westin's atrium...
I’m guessing ur laying over and then heading to Pittsburgh ?
Curious why you rode the tram to A gates, when you could have just walked from the main terminal.
Idk, I guess felt like riding it cause it was close to the gate I arrived at :D
You make grey videos but why do you post them so late
I have a pretty extensive backlog which I'm going through a the moment. Will have 2 more pre-COVID coming up
Nice trip report bro!
👍
Thanks mate!
YES, THANKS JAZZGUY FOR ANOTHER DETROIT VIDEO, I DM’D YOU ON INSTAGRAM ASKING FOR DETROIT 🔥 🔥
HOW DEPRESSING, LEAVING SEATTLE ON A RED EYE FOR DETROIT
Penguins fan? Love to see it
Ya man go Pens!
That short!?
Love that view of GR, it's my home town but i have never seen it like that
Did anyone else notice the engine was off while he was showing the plane from the small crack right before getting on the plane ? 4:27
Engines are always off prior to pushback
Plus the engine was not visible at 4:27. I think the view was to emphasise the length of the fuselage.
Have a safe flight ! I didn’t see anyone in the airplane wearing mask !?
Yah was filmed before covid in Feb. and thx!
I don’t get why delta still flies the 757 when they very much need to be replaced and the a350s and 787-8s would be better. Simply just order 127+ total of them and have them delivered over 5 years where they slowly replace the 757s
Or they could buy AA’s 767s
We Viet Vets need something that reminds us of the great Stretch Eights that took us over and back!
Hi
How tall are you
I prefer the 757 over the 737. More interior spacing.
12:20
25:17 LOL!!
I think I flew this in 2015
i am from seattle so i go to that airport a lot :/
What does red eye flight mean?
Fly during the night and land early in the morning
Delta's 757s don't fly into Detroit anymore according to what I see on flightaware
That's a little hard to believe considering Detroit is Delta's second-largest hub.
Why would Alaska airlines be headquartered in Seattle?
Takeoff is my favorite part of flying landing is not the exciting part of flying when they slam on the breaks
I live near I 94
3:43 beep beeeep
are your favorite pax taking a vacation from you
lol guess they are :D
? 😣 ? Delta puts a safety card like this in their planes. I thought that Delta is America's most Asian airline.
Jaweria Api
You should do a American Airlines red eye I fly on American all the time it’s so nice
😍 keep safe I hope the they hurry and found a vaccine for this covid cause air aviation is losing money big time hope you can travel again very soon
DTW became one of Delta's Major hubs partially because of the Merger of Delta and Northwest.
DTW was Northwest's largest hub for (probably) decades... and was always America's main gateway to Asia (thanks to the auto industry)... when Delta bought NWA it became Delta's second largest (Atlanta will always be their largest)...
Paolo 123 Northwest inherited the DTW hub from their merger with Republic in 1986.
When was this shot? I do not see one mask! Are people nuts? Isn't there a mask regulation?
He clearly notes this was done in February, roughly a month before the pandemic crap changed travelers' lives
DTW look like ATL LoL
It just "arrived in" or "left out". Don't you speak English?
see not funny
A real good plane all of them have been overhauled.. To bad Boeing does not make them anymore they would rather make a stupid Max 8..
Stopping production on the 757 was stupid. A 757-100 length aircraft could handle the LEAP engines with ease.
I want to be like you when I get older I need to be eight more years older but I hope you are still doing you tube and I think you deserve more subs and likes everyone sub to thejazzguy aviation
